Note: As you see there were not many sentences to translate LOL. They are just talking about the Finnish TV programs.
K: Okay, okay. Let’s try… (laughs) S: Okay K: …to be a little more positive… S: Let’s laugh (forced laughter) ”hahahaha” K: (imitates) hah hah ha hah S: (laughs) K: Oh jeez… Really, I don’t know…
They continue talking about Finnish TV shows for the whole Tutka: Dream Weddings, Iholla, Korkojen Kera/Vappu Pimiä, Suomen kaamein kämppä (“The most awful home in Finland”). .
*-*-* In the end:
K: Hey, everybody have a wonderful week! And sorry that we were a little bit… sort of.. Not so… Well, let’s say that we were on a pretty honest mood today. S: (waves hands and gestures while Katri speaks) (laughter) K: Yes yes, okay! (waves) Bye! S: Okay, bye everybody! Hei moi, until next week! (laughter)

Note: Not much to translate , they talked a lot but about the TV programs...
S: ... some personal matters here. (laughs) K: Hehe, well now we’re recording. (laughs) Yeah. Moi! S: Moi! Hei! K: We, Sauli and I have already been talking for like half an hour here and actually gone through all the things already… S: I see here that we’ve been at this for 25 minutes already, and now we are just starting…. K: (laughs) S: Somehow we got stuck just talking to each other at first… . K: Yeah, but it’s so… S: I think we already made like one Tutka here when we were talking, based on our stories, but… K: I mean… S: ... maybe it’s a bit (sound breaks) here. K: Really, Sauli said we should make two Tutkas next time. When we started… we realized… We started with writing down all the programs (shows her notes) that are starting now, and… S: (shows his notes) K: I mean, even now we don’t have enough time! So well, I mean, how…. since there’s more to come... that Super-Marjo is starting tomorrow, and Viidakon tähtöset starts on Thursday… and we already have Idols and Voice and Dream Weddings and… S: ... and Iholla and all… K: … and Iholla… Yeah. Oh dear God… S: I mean I’m totally shocked, I just… I... I even have a blog coming… I wrote there that I… that all these TV programs have a sort of restricted my life now... K: (laughs) S: ... pretty much as they are kind of taking half of my day (laughs) K: I was laughing so much when you commented on that… S: My eyes are all red here, I’m just following all these Finnish TV programs. And now to add more - Viidakon tähtöset and, well, umm, Super-Marjo starting. K: Yeah, luckily they all last only half an hour, I think. S: Luckily. K: ... maybe. S: ... Luckily, and luckily they haven’t now made dozens of epi.. those seas… (laughs - he is looking for the Finnish word for “episode”)… I can’t even… K: I hope so too. Look… (shows the newspaper) S: (laughs)… I just have the American word “seasons” on my mind now… K: Oh no, they have something awful coming in Secret lives -episode on Good Friday. Seppo is doing something now… (Note: Secret lives is a daily Finnish soap opera) But I was trying to find that Super-Marjo here - now, look at this! (shows) In today’s paper. Can you see? S: (reads the headline out loud) ”Wild stuff.” K: Yeah. They continue talking about TV programs, mostly about Idols and Voice of Finland until the end.
We would have translated if there'd been something to translate... but the whole thing is about Finnish Idol and Voice of Finland. - Miachihu (Miachihu) & Zinnia (@tiiqqu) -

K: (sings) ”Paljon onnea vaan, paljon onnea vaan , paljon onnea rakas Sauli, paljon onnea vaan!” Iiiiiii! (nauraa) (Note: This is the song ”Happy birthday to you” in Finnish. Note that in Finnish the song does not specifically say “Happy birthday”, but “Congratulations”, so the song can basically be sung on almost any occasion when you want to congratulate someone.) S: Wonderful! K: Now really, I… well, I really miss you so terribly much Sauli. Since exactly one year ago we went to… (laughs at Sauli’s expressions and gestures)… exactly one year ago we went… we left to make the Roadshow. S: Yeah. And here we are, I’m still here. Haven’t gotten anywhere away from here (laughs) K: Oh yeah, and where have I gone? I’m here in the exact same place. S: Back to the grind! K: What? S: You got back to the grind, I’m still here kinda out of control. K: Mmm, true. This everyday life is really always so wonderful… Oh boy… S: You have such a nice milieu there… (sound breaks) (points to his back) K: We have almost as nice here… (takes a look behind herself in the newsroom) S: Yes, sure. But for once it’s this way around – I mean it’s evening for Katri and morning for me! K: True, I’m on the evening shift here. S: Do you see how fresh I am here? I’ve been, geezh… I went for a run already before Tutka and all, it’s high time to get some exercise now since I’ve been eating such junk food lately. K: Oh yeah? What’s going on now, those super-shots not to your liking anymore? S: No, well… I’m getting back on track again now, but since I just got back home from a trip yesterday, so… K: Oh yeah, you were in Seattle. Did you have fun? S: Seattle, yeah. I really had fun. I liked the both cities, but well… yeah, it was lovely. K: Yeah, I’ve been in Seattle too… “Seattle” in this Finnish way (she pronounces the name of the city like it was Finnish) S: Yeah. K: ... actually a couple of times, yeah. They have that really nice, that, umm… harbor area where there are lots… but it’s quite touristy… quite touristy. I don’t know if it is that at this time of the year, like it was on summer. S: Yes, yes, but it really is nice to get away from LA, just like I’ve already said before, to those a bit smaller (cities). You get a little bit sort of homely feeling, like if you were in Helsinki, you can see a bit of the harbor and all, and the people are so relaxed there and… K: True, it’s all different because LA is so big and it’s spread out so widely and like, too busybusy and there are cars going back and forth… S: Yeah, and then since LA is LA after all, it’s nice to get away from here every once in a while too. K: Well yeah, since it’s your home now, it’s nice to get away from there, just like from here, too. S: Yes, yeah. Like for a vacation. K: Mmm… Well, yeah… S: I really do need a vacation… K: Sorry? S: I said I really do need a vacation here. K: Oh yeah, you have all those busybusy things, so much to do and going on… S: Yeah, I do. I’m running here head over heels from once place to another. I’m just gushing sweat… K: Sure! S: Well, yeah – but hey, today is my nameday! And… K: Right! S: ... I was just saying to Katri that this is so fun that I have today… I had already yesterday my nameday… or I mean today… what is it there now? (time) K: (checks her watch) It’s ten pm, you’ve had your nameday all day already, for ten hours, no, I mean… S: Then I have, yeah, my nameday started yesterday but I’m still continuing it here and tomorrow starts my birthday and that’ll end up lasting for two days, too. This is a real party week, this one. K: