I think the fact that Adam has fans of all ages, and (let's face it) many older fans does affect his streaming numbers. I have tried to encourage people to use Spotify or Apple music, but most people I know are resistant to paying for a streaming service, so they will listen to their radio with more ads than music (which I can't stand) or they use youtube or sometimes pandora for their music discovery. You don't need to get a paid subscription to Spotify to stream on that platform though. At some point you might want to as the adds become a bit frequent, but if you don't stream very often it's still doable. And you can at least choose which playlist with what music you want to play. The free option has some disadvantages in selecting a certain song and you can't let it stream 24/7 either, but to just support Adam and play his songs a few times per day it's perfect. It's the most easy when you use a playlist someone else created. Or go to his album and stream from there.

It’s been a couple of years since I’ve stopped believing that Adam will “take over the world” and started believing that he is a true “niche” artist, with smallish but very faithful following... he is not going to appeal to the kpop crowd or the rap crowd or any of the ones that generate literally billions of streams, either organically or by bot streaming to start their artists up... radio imo is not going to be on board especially now when the majority of the stations are in the hands of super conservative conglomerates...all IMO !
I want the solo tour... but we won’t even see the full album until some time in 2020! So I am gearing up for 2020 to be a full QAL year... anything else will be a pleasant bonus!

I don’t know what’s keeping Adam from having major success besides lack of mainstream publicity. I pretty much never see anything about him on major news sites. I know many articles are posted here, but a lot of them seem to be from entertainment blogs most people who aren’t already fans probably don’t see. I do reject the the idea that being “too nice”,” not “walking over people,” and “always promoting other people” keep him from achieving success. That’s like saying he needs to be nasty and cut-throat. It isn’t a war. Though I suppose a dumb, contrived “feud” like others seem to have would garner some publicity. It probably wouldn’t make more people like him! I agree. Being nasty would only help people who have a problem with Adam's sexuality justify their hate and non-support. Here is my take. I know some think radio is dead but I don't see how Adam would get a hit without it. I never expected his streaming numbers to be off the charts without some radio play. Even the rappers get radio play, to go with the streams, if they are on major labels. I like Adam's falsetto but it does make him sound too much like some others and doesn't have the same impact, imo. The Jonas Bros use it a lot and their music does not move me at all. But they are getting a ton of radio play. So everyone will hear it and stream it and it becomes a hit. And Believe and Feel Something stood out without the falsetto so I miss that. I know fans enjoy the rapid release of new songs but as soon as one is released, we start to hear (and some fans start to anticipate) the next song. Each one is to be better than the next but to me it has been the opposite. I like all three songs but in the order of FS, NE, CIH. But some will only stream what they really love. And we have been told that Adam is doing it the way he wants so not to worry. So now I don't worry. Not expecting to hear it on the radio nor expecting a hit. And just following streaming numbers alone is not as much fun as watching the charts too. Even when the movement was slower than I wanted, there was something to anticipate. Now I just steam the songs and videos 24/7, even if I'm not blown away by the music. I don't think Adam is loosing fans but the ones who are gaining fans are being heard everywhere on many platforms. The exposure is greater. So Adam's fans were never going to be able to stream enough to get him the huge numbers and on all the major playlists. TV shows, streaming, radio all play a part in the success of artists and their music. You can't take away a large part then expect the same results with streaming alone. He knew when he went Indie that things would change for him. I think we knew it too but were hoping for a different outcome because so many told us that only streaming mattered. But streaming is influenced by a lot of other things that Adam does not have. However, I think his fanbase is still strong but it will be harder now to increase it. So I'm just going with the flo and hope Adam's decisions will work for what he wants out of it.

csquared@lurleene Just to clarify when I said Adam's too nice I wasn't meaning he'd have to be nasty but I get the impression some artists are very self serving, shmoozing people who can be useful to them and doing collabs with people who will up their profile regardless if the music is their style or what they like.

I must say that the last conversation on yesterday's thread was quite a downer. I know we loyal fans are streaming, viewing, etc. all we can. We all have real lives, too. Adam's fans are so loyal. There just aren't enough of us. Growing the fan base is a real uphill battle. Thanks for posting the "platforms" link. Very interesting. We all want a solo tour. So does Adam. Keep streaming. I too would like to thank skaschep for her dedication to Adam and his fandom, and for keeping it real. I will continue to stream, view, and ... click, click, click to keep Adam's name in the game.

I think he could have "taken over the world" if his own musical tastes had been different. He tends to go against the grain a bit. Or better, his own taste in music is rather "eclectic". Let's all try to remember the immense response to "Believe". That's his strong suit.

I can think of a few reasons why the "taking over the world" didn't happen. As a fan, I have accepted that and am grateful for the career he does have. And I'm glad he is not a starving artist and is doing just fine financially! I really, really hope he can do his own tour though, so am keeping my fingers crossed. Thank you skaschep for the streaming info. I find Youtubing easier, so I will definitely make a point of Spotifying more!
