My perspective on this is a bit specific as I work in PR in the EDM (Electronic Dance Music) industry that spent YEARS trying to break the association with drugs and the negative aspects of the rave culture. There are clear guidelines for our artists not to use any, even very loose, substance references on social media, videos, and public appearances, that includes pot that's legal in a number of states and provinces. And I dodn't doubt that all of them still manage to get their creative message across, or at least no one has complained. But then there was one producer who was like: "you guys can suck it" and made a track titled "Molly". LOL Fortunately he's not with my agency so we didn't have to personally deal with the fallout but the industry as a whole was not amused. We also tell out clients to never ever engage with Negative Nancys on social media. What it does, is make you look a) petty b) defensive. I always say, if you feel like answering to a hater, answer to 3 fans/positive messages instead, don't validate/reward negativity. For that reason, I hate it when Adam gets sassy in comments. Also, I don't get this whole "I do what I want" attitude/comments because it has the potential to come off as cocky and dismissive which, as some of the fan comments in the last 24 hours show, has happened here. Don't approach the masses as sheep, take them for granted and act like "you don't care" or roll your eyes when someone doesn't understands your slang. Not a good look AT ALL. See... to me this PC-inspired-direction dictated or suggested to your artists is exactly what Adam decided to leave behind... idk who is right and who is wrong here, obviously there are several sides to the same “truth”... The other important misconception IMO is that some see a drug reference in the MV where it is clearly NOT the case. (I remember similar discussions re TOH, and what he was referring to)... it is so misleading to assume that only drugs bring happiness, joy, light, etc... The MV is clearly talking about different muses and he explains that to him it is LOVE. So, why are we playing to the lowest denominator here and talking hallucinogenic drugs (or any other kinds)? The song is a love song, it is inspirational, it is catchy, it is deep... love it! nica575 , I very much like your assessment. There is so much beauty in the video that gets overshadowed by the drug talk. Frustrating. On the other hand, we need to validate the fact that everybody's perception is different. I personally love the new direction he's taking!!!! "New Eyes" is giving ME new eyes.

I'm back... Can this forum be happy for Adam and for us.. He is on the verge of being recognized for his creativity around the world. He has left two record deals to be free and now some fans continue to tell him what to do ,how to look and how to create... so sad. If you don't like him, don't like what he produces don't watch, buy ,etc. but do a couple of folks have to ruin it for the rest ,who love what he is doing...just saying. Can this be a moment of rejoicing.
I did take two advil.. thinking about the valium.. Negativity just does me in.. discussion is good ,but beating a dead horse is not.

twitter.com/HuffPostEnt/status/1129142524742897665HuffPost Ent @huffpostent Adam Lambert is back with a brand new, '70s-inspired groove (and a shaggy hairstyle to boot). huffp.st/zXRSblGThe “American Idol” veteran goes pleasantly retro on the first single to his fourth album, out later this year. After an eye-popping performance at the Oscars alongside members of Queen in February, Adam Lambert is kicking off a new era. The “American Idol” veteran unveiled a brand new song, “New Eyes,” Wednesday. The song’s pleasantly retro, 1970s rock vibe is accentuated by its accompanying music video, showing Lambert rocking a number of groovy outfits and a shaggier hairstyle. “New Eyes” is the second taste of Lambert’s forthcoming album. The followup to 2015’s “The Original High” will be titled “Velvet,” and is slated for release later this year. In the days leading up to his Academy Awards performance, the singer-songwriter released a lyric video for “Feel Something,” a ballad he said was inspired by his recent experiences with depression. In a statement to Rolling Stone, Lambert called “New Eyes” a “love letter to innocence and to finding new passions.” “I wanted my first single to reflect my current state of mind,” he said, “and to bring listeners into a romantic, earthy vibe.” From the sounds of it, Lambert has a lot to celebrate these days. In March, he confirmed on social media that he was happily in a new relationship with model Javi Costa Polo. He’ll perform Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” on the season finale of “American Idol” this Sunday, followed by a June 28 appearance on the “Good Morning America” concert series. He kicks off a new tour with Queen in Vancouver on July 10.