Oh yeah, that’s pretty cool. Oh wow. How are you going to celebrate your birthday? S: I have no idea yet… I really don’t have any big plans. But let’s say that nothing really insane… just some nice group of friends and then somewhere to have a nice dinner and… K: So no Lady Gaga’s gig planned? (laughs) S: No. Let’s say that when I’m turning 30, like in three years, then I could have a bigger party. But let’s say that now when I’m turning just 27, it’s not really such a big deal, so… K: Old man. S: … that… Let’s say that no matter what birthday it is and whether it’s an important birthday or not, it’s nicer that you have just that group of your own friends there and it’s not like any mega… I don’t need any megaparties. K: Yeah, no… It’s a pity you can’t be here. S: And then, my bestest friends are, the closest ones are there in Finland… K: Mmm S: ... after all, so well… K: When you come here I promise I’ll give you a bubbly party! (laughs) S: (unclear) K: At this time of year that would be… (laughs) S: But so Katri, welcome! My birthday’s starting tomorrow, welcome here! K: Yeah. I still have… S: I’ll send you an invitation later today, I will post it on Facebook. K: Yeah, nice… so nice that you really… how do you say it…? Grind… “Grind blood to wound.” (laughs) No, no blood, I mean…! Oh God! (Note: Katri is so hopeless with the proverbs..) S: Katri, Katri – don’t, don’t, don’t try! (laughs) K: I just can’t… oh my god! S: We’ve talked about this! K: (laughs) S: Especially since you’re there all tired this late in the evening – don’t even try! K: Exactly, I really am so tired. Oh boy, okay. Hey, really, I have to tell you what I just did… I was giggling when I came here while I was waiting for Sauli to come to Skype, so I was honestly giggling… I can’t remember when I’ve last giggled so much… at work, I mean, like, without a break… I’ve been here, all the time… people have been trying to make the paper ready for the press and I’m here just, like “gigglegiggle” (demonstrates). “This can’t be true, this can’t be true.” That’s what I’ve been babbling here. S: What have you been doing? Why were you giggling? K: (laughs) I’ve been watching the next episode of Viidakon tähtöset… (They continue talking about Finnish TV programs until the end.)

K: Okay, now it’s taping. (laughs and claps her hands) (Sauli is turning his head from side to side with a smile glued on his face.) K: OMG I can’t take that, Sauli! It was so funny a minute ago when your picture just froze there, like (shows a really wide smile) with a real Pepsodent smile. S: I promise now I’ll smile during the whole Tutka… (laughter) K: I was just saying to Sauli that we have to be happy and cheerful now since we’ve been criticized about being so negative… (laughs) S: (with a perma-smile) I’ll show you all my smiles right here in the beginning so that I can start criticizing again later on… K: Yeah, right… oh dear… Hey… S: Okay, there were my smiles, to everyone equally. K: … there we go now! Okay, so now we can start putting down everyone after that. S: So here we go… We’re on – today we’ll tackle Idols and Viidakon tähtöset and… We have nothing good to say about Helsingin herrat, either… K: (laughs) Exactly! We just agreed that “Now we’ll be positive!” And then “Now we’ll start talking about Helsingin herrat… and oh God how bad it has turned!” Well okay, it really can’t be called bad, not… They continue talking about Helsingin herrat and about a new TV program where they hypnotize people. Sauli is interested in it, he wouldn’t want to be hypnotized himself but he’d like to be able to hypnotize other people. *.*.* 7.55 S: By the way, I just heard - now from one thing to the zillionth - that the winter struck back there. K: Yeah, it did, but we’ll get rid of it, don’t worry! S: Hah hah! (laughter) K: Hey, but Viidakon tähtöset… S: No, seriously - I just wrote in my blog that I’ll be sending you, like (gestures with his hands) some burning rays of sun. so… K: Is it really warm there? S: Well, no… okay, yeah… today we again had a really really hot day. K: How hot? S: Well, about +26 C (about 79 F) K: (sighs) S: It really wasn’t so awfully hot but I mean, as there was no wind at all the sun was really burning when you were outside. K: Hey, a question: How do you celebrate Easter there? S: (quiet for a moment) I really don’t know… K: (laughs) Do they even have Easter there…? They have… S: Well, I’ve already been here for a year… we were even together here last Easter. K: Well yeah, but I can’t remember what we did at Easter then? Nothing I guess, as we didn’t even realize it was Easter… S: There are those different colored eggs in grocery stores and other Easter stuff, so apparently they do have… they do celebrate Easter here… but, really… K: Well yeah, sure it exists there, but I don’t know if they – if it’s celebrated there with some kind of special sort of festivities. I don’t know since when we were there we had no idea, and when Good Friday arrived we were, like “Oh yeah, by the way, it’s Easter now.” S: No, we didn’t… K: We really didn’t notice it. I don’t know, do people go to work there as usual (on Good Friday)? I don’t… I guess… S: We two were probably so drunk that time that we just totally missed it… K: All the time. Absolutely, all the time… jeez! (Note: they are definitely kidding here!) S: (laughs) K: Hey, by the way, when did we actually air the first Roadshow? Because we were thinking about actually giving you a nice surprise… or also to us a nice surprise and we’ll start watching our Tutka Roadshows on the same schedule as it was aired exactly a year ago… Like, that on the same day it was aired a year ago, we’ll show it here. So I’ll start posting on our Facebook… S: Yeah, yeah! K: Yes! We’ll post on Facebook on our Tutka pages, I mean that… we’ll post the links to the episodes there. S: I should really watch them myself, I haven’t watched them since… K: Right! S: … well, since we made them, that’s when I watched them. K: We were even going to have a Roadshow marathon, we were going to watch them all in one go, but we haven’t had time for that yet. S: Well yeah, since we haven’t exactly been in the same country… K: (laughs) So maybe now… at least like this, one episode at a time… S: Yeah. K: But hey, yeah, well… A man interrupts Katri and starts asking about the opening hours and other stuff regarding the exhibition which is in the same lobby where Katri is taping Tutka. Sauli has fun while Katri is talking with the man. Then they continue talking about Viidakon tähtöset and other TV programs. *.*.