I've noticed that Adam is moving around and dancing more. I like it! I think it is because he isn't wearing platform shoes until the encore.

Last night it was finally my turn to see this year's iteration of QAL in Atlanta.
It was great! It was horrible.
The bad first to get it out of the way. There was a VERY drunk, obnoxious 20 something girl right behind me. Bumping into people. Yelling. Screaming out the lyrics of songs so loud she was drowning out Adam. Arguing with those around her trying to shush her. Practically ruined the first part of the concert for all around her before her friend finally hauled her out to go get sick. After that, I could concentrate on the great show before me.
In the row in front of me were much more pleasant guys who stood thru most of the show. To be expected, but, they were very tall, and pretty much blocked my direct view of the stage. I was relegated to watching the monitors. Hell! I have been watching videos of the show for months now. I wanted to watch directly. Sigh. But that is part of going to a QAL concert.
We took the train to the venue to avoid the downtown traffic. Very efficient, and it dumped us out right in front of the arena. It also dumped a large majority of the 16000 other concert goers, too. Plus, the Atlanta football team was playing right next door, so we had the 40000 sports fans also taking the train. Never seen such a crowd on mass transit. but, they were civil, and in a good mood. Not for the claustrophobic, but we managed.
Okay. Now for the great. The audience was pumped for the show and sounded like they were there to see a sporting event. LOUD!!!! Enthusiastic. Went crazy for Adam. Crazier for Roger and Brian. Sang along at all the right places. Bo Rhap got t he biggest response, but FBG was a close second. Fist pumps, singing, cheering.
Adam sounded sublime. Unfortunately, this was not a show where he went for the over the top embellishments, but, I, being so familiar with the show and his interpretations, was the only one to know or care. HIs voice live, as everyone says, cannot the accurately captured on audience video. It is so pure, so ringing, so bright, and I could hear much more of the high harmonics that make his voice sound even higher than it is. It sounds like a brilliant diamond. It soars. It has power that echoes thruout the venue. It has so much presence.
While I missed a couple of the "show-off" riffs, my musician sister, not familiar with Adam's every performance, was highly impressed with how he added riffs and nuances and a personal touch to the melodies which were difficult and brilliantly done. It takes a lot to impress her, and Adam did it in spades!
The sound system was second to none. No distortion. Loud and throbbing without blasting my ears out. Everything was clear and I could hear Adam's precise articulation of lyrics easily.
The show is a brilliant visual spectacle.
The show's pace is breathtaking. The only slowing down was for Brian's acoustic work and his solo. The rest of the show barreled on towards the climax. No hesitations, no down time, no loss of momentum. The care and thought that went into the set list made for a compelling two plus hours of non-stop entertainment.
Everyone on stage appeared to be having the time of their lives. Happy to be there. Happy to be sharing their music. Happy to feel the audience enthusiasm. Adam talks about what a privilege and honor it is to share the stage with legends, but, everyone seemed to share that sentiment, like they appreciated the opportunity to perform for us. That joy enhanced an already perfect show.
Oh, did I mention that Adam's voice live is the eighth wonder of the world? I would attend a concert even if I couldn't see the stage. Just to hear that one in a billion voice.
Now to go check out the videos.

Thank you cassie . Great recap... Rather sad that after so much anticipation there were unfortunate happenings which spoiled it a little for you. My ‘little one’ is 6’5” and he is horribly self-conscious at concerts because he hates to block anyone, with the result he always makes his way to the back or side. I don’t like him doing that, for his own enjoyment, yet would hate to be stuck behind him of course....! Dilemma... And drunken women who think they are fronting the band.... But lovely to hear your comments on the sound and the singing (Adam’s!). I thought he was in very ‘rich’ voice last night even though something was making him a little cautious. But, unless you are a diehard Adam fan, no one would notice....that’s even more testament to his gift. And yes, happy to go blindfolded just to hear him sound ‘like a brilliant diamond’ live.

I miss that they don't end up in LA as Adam's solo tours always do. LA is one of the easier places for me to get to and there is always something very special about those LA shows.....plus he would add a second one.... Do we know if the TALC girls will be there to record? Luv2Laugh's videos are superb....would love this whole last show to download....he won't be holding back tonight at all...full barrels firing...
