Haha came across this post on Harris' instagram and immediately thought about Adam and the flickering flame crown he wanted for the Zodiac show. Adam liked this post. Lol, baby Adam would have been so jealous of this I found the video of Adam talking about it and posted on pg2.

Check out the comments on the NE YouTube -- many comparisons to bands I would not expect to see associated with an Adam song -- Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, and so on. And these from Swifties ... many more!! Here are a few. stanningswift Come from Taylor Swift's insta story and she's so right about this song being a bop Shivam Murari Taylor Swift brought me here. Jasmin Felicity Here because of Taylor Swift! This is really a blessing to my ears! 😍 Haniya Jamal Who else came from Taylor's story in insta? 😂♥️ Slime Clouds Here because Taylor Swift told me to. Great song! 👍🏼
***
And the people comparing it to "Slow Hands" crack me up. That funky pop/blues baseline is not Irish from 2017, it is American from the 1960's - 1970's. Probably both songs should credit George Porter Jr. as an inspiration.
MeowFoxy 10 hours ago Did not like the song.. too slow for my liking.. Adam's known for his crazy vocals, this is lackluster... Those were my thoughts at the first listen... Now I've replayed it more than 50 times... how did that happen?? How is it so catchy?? 😅😍 This gets better and better after the first listen, it's moody and psychedelic and addictive **** This comment from the video reminds me of some comments here. I would just say... give it a few more listens. Take or leave the video, but I think that will also "grow on us", especially as the next chapters appear. Adam as entertainer/counselor... Love him, love this music.

I did listen to the song a couple of times after I bought it, and I did like it better without the video...but I still can't say it's my favorite Adam song or style. But I'm really excited to see what the rest of the album is like.
Re the fan that had a meltdown over something on the last thread, I followed the twitter party last night and I'm not sure what she's referring to. I thought it was a really good Q & A, and gave us really good insight into what's happening right now with Adam and his music. Not really sure what she thought was mean or dismissive.

So much drama. Adam is not going to explain everything to everyone. He does not know how much everyone else knows or can reference. If you don't like the video or understand it stop watching it and move on. It is done and it is out there. He is trying to tell a story in the video. It does not mean it is his life or what he is doing or what he is telling others to do. That is just fans trying to speak for him. A lot of people had club days and they took part is activities to various degrees or not. He is telling the story from a smokey club. And I sure enjoyed my club days so for that I can relate. But I didn't care for creepy guy in the video enough to find out what his deal was. Some of the others were not of great interest either. But that is just me. I don't like or watch creepy movies and stories. I could not finish that mini series with Darren Criss. Did not matter how many awards he won or how great the story was. It was not for me. And no wagging of the finger is going to make me like anything. But the fan who is upset about this big drug use push (that I don't see) seems to be concentrating on the video and not focusing on the music. Support the music and ignore the video if it is not to your taste.
Love the endorsement from Taylor. NE was chosen as the single because it related to his feeling of where he is in his life. So even if the song was not written with Javi as the inspiration, it fits his emotions now. But I'm kind of glad Javi was not in his life when he was creating the music, otherwise we may have missed out on some sultry and dark music, lol. But how wonderful it is to see him have someone to share this journey with. Very happy for both of them.

Well, unless I totally missed something, the old guy was the only one putting something in his mouth, so I wouldn't exactly call the video a big drug scene or anything like that. I got the message of people rediscovering their joys and passions, so that message was very clear to me.
People will see what they want to see, or hear what they want to hear, but it would be nice if they dealt with it in the privacy of their own home instead of shouting out their complaints to the world every time.
ETA: Hubby and I had a conversation about this the other day...he said social media basically allows adults to have temper tantrums on a daily basis. Kind of have to agree with that.

My perspective on this is a bit specific as I work in PR in the EDM (Electronic Dance Music) industry that spent YEARS trying to break the association with drugs and the negative aspects of the rave culture. There are clear guidelines for our artists not to use any, even very loose, substance references on social media, videos, and public appearances, that includes pot that's legal in a number of states and provinces. And I dodn't doubt that all of them still manage to get their creative message across, or at least no one has complained.
But then there was one producer who was like: "you guys can suck it" and made a track titled "Molly". LOL Fortunately he's not with my agency so we didn't have to personally deal with the fallout but the industry as a whole was not amused.
We also tell out clients to never ever engage with Negative Nancys on social media. What it does, is make you look a) petty b) defensive. I always say, if you feel like answering to a hater, answer to 3 fans/positive messages instead, don't validate/reward negativity. For that reason, I hate it when Adam gets sassy in comments. Also, I don't get this whole "I do what I want" attitude/comments because it has the potential to come off as cocky and dismissive which, as some of the fan comments in the last 24 hours show, has happened here. Don't approach the masses as sheep, take them for granted and act like "you don't care" or roll your eyes when someone doesn't understands your slang. Not a good look AT ALL.