* 21.26 (First negative feedback to the Idols performers and then Katri remembers the “being positive” agreement: ) K: Okay, now we’ve been suitably positive during the whole end part of this… S: Yeah, but that smile of mine in the beginning will compensate this negativity… K: (laughs) S: … these negative comments. K: Exactly. Hey okay, well - we’ll continue next week and then also with the Finnish Girls in New York, too (This is a new Finnish reality TV show), and remember… S: Yes. K: … that it is at the same time as… S: Okay, plenty of programs coming… K:…Viidakon tähtöset S: But we’ll go through them… yeah, and on the other hand, let’s hope that Helsingin herrat next time is so … that it would leave a bit more cheerful feeling. K: Right, exactly. Hey, well… S: Bye (gets ready to wave) K: … what are you going to do this weekend now that it’s Easter? S: Ummmmm… it isn’t now?… I mean now, this weekend? K: Now. S: What day is it today? Wednesday? Wait… K: Mm-hmm. S: … I have no idea. Probably just go out somewhere to eat. K: Okay. I might also go to Turku (a city in southern Finland), to visit my Godchildren. S: Okay. K: Then I’ll try to have some peace and quiet… it’s been somewhat hectic lately. Somehow this cold spell in spring hasn’t really been the world’s nicest surprise, so now we are just trying to cope with it again. But well, yeah… S: Yeah. K: Hey, let’s wish everyone a lovely wonderful Easter and eat a lot of mämmi (traditional Finnish Easter pudding) and Easter eggs… and… I like… S: I really don’t like that mämmi… K: Me neither, but the Kinders… (Kinder chocolate eggs) S: Well Kinder eggs (Katri shows thumbs-up), they are the best. K: Mmm, they are the best. S: Yes, eat those. K: (cracks up) “Eat those!” Exactly! S: (laughs) K: Hey, shall we start fighting the same way as in Viidakon tähtöset… Oh yeah, but you can’t know about it yet, as next time they will fight over salty licorice, so watch it… it will be interesting. S: Oh wow! I can’t wait! I have to suffer for two more days before I can see it… K: Yes, yes. S: But well, hey, moikka everybody! K: Moikka! Moi moi! S: We are saying now Good night and Good day! I’m going to bed. (laughter) K: Moi! S: Moi!

(laughter) S: … we’re not so fresh… Hey, hi there! K: Hi hi hi! S: Big apologies to everyone for Tutka coming out so late this week. K: Mmm. Yeah, I mean (laughter)… we’ve had a little bit of these ”technical” problems, once again we here… S: ”A little bit”… Just a moment ago I was yelling my lungs out here… K: (laughs) S: … when this laptop wasn’t working, again. I have… I tried three different computers and… geezh… K: But hey, Sauli has a headset, now we are kinda look-alikes. S: Yeah (laughs) K: Many people have been wishing for that. (headset for Sauli) S: I had to… The sound wasn’t coming out from this laptop anymore and… Notice, I’m also in a totally different milieu… (moves to the side on his chair so the background is visible).. here now. K: True, and I said that it’s still as dark as before over there, so Sauli - we still can’t see anything of you but we’ll just have to be satisfied with the dark Sauli now again (laughs) S: Yeah (laughs) K: Hey, well, now we… S: Let’s say that no-one wants to watch this face at this time of the night since it’s once again almost one am, I’m looking so tired here that… whew. K: Well that’s true! (laughter) K: Well, umm, how are things going over there? S: Here? Fine! K: Anything special? S: (thinks for a while) Well, just everyday living, normal life. K: Well, nothing special going on here either. S: The sun is shining and… and all’s fun. (laughs) K: We also have here, like…, well for tomorrow… they have promised temperatures around +12 - + 13 degrees (Celsius) for tomorrow, and sunshine. And that’s for the weekend. S: Oh! K: Yeah, really… like pretty weather (sighs). I’m so looking forward to it. Here it’s now like… when I look outside now it’s like, well… it’s kind of… like the grass is sort of brownish (laughs) S: (laughs) K: It’s like the basic spring here. But the snow has melted! (claps her hands and jams on her chair) S: Well that’s great. Not long now before you can go to the beach… K: Exactly. S: … some beach like Hietsu (Hietaranta, a popular beach in Helsinki) K: Hey, omg - guess what I have forgotten? S: Well? K: It’s because I’ve supposedly had such a busy week… or I did have, but that’s not worth getting into now… yeah, I’ve forgotten that we were supposed to start our Tutka Roadshow re-run, we were going to put those videos up there on our… (laughter) S: Well, that was a good start! K: … because it was exactly at this time of the year we were there. Oh and now hey - we have been talking about making a Roadshow in the summer here in Finland, and now… we can’t promise that with absolute certainty yet because we have to check our schedules and see how much they are crossing again, so… S: Yeah. But we’ll try to do something at some time somewhere and surely we will do. K: Mmmm, right, yeah… S: That we can promise. K: … absolutely, we can promise that we’ll do something but if we can’t do it then like we planned I’m already getting annoyed for all those good ideas we had being wasted. But now… omg, help, now there are people coming here… and also the phone is ringing… omg omg omg… S: Oh dear… K: Wait! Now I have to… (moves the headset and answers the phone: “Hi, you are now on live video because we are shooting right now here…) S: (laughs) ”On live” – Well, if he is calling you, isn’t that pretty much “on live”… K: (listens, then: Yes. Yes. I’ll be there right after we finish taping this. Good, good. Yes. In fifteen minutes. Good, okay – bye!)(To Sauli: ) Now see, this is what it’s like when… (puts the headset back on) S: Did they… are they calling you from upstairs that you should get back to the real work? K: Yeah, it was them. Exactly so, that I have to start writing articles again right away… This is really sooo… I wasn’t lying to you for nothing about being busy… No, not lying, I mean saying! (laughs) S: Geezh… K: Well, okay… S: Should we start now right from… K: Yes we should, because yeah - they say I’m kinda supposedly busy and I have to go and write about a million stories. I’m the only editor there again today, so… this is how it goes every once in a while. S: (laughs) K: Nice, nice… So… Well, hey… (they continue talking about the TV programs) *.*.* 10:47 – 11:20 (Talk about Viidakon tähtöset, they are criticizing the production of the program) K: (explains very excitedly, waves her hands) S: … That’s really stupid… you should be able, for f*ck’s … s-s-sorry (slaps hands on his mouth, bursts into laughter) K: ”Beep!” (laughs) S: ”Beep…” You see, you can see that Sauli here is getting a bit worked up… I have to say that a while ago I cussed out so many dirty words when this laptop wasn’t working that I guess I kinda got stuck with that… (laughs) K: (laughs) That was absolutely the best… especially that reaction of yours (imitates Sauli) It was like you were… I wish you would react like that every time you do something… S: You see, that’s how I always react when I’m swearing, you see, since I hardly ever swear… I always scare myself then too. K: (laughs) Sure… *.*.*
The original video was cut in two pieces and here is the second part (2½ minutes).
