Adam has had a great career so far. He's making significant money, and he has his calling as singer with Queen, his past recordings, and whatever comes from Velvet. And then there is his vocal role as Maximus. He continues to make contacts and impress other artists. He is not focused on radio play. I know that's disappointing for many, because Sam Smith/Normani is right in there, P!nk, Jonas Brothers. But he has a different vision at the moment. on everything you said! Just to keep a perspective though, the whole discussion got started as someone was wondering... "Why is Adam’s social media presence so limited? How difficult is it for someone on His team to keep pumping out his new music?"

I don't find Queen part of Adam's career being out there front and centre. After all, there are 654678 solo artist out there but there's only one king of Queen. Unrelated - saw "Rocketman" this evening. What a bore. I kept thinking to myself: "Yeah, I get it, he had terrible parents. And?". And the musical theatre concept was not really my thing either. And the "sex scene" everyone's obsessing about was maybe 5 seconds long. I really don't see how having it there made any difference? If the "critics" thought it was oh so important to have it there, I don't know, maybe they just need to watch more porn. LOL You made me laugh reading about the critics needing to watch more porn.

There are so many Adam fans who are no longer active on this board and/or on twitter and Facebook too. People move on to other things or are busy with their lives. Some drifted away who weren't so fond of the QAL collaboration I think. I will always support Adam, his voice and his music but I do get discouraged when he doesn't always get the recognition and opportunities that I think he should. I realize he gets a great deal of recognition and has had amazing opportunities, so I have to argue with myself about setting my wishes too high.......(sigh). I agree -- fans come and go. It has been 10+ years now. But interest in Adam has been pretty steady since late 2010.
First, a good general measure of interest in an artist is Google searches --- and excluding the Idol and AMA peaks, Adam searches for his current promo are equal to the first big QAL Tour level.
**
On Twitter and Facebook --
Twitter does not represent music listeners or music buyers or anything else except Twitter users -- about 25% of U.S. adults from 18-29 use Twitter and that is the highest penetration by age range. Generally, 10% of Twitter users create 80% of the posts -- and I would bet that <5% of Adam fans on Twitter create 80% of the Adam related posts because there are about 2,000 Twitter accounts that create most of the Adam-related posts on Twitter -- and about 100 accounts created over 25% of the Tweets related to Adam (past 6 months).
Facebook is probably better but many people have quit using Facebook since the 2016 mess.

Regarding QAL and Adam's popularity. I think he might have faded away during those two periods between labels -- post RCA and for the past 3 years or so -- without QAL. Instead, QAL has put him on almost ever best living pop/rock vocalist list.
JMHO Adam's solo music FYE, T, and TOH were all a bit off the mainstream except for the mandated label singles (excluding FYE single which RCA did not realize was not mainstream when they bought it for him since they did not think about how it would change if done by a gay man vs. Britney Spears.) I think he lack of mainstream music success is the reason that many fans who love the pop-rock Adam from Idol, were not fans of FYE or "Ghost Town" or anything else (except WWFM).
Many of the Idol fans bought FYE (album), did not love it, and moved on. You can find their posts online if you go back and look.

Looking at the traffic here and from Planet Fierce:
In the beginning 2009-2011 -- if Adam changed his hair, there would be literally hundreds of posts. But eventually he could dye it red or green and it resulted in 10-20 posts.
There was an increase in traffic the AMAs. Big. From all over the world. But it faded. Lasted about 3 weeks.
There was a big drop in traffic and engaged members (posting comments, visiting) after "Trespassing" was released. It went up again when QAL started and climbed a lot for the first QAL Tour and that has continued -- Queen news = visits. I believe that QAL has connected Adam to more fans.
And there has been a significant increase in page views since the NE promo started. Posts are up a bit, but traffic is up more, a lot more. And this place is hard to find.
So, I come back to my first point, I think that many Adam fans are still there but less inspired to post.

My take is I am thrilled that Adam is no longer interested in following the trends. But it makes me wonder if the labels were keeping him chasing the It guys/gals and maybe it was not his choice. He was never going to be a solo arena artist because that would require so much more radio play and exposure in the US than he was getting. But now that he is not following the trends, I'm afraid that without a big label behind him, his radio play will be even harder. I do like the support he is getting from his management and hope it is enough to keep him out front and on great streaming lists and getting tv exposure. But we have heard nothing about a radio push so maybe there is no plan for that. But he seems very happy with the way things are going so I guess they are going as he planned. No matter what, he will be able to tour solo if he wants. But on what level and scale is the question? I think it is too early to know what the radio plan is -- but they clearly have a radio PR plan. And seem like they will activate that down the road.
**
On mainstream Adam ...I understand your point but I don't think Adam was ever looking for mainstream music success -- I think he wanted to be successful on his own terms. If you take Trespassing, an album that Adam was the sole Executive Director of and had creative control of, it was not mainstream at all -- except for the two songs RCA shoved on added to it.
Before Idol, on Idol, and after Idol, Adam did not seem to want to be a mainstream pop-rock artist. Someone trying to be "safe" and successful, would not do the "Ring of Fire" performance.
If he had chosen to put out a lot of Adult Contemporary, pop-rock music, like 15 versions of WWFM, he would have probably been more successful commercially. But I think he would have been less successful creatively.

NE is not the kind of track that seems like a radio song -- it does not align to any radio format except maybe Alt which is not really Adam's target market. JMHO. I expect that the second track may be more commercial, but we'll see.
Adam has not put out a new album since 2015 and coming back after 4 years requires a careful promotional plan. Seems like they are ramping this up. First a song to engage fans get a bit of press, the a single with some TV promotion, my guess is that we get another single and maybe the album before the GMA concert.
We'll see. I certainly would not have predicted that Adam would release a deep house track and that it would get US airplay and be a hit (Ghost Town), and I did predict this return to the 70's. So I think we are probably in for some more surprises.
