I just played back WATC from tonight's stream. Excuse me, but Freddie, on his best live performance, could not have pulled those vocals off like Adam did tonight. Period. You know I've said this before but as I said a few night back. For those not sitting and paying close attention to live vs live and just comparing it to the CD version or for those who have Freddie's vocals engraved into their brains they will always prefer it. That doesn't mean they don't think that Adam is talented or that they don't realize how incredible his vocals are. It just means that sometimes the original performer especially when it comes to such a legendary band like Queen will always win. And what I'm about to say I will probably kick myself later for this because I was a Queen fan before I was a fan of Adam (obviously I knew about Queen way before Adam auditioned for Idol) but as I said it pains me to say this but Freddie's death elevated him to an almost god like status whereas before I don't think he was as widely praised. I mean yes he was talented and incredibly charismatic and controlled a crowd like no one else at the time but death and this movie has elevated him to much much higher status then before. Ok I will see myself out and go kick myself for what I just said oh god. Quickly need to add into this we all need to recall Freddie was self taught and struggled greatly with his live vocals throughout his career because of his on going issue with nodules which he refused to treat due to fear of completely losing his voice.

Sigh. It is an argument I can never hope to win. I should just accept that and not let it bother me. I try, but, sometimes it just grates on my last nerve. A person prefers the sound of Freddie singing to Adam? Cool. Fine. Enjoy listening to videos and recordings. I have no problem with that. But they don't say, "I LIKE Freddie's singing better than Adam's." They say "Freddie's singing IS better than Adam's." And "Adam is not Freddie. But, he is ALMOST as good." What criteria are they using to evaluate "good" "better" and "best"? Let's limit it to live singing, as so much can be tweaked and manipulated and overdubbed in studio sessions. I wish someone would tell me what it is in Freddie's live voice that makes him such a vocal god. As a trained singer, I hear the good, the bad, and the ugly in Freddie's live voice. With Adam live, I very rarely hear the bad and don't know that I have ever heard the ugly. And the good, in terms of resonance, consistency, purity, range of intensity from delicate and tender to powerhouse, sustain, breath control, and articulation, is very, very, sometimes breathtakingly good. Sorry. My personal soapbox. My personal pet peeve. I will stop beating this very dead horse now.

The thing for me is no one is coming to the Queen concert today to see Freddie. They are coming to see Adam Lambert perform fronting Queen. Did you enjoy him or not? Was he really good or not? Would you come to see him again if given the chance? Whatever your answer, you are not going back 26 years to get Freddie instead of Adam. You have tapes for that.

christina91 , I liked your comment. And you nailed it for me with this line... "... Additionally, I think Live Aid sealed the deal.

cassie lurleene I understand how all of you feel and I agree with what you are all saying. When I went to the show I kept getting annoyed when people were chanting things like "freddie freddie" before the show I wanted to stand up and scream guys hes dead all he is now is ashes. I'm sure many many people wish they could bring him back even just for one night but we cannot. And all of us here KNEW when we bought the ticket we weren't going to see Freddie(I mean yes we see him briefly but you get what I'm saying) so why is everyone still asking if they will show Freddie this is Queen + ADAM LAMBERT - I just can't understand why people can't wrap their heads around it. suzysuzyqt sizzling63 I'm glad you liked my comment. And yes I agree with sizzling63 and I def think Live Aid cemented not only his status but Queen's status it's been said again and again by multiple people in the industry.

Thankfully I didn't hear any of that at my show. But I did have a BIG laugh in the Pizza place before the show. It was full of fans before the show and the conversation turned to the concert we were all there to see. The men were mostly saying (or only admitting) they were there to see Queen. But all the wives and ladies cut them off and said we were there to see Queen and Adam Lambert. Then the Adam Lambert love just took over the conversation with a life of its own and the men smiled and gave up, lol.

That’s the other myth I don’t understand.... I suppose one must’ve been there but having seen and having listened to Live Aid several times I really don’t get the “best ever”... may be as compared to others at that event? Crowd participation as a criteria may be? ... but vocally? ..give me a break..