In this clip there is nothing to translate, it's just the end of their discussion about the Finnish TV programs.

K: (opens the connection, jams, claps her hands) S: (laughs) Wow, you started this like it’s a rave! K: (laughs) Show us a little of your… S: (jams) K: Absolutely fabulous… S: OMG,… this always reminds me of Las Vegas and the elevators. K: (laughs) Exactly, that was so… omg… okay… hey, it’s now - what time it is there…? Eight in the morning? S: Well, it’s eight in the morning. So I had to wake up at 7.30… I can’t remember the last time I woke up at 7.30, people really shouldn’t have to wake up quite this early (laughs) K: There’s a reason for this… but first I really have to tell you some… Sauli… sad news. There’s… S: Yes? K: … a reason why I’m shooting at this direction (points at her back) S: Tell me K: I mean, this is absolutely shocking, really… I can’t describe… S: Oh my God, has it been blown up…? K: I’m so angry now, I’m so hurt that I won’t shoot at the direction of Wayne’s coffee because there’s been… S: Well? K: … something terrible going on. I’ll show you (turns the camera). I mean, this is just shocking. That bloody café has changed its’ name in the meantime... S: Ah… K: …and no-one has told us! (turns the camera back) S: Oh my god. You have… and now that’s the end of your free sponsor coffees there too, right? K: (laughs) I mean… Damn, if they quit the sponsor coffees just because they change their name, they’ll hear from me afterwards! Nooo… S: Okay. You just go and start bargaining after Tutka. K: Really! But guess what? I have one good trump card which I can use to get some coffee… S: Well? K: … and here it is! (Didi appears on the screen beside Katri and waves. Didi, Diandra Flores is 17, she’s in the Top 3 of the Finnish Idols right now, she comes from Sauli’s hometown, they’ve been in the same theatre play, so they know each other.) D: Hi! S: Yippee! Absolutely great! This is unbelievable to get you to Tutka, Didi! K: Yes, it is! D: It’s great to be here, thank you! S: Oh dear! Great! Well done, Katri! K: Yesss! Now, after this I’ll go and get those coffees for us… (says to Didi) D: Yes (laughs) K: But yes, it’s great to have you here as our guest, Didi… D: Thank you. K: Didi has actually been watching our Tutkas already for a long time now. Do you remember which one was the first episode you saw, you just told me there. What did we do? D: (tells about an episode from a couple of years back) S: OMG, how long has it been since that... two, three years. K: Yes, it has. Oh God… S: Oh dear, wow. K: OMG! Well, have you been listening carefully there in the house, the Idols house, what we have been saying about you all here? D: Well yeah, we have been watching Tutka there too. S: (expression!!! ;D 2:30) D&K: (laughter) S: Weeell… D: It’s like that every once in a while when you go to the upstairs kitchen, we have this house laptop there, and then… S: Yes? D: …you can always hear the laughter of you two there and then it hits, “Oh, someone’s watching Tutka”. S: Oh my god… Weeelll, at least luckily no-one can get this far if… there’s a bit of distance in between, if someone thinks about coming … (dives under the table) If there’s a bone to pick with us… D: (laughs) K: Thanks a lot, Sauli - because… S: Just kidding… K: … I have to go… S: …We always try to be really positive and we really don’t put anyone down that much… K: Yes, that’s what I was saying here… sort of like justifying – like if we really even need to justify our words that much, but exactly that, we are just being honest… S: Yes, we are. K: … Isn’t that kinda good, after all? D: Yes (gives a thumbs-up) S: Right, right. K: Because… Katri tells about her Idols interview, Sauli asks about what it’s like in the Idols house and Didi tells about that. They talk about the upcoming duets, and the heart sign Sauli shows at 5:48 is related to this. Didi and Torsten will sing a love song (Falling Slowly) and Katri rants since she can’t stand that particular hand sign because one of the VoF contestants is using it all the time and Katri is just totally fed up with it. They talk about how showing a particular hand sign especially in photos easily becomes a habit, as is also the case with facial expressions in photos.
7.48 S: Tell us a bit about what’s been the strangest experience for you that’s happened while you’ve been in the Idols. D: (tells about a day when the contestants were divided into groups and Didi’s group was taken into a circus school.) *.*.* (Sauli is tinkering with his headset for a while…) 9.13 S: I was going to say that I’ve been in the circus (school), I can come and teach you a bit, Didi. D: Yes! Great. K: Omg, wonderful. D: But I don’t know how to do any of those hula hoop things and such. S: Aww, you know, I’ve been twirling those too, so I’ll come and teach you. K: Sauli knows those things so… S: I have to say, I’ve been, when I was little I’ve been… I think I must have been… less than 10 years old when I won a competition in hula hooping. D: Wow. K: Well that was really important information to tell now at this point! (laughs) S: I hooped for two hours. D: 2 hours? S: 2 hours. K: What? Now I don’t believe you. I don’t believe. Don’t believe you. S: Believe it or not. K: Don’t believe you. S: I can show you! K: I don’t believe you! S: … I’ll hoop for a week or so if I just get some food every once in a while. K: Don’t believe you! (laughter) K: You’re going to be hungry while doing it… They continue taking about Didi’s experiences in idols. *.*.* 17.23 (Talking about performances and Katri’s famous proverbs :D) K:… how do you say it… training makes perfect… What did I say to you today…? D: … That they separate the wheat from the sheet! (chaff in Finnish is akana and Katri had said lakana = sheet) (laughter) S: Katri! I mean… Katri is so famous for these. D: Yeah, she told me. K: Oh dear God! (laughs) S: My favorite on is the one about crying… I mean frying for the moon. (laughter) K: These are always so awful, I so can’t stand this… S: Yeah K: But well, yeah… S: We’ve been talking about this, Katri! (shakes his finger) They continue talking about Idols 18.42 (Torsten sang IIHY in Idols) S: Last time Torsten sang a song that sounded kinda familiar… D: (laughs) K: What did you think of it? S: What? K: What did you think of it? S: Umm, well… I really don’t know… I mean, umm… K: (laughs) S: I was a bit… It was a bit… It woke up sort of kinda mixed feelings (laughs) K: I mean, really, I said - I even wrote in my blog that I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry because at least he was in it at full… S: Yes, he was. I think the performance and all that energy were just great there.. K: It was somehow so… really, so funny… all that eyeliner and everything else, somehow he had pulled himself all… D: Torsten has never before worn make-up, but he agreed to put on some for that. And leather pants! S: Yes, yes. But that all fit in to the performance! They continue talking about Idols and Voice of Finland to the end.

