I thought opening the show with Duran Duran's New Wave version of Five Years was so good. The greatest surprise for me was Michael C. Hall singing Where Are We Now. He's a famous actor, but I never knew he could sing. He sang it beautifully and with a lot of emotion. I thought it was great. If the songs will be available to d/l, in addition to Adam's song I will also d/l Taylor Momsen's Quicksand. She chose a beautiful song and gave it new life, and I'd love to be able to go back and listen to it every now and then. I too was especially impressed with the first half hour of the show and then with many of the artists who followed. Michael C. Hall was incredible! I was googling who they were once I saw in the chat area who they were. I had no idea he could sing. He has been singing with a band since 2018. Singing must have been a passion ---just not known to most. It still surprises me when a show business person demonstrates a talent so different than the box I put them in. Barry Bostwick was an actor who had a role in the comedy Spin City. He did a singing performance on tv one time and ended it doing the splits!!!! Holy Moly. If you read his wiki it reads on for miles--- Tony Award winner in Grease, in a band in the early days, even a star in Rocky Horror Picture Show movie. (Adam connection) It was an amazing evening listening to so many talented artists, new to me!

Regarding Adam's place in multi-artist lineups...sometimes he's toward the end, and sometimes he isn't. For Cyndi Lauper's A Home for the Holidays, I was a few minutes late tuning in, and he'd already performed. I know in at least one of those big online charity events - maybe You Can't Cancel Pride, but I'm not sure - he was also very close to the beginning. On the other hand, he was at the end of that Disney Sing-Along Christmas special, except for Andrea Bocelli. For Cyndi, I'll just go with the idea that she wanted to get the event off to a rousing start. I figured Adam's "Starman" would be something special, and it was. I love that Mike Garson's intro told us exactly how Adam came to be involved - from the AMAs, of all events. I can only imagine how "blown away" he would have been if Adam had been at the top of his game, vocally! Just proves that Adam's "not his best" is still miles above what many artists can do on their best days. I think it was girldrummer who mentioned in yesterday's thread that "Starman" really showed off Adam's voice. I dunno...as much as I love the song, which I do, I don't really see it as a song that, by its very nature, provides a vocal showcase for a singer. I can sing along with it easily enough, and I'm nobody's idea of a singer. I'm willing to bet most singers could do a perfectly acceptable job with it and sound just fine. To me, it's more a case that Adam is such a skilled singer with such a gorgeous voice that he can make pretty much any song sound extraordinary. It's a matter of what Adam was able to bring to it that made it so special from a vocal standpoint (same with Bowie, for that matter, although in a different way). Even when a song doesn't push the limits of what Adam is capable of, vocally, he can still be amazing - his artistry goes beyond what a song does or doesn't require of him. ETA: Another review: www.theguardian.com/music/2021/jan/10/david-bowie-a-bowie-celebration-review-just-for-one-dayWhen Adam reads that review, I picture him saying, "That's what I was goin' for!" Remember? Loved him then, love him now - can't wait to see what's next!

So many questions. Is Adam in the US or UK? Did he come back from Amsterdam? Is this pre-recorded? Hope he isn't flying back and forth from LA to UK, both COVID hot-spots, during this global pandemic. IMHO I think too much trust is put into testing. Maybe he got the vaccine and I have nothing to worry about.

Some of the many tweets from TikTokers discovering Adam in Ratatouille.. they all seem to know who he is. 👍
