I am not sure anyone can answer but still: why should we Shazam when a radio station is playing SP? I can Shazam any time by playing it myself... do we know that Shazam (the company) is going to correlate a random radio play to a Shazam (the action) and assign a higher importance to it? i see lots of calls for shazaming from radio or TV both here and on Twitter and I can never understand the logic behind these efforts...

I think "they" keep track of the Shazam numbers and it's charted somewhere. When I Shazam from a radio station playing it, I mention where I'm hearing the song by including the twitter handle for the radio station and the dj who is playing the song.. I'm assuming it might be perceived as more legit that way.