K: Hiii! OMG what are you doing? S: Hi there! (leans towards the screen and makes funny expressions). I came and attacked here K: Yes, really! So, we had Didi as our guest here last time. S: Yes, yes, it was so great to have Didi here as our guest. K: Yes, it was. Our warm regards to Didi, again! S: Really, that was such a great refreshment here. We need to have more guests. K: Yes, we do! S: I was thinking about who I should bring here as our next guest. K: Yeah, yeah, you do have a lot of Finns there now, so try to get one of those. S: I’ll try to get someone… maybe if I could get… well, I do have some good ideas here… we’ll see. K: So do I. Let’s not tell about those ideas yet. Surprise guest is always… S: Let’s not. I’ll surprise you too, in the same way you surprised me, yeah. K: Yes, exactly. I promise. S: Agreed. I was going to say that it’s 1.44 am here so once again Sauli is here with quite tired eyes but never mind, let’s continue. K: You can’t blame me this time. S: No, I can’t. I can say that this is totally Sauli’s own problem. (They continue talking about Idols). *.*.* 14:12 K: But hey, another thing - Desperate Housewives! I can’t take this, Mike died and yesterday they had the funeral, this is such a catastrophe… I’m so… (expression) S: What funeral? K: Mike’s funeral, Susan’s husband. In Desperate Housewives. S. Okay, I haven’t watched that at all now. K: Show some empathy! S: Oh my, oh dear… (pretends empathy) K: (laughs) Thank you. (pretends to be sniffing) Thank you. S: (sad expression) Let’s have a three second silence, starting now. K: Yes. (They are quiet for about three seconds) S: Okay, and then we move on to Voice of Finland… (They continue talking about VoF) *.*.* 24.10 K: Now I’ll go and mourn over Mike. S: Okay, you do that. K: Mmmm S: Hey, thank you all. K: Thank you! (waves) Okay… S: Thank you for baring with these ramblings of us two nutcases until the end here. K: Exactly, to listen for 25 minutes, yeah… okay. S: Right. In total we’ve been talking here for an hour and 10 minutes already, so… it’s 2.07 am so maybe Sauli should now go to bed. K: Yes! S: Good, bye! K: Bye!

(Both showing their coffee/tea mugs) S: Okay!, Oh, you have… K: Hi! S: Hi there! We are here showing right away our… look, I’ve even brought this kind of a Moomin mug here… K: Lovely… you know, I’m a little bit jealous here right now. S: This has some… You know, my mom gave this one to me, I have a couple of these Moomin mugs here. Mom has even asked if the mugs have been in use here, so here Mom - greetings to you and yes, the Moomin mugs are in use. K: Oh, that is so cute… Look I have my favorite here… S: Okay, Winnie the Pooh. K: I even had a Winnie the Pooh balloon on May Day. S: I remembered the name was Puglet but it is Piglet. (on the mug both Pooh and Piglet) (laughter) S: Pooh and Puglet… K: Hey, but I would have probably said something like that too. I never remember those other ones correctly. I mean, it’s a bit of the same as with those proverbs, that I have with these cartoon characters, I never get them right… (laughs) S: Yeah, yeah. Let’s just not get into those then either. K: I mean, oh my God… you really should have heard my proverbs again today… there were, like… there were like three or four ones which went so totally wrong, tupsy-torvy… (she doesn’t even get the ”topsy-turvy” right LOL ) S: Somehow it’s so cool that even though you do realize that you just can’t use them correctly but you still just keep on trying to throw them out. K: They just keep on coming! I don’t even have time to think that “that’s a proverb” when I just say something and then I realize that oh yeah, I was trying to quote a proverb and it just went like a… S: Yeah, yeah. But just think about it, sometimes when I’m saying something here in English it just goes soooo wrong, and I’m sure I’m mixing some words up and… whoah. K: The most important thing is that you get understood. At least I… S: That’s the most important thing, yes. K: (points to Pooh on her mug) I had this kind of a balloon on May Day, a real proper one, you know, that has helium inside, or whatever it is, it… S: Yeah, yeah. K: … stays up in the air. S: Yeah, a helium balloon. K: Yeah, then it was… when I’d had it for a day it had all emptied… (sad face) S: It had? K: There was a hole in it… But then I got also a Moomin troll (balloon)… I had a Moomin… Hey! There is a connection! S: You did? Moomin? K: Yes. I had a Moomin. S: Yes! I remember when I had those helium balloons when I was a little kid, and then always after May Day I emptied those so that I inhaled the helium so that my voice became all squeaky. (laughs) K: Oh… yeah. Mom’s little darling… bad boy. S: I don’t know if it can be… it might be dangerous. Don’t do it. (laughs). That probably why I’ve become this crazy, because I’ve been inhaling helium on every May Day during my whole childhood. K: True. So true. Even now you sound a little bit like you’d done that again. S: Let’s just say that I’m a bit hoarse now after the May Day. K: So what have you been doing there on May Day? S: I’ll tell you more about my May Day parties in my blog, so… I won’t talk about them here now because I don’t want to tell everything twice. K: Well no, but can you at least tell us where you were? You can tell about them then more in detail… S: I was in Anaheim celebrating May Day, and then I was in Bel Air at a party at the consulate and… K: Yesss! S: … and, well… K: They always have good parties there. (the consulate) S: They have good parties. K: For sure. S: And I saw a lot of Finns and so, and it’s a wonderful place. But, well… I have a couple of photos from there and I’m going to put them on my own blog. K: Yes, yes, great! S: Yes K: Hey, well we were in Helsinki on May Day, we had such a lovely sunshiny day but the wind was absolutely shocking, the wind was blowing from the sea… that song, how does it go… (thinks) No, I mean, winds from the open sea… (laughs - she still doesn’t get her quotes right The song she probably means actually has lyrics “wind blowing through the streets”) S: Oh boy! Winds from the open sea… K: I have also told you that I don’t know the lyrics of the songs. S: Yes. K: So I’m a really ”credible” person to analyze Idols, like “umm, how does that song go now.” (laughter) K: I mean, I must be the worst… we were even singing now, we were actually singing karaoke… and I really do not know any lyrics of any songs… S: What did you sing? K: Wait, wait, wait… Jäätelökesä (Note: This is an old and very popular Finnish