Your discussion is based on the "business" of music being fair and honest. Profits distributed equitably.
It is a game that is played, and they write the rules. Adam hasn't viewed their game as always equitable. The deck is stacked. It is dangerous for me to speak for him, do understand that this is my point of view.
The music that is heard and promoted is selected for corporate and monetary reasons. The word promoted is very important. The singers we have lost early were lost for a reason. They didn't play the game properly.
Adam has a good career as he started late - he was not 16-18 years old. His decisions have been to have choices which he is happy with. It is a tough situation when you can bring in so much money. It attracts difficult situations. Look at the times he says yes and we get to see him do something unexpected and wonderful. I have been watching "Believe", etc. this past spring as he did several one-offs.
I have often thought wouldn't it be wonderful for him to perform on another planet. It would knock their socks off. Now that is far out --- but he could blow all barriers and minds.

nica575 who is that other celebrity? Cody Simpson is also quite Independent and He does a good Job at keeping fans enganged. I'm really surprised to see how "Doom and gloom" some of you are already about 'superpower'!!! Like wow! It's not even born yet! At least wait what happens in the first week or two after the release. It has already been namedropped in a few articles. I don't think Adam and his team would be so foolish to suddenly expect different results with the same amount of promo as for the other songs. Again from all i gather this song will get all the Bells and whistles. No hate ofc, everyone has their own opinion Just a bit startled that's all. As for Adams social Media: one thing to consider here is Adams psyche. He opened up in that beautiful letter about his mental struggles. Maybe his psyche is more fragile than we think, at least atm. Who knows. And i'd also totally understand, if He chooses to live more in the here and now and not looking at screens as often, a little digital Detox. He has a boyfriend, that deserves his undevided attention.

nica575 Since I do not follow anyone else, what do you see others doing before an album drop that Adam and team are not doing? I am clueless and curious. Well, I only follow one other artist (aside from Bri and Roger), so My “sample of others” is only that... I started following him just last spring. This is what I see: .. upto 20 posts on Instagram every day, by him, not his team... I mean in just a few months since I’ve discovered him I know his family, his pets, his thoughts, his summer tour inside out, including everything they (him and family) did on the days off, the tour bus driver, the best posts by his fans, his band details, museum trips, various thoughts, etc, etc, etc...and it keeps coming! There were gratitude posts to the fans, the venues, before and after show, excerpts from the shows... made me a really devoted fan! now he has a new song dropping on September 6th. Same thing - tens and tens of little insta snippets daily with reminders, gratitude notices, fan reactions, individual fan acknowledgements and what not. if nothing else all the generated excitement makes the fans feel like they are a part of it all! i mean look at Dr. Bri - how genuinely wonderful he is on Twitter and insta! Even though he doesn’t post THAT often... anyhoo... Adam is doing whatever he finds necessary , but after 10 years I can say that imo he distances himself more and more every year...even now that the era4 is well upon us... YMMV Hoping it’ll change and he’ll start connecting to the fandom, the sooner the better love him regardless well I will say that Adam used to be more forthcoming with info when he was newer to the business. There is nothing that we can control in this whole business so I am just going to take it as it comes. Adam has a better career than many singers have so I am happy for him.

It's good to hear from someone who follows someone besides Adam. I do not, so I don't have a good perspective. Nica, I'd like to know if the other person follow is quite a bit younger than Adam? I know that shouldn't make a difference, but I guess it does in some cases. Regardless, Adam has fans of all ages. I would love for him to post more about his interests and his activities in general. But like LindaG23 says, we've around so long that we know him pretty well by now. But as a marketing strategy, keeping more in touch with your fans is always a good thing I am sure there are many more posters here who have a much better feel than me, being that I only follow one artist... it would be niCe to hear from you, guys... I think the fans of “my” artist are mostly somewhere between twenties and fifties(?) , this is just from my observation of the concert crowds on YT... he himself is 48, so not a teen appealing dude A little anecdote: several years ago I followed an actor on Twitter. After a couple of months it became clear that the only stuff he was tweeting about was his side business products... There was absolutely nothing engaging or interesting or about him... so I promptly unfollowed ... the reason I am bringing this up is the fact that Adam’s numbers are pretty stagnant overall, for many years now, with lots of losses that offset new followers... and I can see why. It is not “interesting” to follow him. Obviously it is all up to him, if he’d want to engage the fans he would. I find the latest instagram chat(s) to be forced, largely uninspired and uninspiring... And ya, Javi is kinda god sent not only to Adam but to us too... but, if Adam had posted the same “a bird in the tree” as Javi did recently it would've meant more to me ... I can’t even explain why... So, again, I hope Adam will spring into action after the well deserved Labor Day break!

Sorry, can't help you, Nica...I only follow Adam and Clay a bit (more for some of the fans I've gotten to know than him, since he's not active in the business anymore).
I don't really care how Adam does his promo, it's his career and he pays people to do that. I also get the feeling he's not really comfortable when he does the chats and they seem kind of forced to me, so I'm fine to just read about them afterward. I have often wondered if he's just gotten so much grief over the last 10 years that he interacts less. Fans do tend to get upset and pissed off at him quickly, and we know he tends to have a lack of filter. Maybe he just doesn't want to deal with it, beyond concerts etc. He is who he is, and fans complain about his hair, about what he wears (fur), what he says, etc etc.
He is a very, very busy man, so I'm happy to enjoy his tours with Queen, his personal tours, and his albums when they come out...and all the little projects in between when they come up. For me, personally, I don't need a tour of his house, or a lot of personal details...but that's not me in real life either.

We are so judgmental - analyzing every action and word (the use of "ain't" in a song), unsatisfied with his social media discourse in quantity and quality, and frustrated with the schedule and manner of his music's release and promotion. GOSH! Give the guy a break! Let's allow Adam to do it HIS WAY, as Frank Sinatra reminded us in song so many years ago. His journey may not have been a walk in the park. He has had to deal with rejection, negativity, hatred, threats and exclusion at the same time he had to adjust to the culture shock of losing his privacy and the notoriety of being a public figure after American Idol. We ALL want him to succeed and be the SUPER STAR with SUPER POWER that he is! Is it September 4th yet??????????????

marionmToday is not really doom and gloom. I would call it pre-show jitters or even managing expectations. It's never easy waiting for something over which you have no control but are invested in its success. It will be what it will be whether we over-analyze early clues or not. Five-ish more days to go ....

Adam will do it his way, I don't have any agency to allow him anything. I will also do me my way and ... what do you mean, I want a tour of everybody's house!

I don't think our discussion is so much doom and gloom as it is 10 years worth of experience of getting beyond excited and then getting disappointed. So like Linda says, it's more us trying to manage our expectations. I mean, as far as we're concerned the man with the voice in a billion should have total success right out the gate...but apparently the music business isn't really that much about talent as it is about playing the game. And I don't think "playing the game" is always that easy for Adam, he just seems like such an honest person.
