I do not believe that shutting down the topic of political discussion is stifling us, as someone claimed. As members of this forum, we are asked to adhere to not discussing just a few things. Political discussion is one of those things we are asked to avoid. Do I agree that everyone (and me as well) have the right and responsibility to participate in the political process? Yes. Just not here, unless this guideline is revoked or a separate section apart from this is created. Just my thoughts... . Hi. “Someone” here. I just want to say that historically, political censorship (the shutting down of political topics) has never been a positive thing for society. This is not a private forum. It is public. To direct political discussions to a private chat room makes me queasy. Maybe the rules need to be re-examined. There is a reason why there were some complaints about the dearth of interesting discussions. I agree that there should be a rule about people not being nasty to each other, but this subject, at this time, should not be swept under the rug. My opinion and nothing more.

This is in my top looks. I have cheekily considered tweeting him that CDC facial hair guideline chart for effective protection with a mask just to see if he would shave. That wouldn't technically be telling him to lose the facial hair now would it?!? Of course I would never do it, but a girl can dream. Can you post the CDC guideline link here for us?

Let me just note that the urgency of political discussion on this forum is not the same for others than Californians at this point in time. Yes, I know California is in the super Tuesday mix, but I'm from New Jersey, and we don't get to vote in a primary until June. (At which point, there's usually no contest, so to speak.) So any discussion of the various D candidates can go to a more directed thread. Just giving my perspective on why the mods are right. I was actually talking about the general political climate, not just the candidates. It’s getting serious out there! I think discussing the general political climate across the world as it applies to the LGBT+ community is certainly an Adam topic. But the discussion here was getting down to the point of people endorsing their favorite D candidate in the US and that I think is beyond the bounds of this forum. All the D candidates are LGBT+ friendly, so the choice of your favorite comes down to other topics such as opinions about the best way to deliver health care or pay for an education. Those are not LGBT+ specific issues.

I can see both positions. The absolute urgency of the current political Situation (not just in the us) but also the dire need for escape, a safe place from the mindblowing garbage you hear every day.
In all seriousnes, without snark i sincerily and genuinly with all my heart want to express my deepest sympathy for the American people, i pitty you. This primary campaining election Circus has been going on for almost a year and there are several more months to go. I'm truly glad that our elections happen more quietly.

To me, the issue isn't public vs. private; the issue is the purpose of this particular news thread on this particular site. This thread is for "Adam News and Info." Ergo, it is intended for discussing Adam. There is another thread, on this very site, where political discussion would be perfectly fine. Asking people to take off-topic conversations to that thread is not censorship, IMO. And I can pretty much guarantee two things. First, if political discussion is permitted in the news thread, pretty soon it will overtake Adam discussion completely. Just check out the Twitter feed at the bottom of the page on a typical non-concert, non-major-Adam-news day. Second, the discussions will not remain civil, at least not without a lot more attention from the mods than is currently required. Politics has always been a hot button issue, but never more than now. Particularly since the advent of this current presidency, families and friendships have been destroyed over differences of political opinion. There are endless places where politics can be discussed, including, as I mentioned, a different thread here. Nobody is saying it isn't a vitally important subject. But please, let there be one place where it can be escaped if we need a break from it.

It has been around for a few years and only is for wearing tight fitting respirators like the N95 respirator. The CDC is not recommending that people shave but the infographic has been floating around for the last few days. www.sciencealert.com/no-the-cdc-is-not-telling-people-to-shave-to-avoid-covid-19www.cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/pdfs/FacialHairWmask11282017-508.pdf

There are endless places where politics can be discussed, including, as I mentioned, a different thread here. Nobody is saying it isn't a vitally important subject. But please, let there be one place where it can be escaped if we need a break from it. I feel like I should chime in on this subject, as I was one of the initial commenters. I thought about responding to someone's very mild political post for a while and then decided to go for it as I felt that my comment was relating to Adam as well. I tried to respectfully state my own opinion and left it there, as in the end we all won't agree anyways. I personally don't get offended by other people's views, in fact I do appreciate them. It helps me understand and process what's going on, and often I do learn from others. I am quite familiar with the mantra that religion, money, or politics should not be discussed in public as they are hot button subjects, but I am not so sure how productive toward a democratic society that really is. For me personally, and it is clearly part of my upbringing, there is nothing that can't be talked about as long as it's done respectfully. There are fine lines of course, and I understand that everybody has a different comfort zone, but mine is pretty much that everything goes. Of course I will respect the rules on this forum and I will take my political discussions elsewhere then. Currently, my focus is very much geared toward the future of our country and Adam can only distract from that in small chunks here and there. I can not wait to see him in Vegas. Fingers crossed that the Corona virus won't mess with us.