pop song sung by Maarit Hurmerinta. The name could be translated as Ice cream summer.) S: Jäätelökesä? Okay. K: And I didn’t know one bit of it, luckily a friend of mine sang with me because I only knew the chorus. And I just can’t… and if I happen to know something, it’s only the chorus – nothing else. S: Well don’t you usually have the lyrics on that screen in karaoke…? K: Yeah, but you should also know the melody as well… (laughs) Wish I just could have started right from the chorus part… Oh my God, I mean, really… S: Oh dear… K: Now I’ve lost all my credibility for trying to analyze those Idols guys. Never mind… I mean, I really can’t sing, I’m the worst in the world – and I don’t know the lyrics of the songs. S: So am I. I can tell you that I must be the worst singer in the world, too. I can’t stay in tune, none whatsoever. K: No, I mean… oh S: Yes. K: I don’t wish anyone to hear me singing. S: Yeah, no. K: Okay, shall we now talk about the Idols? They continue talking about the Finnish Idols. Didi who was a guest at Tutka two weeks ago made it to the finale and both Katri and Sauli are very happy about that. They spend the rest of the Tutka talking about TV shows.

K: (starts recording) Okay now now now… S: (coughing) Omg, now we got this started with a horrible cough K: Hiiiiiihhhhh (shows her scarf) S: Katri, what are you wearing? K: (chuckles) S: (laughs at Katri) K: I’m such a Finn-fan really, this is actually really awful... Sauli, guess what… S: Have you gone totally mad with ice hockey? (Note: The Ice Hockey World Championships 2012 are right now going on in Helsinki and Stockholm/Sweden) K: … I’m such a Finn-fan! I mean, I really don’t… Okay, I’ve been boycotting the championships because I’m so annoyed by the 150 euro tickets and Kummola (Note: Kalervo Kummola – President of the Finnish Ice Hockey Association) and all so much, I don’t want to shout that much here now because if I really start blasting out it would be totally “aaaaarrrrgh”. Okay, but see - the beauty of the whole thing now is that you can be a big fan of the hockey everywhere else now but not going to the actual games. So you see, I have bought… S: So you’re boycotting these games by not going to the Arena to watch them? K: Yes, exactly – exactly. But then again, I’ve bought and put some money into these… HockeyBird (beanie)…lovely, this mascot in general is so cute (shows the beanie), can you see it? Look… this. S: Omg… Oh yeah, it’s one of those AngryBirds… K: Yes, AngryBirds, they’ve been sponsoring this now, you see, and then… By the way, once again I look like that Mauno Ahonen with this (taps on her headset), this… S: Exactly, yeah – a touch of Mauno Ahonen again. K: Antero Mertaranta number two (Note: He is well known very enthusiastic Finnish sportscaster, for many ice hockey watchers the one and only and the best for the job. But here we guess Katri is more referring to just her look :D.) S: Yeah. Have you worn those things this whole week? K: (nods) All the time, every place. (laughter) K: Have to say though, that people are taking a second look at me here at work…”Yeah, right,.. Katri’s again wearing a bit of HockeyBird…” But I mean… S: HockeyBird… K: …you have to, for God’s sake… we have the championships here in Finland, for three weeks and no-one even knows that we have them here if you look around when you’re walking in the city centre… it’s actually horrible! S: Is it so quiet there, then? K: There’s no-one here anywhere! You’ll gotta come and start a bit of a hullabaloo here! S: (laughs) K: Really, the only place where there’s a some sort of a chaos at the moment is probably outside the Hartwall Areena (the hockey arena). And do you know what I did today? S: Well? K: I watched our Anaheim… (laughs) S: Oh, the Tutka Roadshow episode? (laughs) Tutka Roadshow at Anaheim K: I even posted that on our Facebook, because I think it’s so good! Because it’s exactly like this, everyone with hockey fever right now. I mean, I really… S: But also there we put much more effort into those… like, merchandise - we had those giant mittens… K: High five! S: … we really didn’t care that much about the game… K: That really was so awful… I really don’t… and that’s where I even said that I don’t even watch this… we were just sleeping there! S: Exactly. K: And now when I’m just gushing here, it is a bit like having double standards, because first I was like, “I know nothing about hockey…”. And now I’m here, like, “Finland! Finland!” S: But I remember that I’ve always watched those games in Finland when Finland has been playing in the championships. K: Yes S: They’re probably the only ones that are interesting enough for us in ice hockey. K: (laughs) Exactly! I mean, that’s the beauty of it… S: I’ve never owned any of that merchandise stuff or so… K: Okay, me neither, before this. I have one Finland-shirt but it’s not a hockey shirt. I had to buy a pink one… (They continue talking a bit more about ice hockey.) *.*.* 4:16 K: Well now, let’s move on to your background now because you have such a.. When Sauli logged on… S: I’m here sort of like in the set of the Viidakon tähtöset (laughs) (Note: The name of the program is “The Starlets of the Jungle” in English. In the program there are two groups of women who have been sent to “jungle” to compete against each other, teams are named Typhoon and The Tigers of the Jungle. The series was filmed in Thailand. One of the tv-programmes Tutka’s been following.) K: … yeah, birds were just singing there… S: Yes K: … when you logged on. S: Yes, they were. K: Absolutely great! S: Yeah. K: So you’ve moved to Thailand now, no, I mean Malaysia, where… S: I’ve moved to Thailand, yeah - for a little competition. I’m just about to put on my wig and to join the line with the Starlets. Don’t know yet whether I’m going to join the Typhoon or the Tigers of the Jungle. (laughs) K: Surely you will have on one of those tight tops and then… S: Yes, yes, I do. And warpaint too, yes. K: Right, right. (They continue talking about the Viidakon Tähtöset) *.*.