Idol is really going off the rails this season (and some the last two) with the gay stereotypes as joke contestants or just plain OTT. I am so glad that Adam competed when he did and showed that his talent, and he as a young man, was to be taken seriously. He never hid his sexuality but made it just normal and matter of fact. He did not announce hey I'm gay EVERY show, he was just who he was. That is not a selling point to the Idol voters. And as bad as Simon and Randy and Ryan had been before his season, they showed nothing but respect for Adam. Of course it helped that he commanded it with his presence. I can't help but feel that Katy, Lionel and Luke and maybe the producers are exploiting these contestants. Let them compete on the same grounds and level as all the others without the grinning and hooping. I'm afraid they haven't come as far as they pretend.

Didn't even watch tonight. Should I get a repeat play from my cable provider? I think this was the duets round?

Have to say, I love Velvet (the song), but I don't care for On the Moon or Love Don't. Just can't get into either one. Velvet was love at first listen, as was Loverboy and Superpower. I like "Velvet" the title track but it took me a few listens, and I too am not wild about the two other new releases. I think I just got spoiled with SideA and my personal favorite "Roses", as so many of the previous songs were love at first listen. I am not complaining though - the album overall is tremendous and for me the absolute best so far, and with only 3 songs out of 12 that are just okay for me I think Adam did pretty darn well. I too felt an instant connection with "Loverboy" and "Superpower" and they are so much fun live as well. I still have the fondest memories of the December concerts and I really can't wait for Adam to slay with his "Velvet" tour once life gets normal again. Funny different preferences. Love Don’t is close to my favourite. I prefer Adams growling vocals over an acoustic led guitar solo. Strongest as far as Radio single choices. Is probably Velvet or Roses. I can see Love Don’t as a MV on MTV though.

I went back and listened to the new songs again, with my eyes closed. I agree that Love Don't should be really fun live or in form of a music video, or even as that special song with QAL, and "Velvet" is more like a slow burner for me. My DH liked it instantly though. Interesting thoughts about the next radio single. I sure would not object to "Roses"

Love Velvet (the song and vid) and of course Roses. I really like Love Don't, esp. after I read the lyrics a few times. On the Moon sounds awfully mushy and drone-y to me. The lyrics are kind of spacey and nice but the sound of it is very blurry to me. I'd rather he sang it with more crisply pronounced words. JMO. As a whole both sides of Velvet are VERY GOOD. Ready To Run is one of my faves. SP, of course. Enjoying it ALL. Gonna stream more tomorrow. For some strange reason, "Ready To Run" gives me "After Hours" feelz. And I really like "After Hours".

While I love all of Side A - if I really had to name my least favourite song, Loverboy would most likely be it. On the other hand, On the Moon was love at first listen and Love Don't keeps getting better the more often I listen to it. But isn't it great that there is something for everybody on the album?

Really cool actually that Adam taps into different vibes with this album, as we all feel drawn to different songs, yet for me he made "Velvet" cohesive in sound. It clearly describes him as an artist. Job well done!
