I have no interest in any review that starts telling about the "pink elephant" and who can't fill Freddie's shoes. But it is a gift that is gladly given to them and they can't pass on it. So what do I expect? Maybe a review of the show that has taken place and the people performing but that is just me, lol. I guess they really believe that Adam is sorry that he is not Freddie. And he needs to make everyone feel better that they have to settle for him.

Ugh. That NOLA reviewer is one more example of someone who has to muster up all his strength to find a way to give Adam faint praise. Yeah, he does acknowledge Adam's great voice, but what's this BS about Adam just "playing a part?" You mean Freddie didn't "play a part?" It's all so absurd. This reviewer tried very hard NOT to have a good time. He seemed to have a good time in spite of himself. Begrudgingly, to be sure, but he managed.

Can't there just be a law passed that says Adam Lambert wins all the awards for everything? From talent to hotness and all in between? Would save a lot of time. But then he’d be criticised for winning too much - after all, he’s not Freddie....

As a heads-up, those who feel distress at the slightest touch of "negativity" please don't read. It has to do with the review.
In all fairness to some critics, not everybody will wholeheartedly love Adam and be 100% sold on the QAL collaboration. I can see how Adam's way of being OTT can come across as rather theatrical and bordering Broadway and reflect on the show as such, which is not to everybody's liking, while others totally love and embrace the whole new spectacle the way the new frontman delivers it. I think it is hard to not compare to Freddie, as he had a very different voice and performance style that is engrained in public consciousness and was undoubtedly compelling to many. Let's face it, Adam is not for everybody despite his stellar vocal capabilities. He knows it and I am sure that Brian and Roger do too, but the current success and demand for the tour will probably only make them shrug it off anyways. I think it is near impossible to rationalize with Adam's vocal gift when there are strong preferences and emotions involved, and I bet that even those who have not seen Freddie live have an idea what type of a singer and frontman he was. And to beat a dead horse yet again, Adam is not helping at all with his speech. The "torch" line would be way more reasonable than the OTT worship.
I really can't wait for Adam's solo work to kick in. I feel quite deprived of Adam realness at this point and a sound that feels different.

Seriously, the pink elephant talk needs to stop... the torch variety is so much more graceful and positive and true to the spirit of all QAL activities! plus (as a minor fact) it is more inclusive for those of us who are there to listen and to see Adam. Thank god Adam is not Freddie, thank god for his voice and his ability to superbly interpret any music he touches, consistently outdoing any original singer ... I agree. How much longer does Adam need to justify being there. Freddie's gone and won't be back so lets move on. As Roger said, "Freddie's dead, he won't be there so don't come". What Adam as had to endure with this collaboration is beyond ridiculous. Time to just say he's happy to be there and carry the torch! ETA: Also I think we have to remember Queen was not popular with the critics back in the day and they didn't like Freddie very much until he died, then he became this mythical figure that was so brilliant, he could never be replaced. Personally I prefer the way Adam sings Queen songs, much more dynamic! But that's just me!!!!!