* 5.20 K: Hey, show us that view because it’s so nice… S: (turns the camera) This is just so… you know, the sun is shining and… K: I can’t take it… S: (turns the camera back) K: I so can’t take this… well, okay - you don’t have the WCH-fever there! S: Once again it’s so that it’s evening for Katri and I get to be here in the morning. No need to stay up until midnight again! K: (laughs) True! Hey okay, sorry I got so carried away with those championships, but tell us now what’s going on in there? S: Here? K: Yes! Is the American Idol there at the hot final stages? They have the finale coming up there. S: Yeah, but I don’t… I missed it last time but yeah, they have only three contestants left now… yes. And the finale is in two weeks time. K: Okay. Has it been this year… S: Don’t ask me that much about the names but they have two there now that I know for sure that they will be in the finale but otherwise I have no idea about the names. K: (laughs) S: … Yeeaahh, so this is how well Sauli is following the Idols here. K: Nothing ever changes. S: Yeah. But well, I do remember them when I’m watching the show. K: Yeah, yes. S: … but I can’t, the names are just swept away from my mind. K: Hey, is it as good this year as it was last year? Because last year… S: Yes, it’s really… K: Oh? S: The level is much higher this year than it was last year. K: Why haven’t I watched it? That really annoys me now… S: I’ll be going there next week, to the studio, so I can tell more about it after that. K: Great! You will tell us then if Jennifer Lopez’s bottom’s grown bigger, I mean in real life… S: (laughs) Okay, I’ll tell you… K: You’ll have to say ”Yes!” then, even if it hasn’t! Because we want to hear that it has… well it really can’t… S: Yes. K: … be that big live. S: I’ll try to get very close to JLo for that (laughs) (They continue talking about the Voice and the American Idol, and then the Finnish Idols. Didi, who was a guest in Tutka earlier, won the Finnish Idols finale and both Katri and Sauli are very happy about that – the conversation about the best/debest at around 9:00 mins is related to this. After that they continue talking about other TV-programs.) *.*.* 15:18 K: Hey, but if we still continue following the Idols a bit, the American Idol for next week. We can watch that but then we are starting to come to an end with these Tutkas for now since the summer is coming and we soon won’t have much to talk about (laughs). But we’ll keep on making Tutkas for a couple of more weeks still. S: We’ll still make Tutkas for a week or two or so, but now we have to tell you viewers not to expect the next Tutka right in the beginning of the week because Idols is on Wednesday so we could maybe have a Finnish time Thursday Tutka then. K: Hey, that’s true. S: Yeah. (More talk about TV-programs.) *.*.* 19:47 K: Hey yeah, towards the end of this now, we can reveal that at some stage we will have a surprise for you, but we can’t yet tell what it is. S: This is a nice revelation for you – ”We have a surprise – but we’re not telling it to you yet.” We will reveal it soon. K: We will tell it to you soon. Hey now Sauli, the thing is that there’s the Finland – Switzerland game on right now… was it Switzerland…? (laughs) S: (unclear) K: … I’m such a hardcore fan! Yes-yes, for me being the Finn-fan is the most important thing, I don’t care about who they are playing against! So, the game is on and the third period is starting, so now I have to go, especially since even the lights are going off here (in the office) already. S: You go, just go. I’m going.. I'm going jogging. K: Oh, wonderful! S: Oh my… yes. K: Great. But hey, wonderful… hey, next week we’ll talk about the American Idol and about these TV programs and then we’ll probably tell you about the surprise too. S: We’ll tell you then. K: Yes, good! S: Yes, good. Okay, bye everybody! K: (laughs) A lovely weekend to everybody! Bye bye bye! K: Bye bye bye!

S: (waves and giggles) S: (waves) Go, Finland! Yeee! S: Go, Finland! yes yes! (shows the front page of a tabloid, Finland beat USA in Ice Hockey World Championships) S: I haven’t even watched the whole thing, I mean any of the games Finland has played… so… S: Sauli, sssssh, you can’t say that because this is the WorldChampionships-Tutka! S: Katri made me flail here! S: (laughs) S: She called me before Tutka saying, ”put something blue on, we’re making a WorldChampionships-Tutka, Championships-Tutka”. I was like, what on earth is WorldChampionships-Tutka…? “Finland won!” Well, here I am all in blue, look. Even my pants are blue. (shows his leg) S: Oh! Oh oh oh! Hey, by the way I actually have… S: Okay, oh dear! S: (shows her leg) S: Well, all I saw was a brown boot but I’m sure… S: (laughs) Well hey, look now, I mean I have a new favorite. Jesse Joensuu (Note: a Finnish Ice hockey player). I mean really, he’s like the daydream of all women! I mean OMG! S: (laughs) He is? S: Oh, oh boy, he is even handsome – and made two goals, you so can’t not like him! Oh my god! S: What’s his name? Jesse… S: Jesse Joensuu S: Jesse… S: Just awful. Once again this just tells something about my ice hockey interest… When he scored the first goal I was like ”Who is Jesse Joensuu…?” Even at that point of the games I didn’t know who is Jesse Joensuu! Now I do! Now I know! S: (shakes his head to Katri’s babbling): But it was the Finland – USA game, right? S: Yes! Oh yes! Hey, hey… we won! 3 - 2. S: Yes. I don’t dare to say here that I’m a Finn. (They continue talking about ice hockey). 6:18 S: Hey, I was today at the audience of a kind of a competition too. S: You were? S: I was at the semi-finals of the American Idol. S: Okay… S: Or is it ”semifinal”…? When the next one is the finale, then it IS the semifinal. There were three contestants there and now one was dropped out so there are only two left and the finale is next week. K: Well so, I was thinking that we could talk about that next. I mean, it’s pretty cool that you were there again. S: Yeah, again! They had Steven and JLO and Randy there again K: Was Jennifer’s bottom as big as last time? S: Umm… not that big… but I didn’t really watch that bottom so much… but… (laughs) Even though I promised you! K: (laughs) S: But I have to say that she does look so beautiful! K: Yes. S: I mean, I was just watching one old Jennifer Lopez movie… well, not “old” but from the beginning of 2000’s... and it’s amazing that she still, after some 10 - 12 years… after 12 years she still looks the same! K: That’s so true. S: It’s unbelievable… I mean, she really is so beautiful. K: She is, indeed. Did they still have those hairdressers running around her every five minutes? S: Well, that’s what I was looking at, I was paying attention to that - I was thinking like, if they were going to come out running again there… but there wasn’t such a buzz. There was sort of hustle and bustle every time at commercial breaks and so, but there not that many hairdressers buzzing around the judges. But they had the actual show on yesterday, Wednesday - and today