We have been discussing Adam's activity on Instagram, twitter and various other social media. Is it important for him as an artist to have a strong social media presence? Why has he seemed to withdraw from the activity he used to engage in on social media? Coincidentally, I just came across this TED talk about how craving attention thru social media interferes with creativity. Several of the points the speaker made reminded me strongly of Adam. Good food for thought. Check it out. "Joseph Gordon-Levitt has gotten more than his fair share of attention from his acting career. But as social media exploded over the past decade, he got addicted like the rest of us -- trying to gain followers and likes only to be left feeling inadequate and less creative. In a refreshingly honest talk, he explores how the attention-driven model of big tech companies impacts our creativity -- and shares a more powerful feeling than getting attention: paying attention." www.ted.com/talks/joseph_gordon_levitt_how_craving_attention_makes_you_less_creative?utm_campaign=tedspread&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=tedcomshare

So true.. the competiion to be on ITunes has to be debilitating.. Adam mentioned how competitive the music industry is .. that It's not about the music anymore.. it'a popularity contest. Must take the joy out of singing IMHO,must Make the collaberation with Queen really creative ,and fun. They are all in it together..

Must take the joy out of singing IMHO,must Make the collaberation with Queen really creative ,and fun. They are all in it together.. There probably needs to be some balance. Adam will decide what it is for him, I guess. But what I don't understand is, Adam has cut down some but he still posts on social media and always has. So why are some fans acting as if when he does post something now, it is brand new for him and proves some point? It does not. He has always posted. It may not be to the degree that some may want or need but the things he has posted of late only prove that he posts when he wants to. He is 37 and not a kid so maybe he grew up some and has other priorities besides living on social media. It is still needed for his career and he still engages but fans are trying to dictate the amount and type of activity as if nothing has changed for him. Things have changed. He is in a different space now personally (doesn't seem to be in the clubs as much) and he is indie. Some think the pressure if off now because he is not on a major label and he can just have fun. I don't think the pressure is really off for him. He probably has to handle more things that others once handled. Getting his music heard by someone other than his fans has to be more of a worry for him than entertaining fans on social media, I would think. No radio and no big streaming lists will hurt him more than lack of social media activity. Because only his fans will hear the music. And he is trying to branch out with his career and that takes time and cultivation of people who can help him get there. He has been in the business a long time. Most of us haven't. I would give him a break on this thought that he needs to entertain fans all the time. We were just entertained for months with the huge and successful tour. Now he is going into promotion of his new music which has to be stressful for him. I know it is for me, lol. So his social media activity is not something I am going to waste my worry on but others are free to worry away about it. HA!

lurleene, Adam is not a kid or teen idol. His indie status probably takes some extra time and responsibility. He is in a happy relationship. Anything he gives us on social media is great. I'd love more, but it's his life.
Looks like he's going to be on TV very soon. The Today Show? Or did I read that wrong. Anyway, sounds like a good promo spot to get.
So excited about hearing Superpower! I want it to live up to my wildest expectations!
Javi is very very skinny. And very very cute.

He needs to be engaged on social media even more BECAUSE he is an indie, and not for us, the hardcore fans who bother to hang out here anyway. Imo it is needed to attract and KEEP the possible NEW fans. The fact that the number of his followers does not budge in the last 7-8 years is not an accident.
Lets not not change this into a discussion about what makes any individual here “happy”. That’s not the point. It’s a MACRO issue, not micro.
Again, I am hoping he’ll start seriously engaging Sept. 4th... I feel this is the single they are going to push (idk who “they” are nowadays ).. and I can’t wait to see Adam on TV a few times!

I have two premium VIP tickets for the Global Citizens Festival. This would be the closer of the two VIP sections. Paid $150 for mine and my friend $175 but will make them both $150. Easy to transfer on Ticketmaster.
Haven't put it out on Twitter as I thought I would check in with guys first

I feel this is the single they are going to push (idk who “they” are nowadays ).. and I can’t wait to see Adam on TV a few times! I don’t think, that Adam’s social media will make or break him. I also follow 2 other artists VERY closely. One of them posts regularly about his new music, when he’s on tour, but almost never about anything else. When he’s not touring or has other public appearances, I won’t hear from him for months. The other one posts also only music related things, but very frequently especially backstage from tour. That’s very interesting, but again: Nothing private. All in all, Adam is at the moment very much between these two in the amount of posts. A big plus: he never really vanishes. Both of the other do from time to time. And Adam does twitter parties or IG live stories with fans. I haven’t seen that from any other artist. And in these you get many interesting answers, even though they might be repetive for longtime fans. I know Adam much better, than the other two, although I follow one of them for many many years. But he barely ever talks about his private life, not even in interviews. Fans are still uncertain, if he has children or not... And although the second artists posts all the background infos and often multiple times daily, the other one is much more successful. Social media doesn’t give you new fans. It just entertains the ones you have. I‘ve never seen or heard any fan say: I don’t listen to a musician‘s music any longer or stopped to be a fan, because he doesn’t engage on social media. If they say so, the music isn’t for the, imo, or there simply was no new music for many years. That can for sure kill any interest in a musician, although these fans often come back with new music. The first artist, that I follow, had had a pause in his career of 8 years i. Which time he completely vanished. I think social media can very much have a bad effect as well: I did like a celebrity very much and started to follow him on IG. After I got to see all his posts, that attraction vanished very quickly. It was nothing bad, quite the opposite. But it bored me. It’s a film star and I still watch him. But no, I don’t need to watch him in every film any The same is often with Brian’s posts, when he posts too much about one of his other „hobbies“. It’s interesting to a degree, but it can be too much. My conclusion: sometimes it’s better, not to know too much about someone’s background. In Adam’s case: Adam is simply not for everyone. But his fans will be there, when he has new music, that they like. As will some new fans. More, if the promo is great. And when the new music isn’t good enough, it will vanish quickly - like NE and CIH did. No amount of social media engagement will change that. That’s my take on that topic. Edit: By the way: I also follow older artists, who barely ever use their social media accounts.

I do think it would feel awful to concentrate every day on "how many new followers do I have?". It would drive you bonkers in no time and is something we tell regular peeps not to do. Someone earlier said they followed an artist who posted 20 times a day, omg, I'd unfollow in a hurry and worry about the artist's sanity. So what makes for a committed fan? I guess for me it's not Instagram, it's not Twitter, it's not Facebook. So hmmm, a 10 year fan that can care less about being on the traditional social channels. I seem to be here for the fan community. What? not the artist? Yes. And I feel we have a long way to go in increasing our community instead of pushing Adam to increase his followers. Do we (royal we) ever hold our own twitter parties? Do we advertise the various fan communities like Adamtopia so people can find us? We do have some coordination such as streamers - would new Adam followers know about that? - No. Does anyone engage new followers - hey come join us? Not much. Do twitter folks talk about Adam? yes but mostly only to other known Adam followers. #superpower seems like an easy one to engage other social media folks - What's your superpower - or for those down in the dumps - have you listed to Feel Something? it might make you feel something. I think we are very insular - we only listen to Adam music, we only talk to Adam fans. Just IMO
