New thread is up and I could only fit some of the news. So nice to have so much! SuperPower is #64 on iTunes worldwide! Note the miss-spelling in tomorrow's thread. "Steam it" should be "Stream it". Unless of course you are meaning to infer that the video is streamy, which it certainly is with all those hip gyrations!

Some people are naturally good dancers and pick up moves very easily. It does not mean you picked up those skills from friends. We can give Adam some credit for how well he moves unless we know otherwise. We do know from some interview that Adam did have some dance training in his musical theater group and that he practiced alot. He just did not have the kind of indepth dance training that a professional dancer has. And given the number of Adsm's friends, especially really close friends like Terrance, who are professional dancers, it is almost guaranteed that they have taught him alot. There is obvious dance technique in many of Adam's moves just like there is obvious vocal technique in his singing. It's obvious to those who have had dance training, but may just look natural to someone who has not in the same way that vocal technique may not be obvious to those not trained in vocal technique. While ease of movement may come very naturally to Adam, those techniques are not natural, they are taught. And I noticed a very obvious belly dancer among Adam's artistic friends in his If I Had You video - the person with the big ISIS Wings. I would bet that Adam has learned a number of belly dance moves from this friend. I've seen him do the moves so many times. But then many of those moves are common with other styles of dancing too. I guess. I like the way Adam moves with more natural movements. And I have never been a big fan of Terrance and Johnny's style of dancing and to me Adam does not move like them. They are really good dancers, but as much I don't like Chris Brown and Derulo, I prefer their dance styles much better. So I was only saying that maybe Adam has some good moves on his own and not that he has never practiced. I don't think you can be in the business he has been in most of his life and not practice. But I would not be so quick to give the credit to his friends, if I didn't know they were responsible. Maybe his friends are responsible or maybe he picked up some techniques from others in the business. I doubt he was only around his friends.

Adam has been in the business long enough to pick up dance moves and add his own flavor to it, but I have a feeling that some of his friends taught him a bit of technique also. Terrance might have been one of them, as well as Brooke. The turns that Adam has shown us occasionally don't come naturally, they have to be learned as there is a technique involved called "spotting". And I saw him do that.

Ok course Adam's dance ability is not just from his friends. He had training in music theater since he was 10, so likely lots of different instructors and choreographers that he has learned from. And he has lots of different dance friends, some very close like Terrance and Johnny, and some more on the acquaintance end of friendship. They all helped each other in theater from some of the things he has said. Another example, Adam worked with Adam Shankman, who is one of the choreographers/judges from So You Think You Can Dance, for some of the Ghostown choreography performances. He knew Shankman from something previous. I don't know if it was from theater or the gay club scene but they appear to be more of the acquaintance type of friends. Every dancer develops their own style that is an accumulation of everything they have been taught from all sources and their own abilities and likes and dislikes.

Yes, it was very obvious in a video from one of the TOH concerts. We had a big discussion about it at the time. In addition to the spotting technique, there was also the spin prep technique before the spin and the technique for stopping the spin on a dime. I think I went into great detail about the techniques.

I think we are on the same page now. Makes a lot of sense. I have no professional dance experience but I was always a very good natural dancer. My family would call me in to entertain guests, lol. You could not get me off the dance floor. Knew every new dance and move that came out. When I was in middle school and high school they put me in modern dance. But when I hit the clubs or parties, I threw all of that out the window because to me it was more musical theater style dancing and not the "cool kids" type dancing with the "cool crowd" that I enjoyed so much more. I'm sure it was all in my head, and I should have continued the training, but there it was. HA.

But I have had close to 20 years of amature competition level training in ballroom dance plus 20 years in a very amature belly dance troupe.

DancyGeorgia good to know the backround to your name. Could someone please point me to the discussion about Adams dancing that you just referred to?
