OT from Adam.....but the rise of a new, bigger independent label venture. I had forgotten that Taylor left Big Machine for Universal, but Scott Borchetta retained all the publishing rights to her catalog. twitter.com/billboard/status/1145332849794584576

so cute I look at this pic and I think to myself that he likely would have preferred to go to Prom with a cute guy instead. Luckily, we have progressed a bit and it's happening now, at least in liberal areas. From my point of view, after growing up in Europe and experiencing Prom through my kids for the first time, Prom can be quite a "dated" affair.

Back in my era...cough, cough...many moons ago, if someone did not ask you to prom you did not go. Sad! Thank goodness norms changed in the years following, and everyone felt they could go to the dinner/dance or dance. In Adam's era, I am happy he had many gal pals so he got to experience a joyful event. One wonders how many students may have sat at home, confused about their feelings and feeling excluded.
I read a few years ago re some US schools having separate proms- for black students and for white students. Heck where do other nationalities fit in? And each group was happy to have their own prom?? Sad too.
The world needs a bit ...or maybe a lot ...of pixie dust sprinkled over us all! Utopia!
Ps...I do not remember the video of Adam getting in the car for a grad occasio, but it would be awesome if someone knew how to locate it. Then there would be two that I would save!

Hey, I wonder if Adam went as a date to another Grad. Does anyone happen to have saved the youtube of Adam with his grad date in the backyard getting pictures taken? I thought Adam said once she wore a red dress and I thought the date in that video had a red dress. thx Found this photo in my collection...same girl, different prom. I remember that Adam said that he attended prom more than once.

He went to Homecoming twice with the girl in the pink dress--as I remember. We do not have Homecoming events here in Canada...but sure a boon to the dress and tux companies in the US. (Grad and Homecoming events)
edit add...just noticed the date was Oct 2 1999

Ps...I do not remember the video of Adam getting in the car for a grad occasio, but it would be awesome if someone knew how to locate it. Then there would be two that I would save! Yep. It was a big event to go and be asked to the prom. No one thought of it as you had to go with either a boyfriend or girlfriend, you just wanted to be there. You did not want to be left out. I went with a football player, who was in one of my classes. We were not dating or romantically interested in one another. Many years later, one of my friends had a daughter who desperately wanted to go to the prom but no one asked her. My friend had her daughter at age twenty and the child was was born with spina bifida. The child's father was too young and immature to cope and he immediately stepped out of their lives for good. My friend married a navy man when her daughter was a teenager. He stepped in and asked her to the prom. When the limo pulled up, he was in his dressed whites and had a corsage for her daughter and had one for the wheelchair. My friend and I were just a sobbing hot mess, lol. Her daughter was so happy to be included and she was delighted and proud to attend the prom with her new dad.