they had this elimination. K: Right. S: But even this elimination thing took time, it was about for an hour, so we sat there in the studio for about an hour and a half altogether, so this really was a proper spectacle. K: So, dare you say who was dropped? S: Well, I was just thinking that how it is in Finland, are people watching this… K: Yeah, maybe you shouldn’t say… but tell us about them! There are three left at this stage. S: Let’s say that there in the finale there will be… No, there were three and one was dropped, so there are two left now. K: Yeah, yeah, but it… S: My number one favorite is in the finale. How about if I tell you who is my favorite… K: Yes, tell us! S: So my favorite is called Jessica. She’s… K: Oh, her! Jessica Sanchez or how was it… yes. S: Yes, she’s my favorite and she made it to the finale. But then there are also the two boys, one of them made it to the finale also. K: So who are there left at this stage among the three best ones, those boys? S: There’s Jessica and then there’s Phillip and then that Joshua. K: Joshua will absolutely be in the finale, absolutely! S: Not telling you! K: Because I think that Phillip is wonderful and he’s cute and somehow, in every way… he reminds me a bit of that Scott from last year. Only he’s a lot more handsome and lovely. S: Yeah, that he is, but about Phillip, you could see there in the audience that he has an amazing fan base. K: Oh? Phillip has? S: Yes, or he is like a dream guy for those teenage girls. K: Yes, he’s so cute. S: Yeah, but for me it’s a little bit that somehow his style isn’t quite hitting me… umm…. K: Yes! And I at least, in my opinion… S: Well, now I basically revealed who was dropped out here… It’s a shame, I would have wanted him to get in there as well. K: Which one you wanted there? S: Okay, I’m telling now this to everybody… K: Tell us. S: So Joshua was dropped out. Otherwise this would have gotten too mysterious and confusing. K: Ohhh… S: And I was so disappointed. But it was so lovely that when he performed after he was dropped he gave such a great performance, and then he brought his mom to the stage and Jennifer cried and he was hugging there Jennifer for who knows how long. They must have been hugging for at least 5 to 10 minutes after the show ended, Joshua and Jennifer. Apparently they must be good friends. I think that Jennifer was, or that Joshua was apparently Jennifer’s favorite because she was, Jennifer was all down and dreary when he was dropped. K: Oh no… S: And, and then, then of course my siippa was there performing too, and he sang really well. Thank you! And then Elvis Presley’s daughter, this… blackout here now … K: Pris… No, what’s her name, this Lisa… no… S: Lisa! K: Lisa S: Yes. K: Oh, she was performing there…? S: Well, yeah, like sort of… Which means… Oh hey, I’m now totally frozen here, horrible. Looks awful, geezh! K: Oh yes you are. I’ve been watching that for quite a while now but I just didn’t want to stop you because you’ve been having such a verbal diarrhea attack. But hold on, let’s try to get you back on now. Okay, now you’re moving again! (laughs when Sauli’s moving back and forth on the screen, testing). Yes, you’re moving1 Okay, so what? Oh, that Lisa was there performing. S: Well, yeah. They advertised it like that she would be there performing and all, but actually they had shot that beforehand in the studio, or I guess on that same stage, or something. So basically when people are watching it on TV, they… how am I going to explain this now… I mean, people don’t realize that it has been shot beforehand. They just told us that this has been shot beforehand but on the TV it will look like it’s coming out live. They were even shooting the audience and all. But she really wasn’t there performing, and that was a kind of disappointment. K: Well, so when she had really been performing there? S: I don’t know. So that’s one way to cheat people by saying that it’s a live broadcast and you supposedly have someone performing there and then it’s been shot beforehand. K: Oh geezh! Didn’t she for some reason not want to perform in live broadcast or something? S: I don’t know, maybe she couldn’t make it or something, but in my opinion it’s a bit stupid too - people are buying tickets to get there and they are looking up who is going to perform and then you buy an expensive ticket or you win it or get it from somewhere, and then that performer even isn’t there. K: That is just so crazy! Oh jeezh! S: Yeah K: But oh, I so would have wanted to hear Adam perform there! It would have been so cool! S: Yeah. He sang really well. K: Oh… S: But I guess, well I don’t know how long is the delay before they show it in Finland..? K: It will come out… it could be next week here. I’d think so. S: Okay. You’ll see it then! It’s so worth watching! It really was a good show overall, I mean that whole hour long spectacle. K: Awesome! Well hey, but yeah… I’m still getting back to that Joshua a bit now that there’s something in his persona that I kind of didn’t like that much. I liked his singing voice, it was amazing. But somehow as a person he seems… They were gushing over him like crazy here last week, I mean in the episode here in Finland. We are something like a fortnight behind here with the episodes, or at least a week. They were gushing over him just like crazy! Like, he’s the best one, the best performer of all times… There was some commenting even at my place, like, “oh yeah, just wonder how the old ones feel now about all the gushing that this now is the best of all times.”… S: Yeah, true. K: There’s been ten or eleven seasons. I think it’s really like, it’s always like, ”Oh I see, you’re like dissing those other ones, the old ones, then.” S: Yes, right. K: You know, like… (they talk over each other) S: But then again, usually their singing styles are praised, like they are so different all of them… K: That’s true. S: And I think you can’t compare them at all to the others. K: No, you can’t. S: First of all, now when you think about Joshua, then this Phillip and Jessica, they are all… like, totally different. K: That’s right. S: They all have their own strengths and they are all different persons. But then I think that Jessica is just so lovely because she is, her voice is so cool and when she… then she’s like, she is really like, outgoing and charming and talkative and quick-witted and you really can see that she is passionate about this whole thing, that she really would like to do it for the rest of her life. K: That’s true. And then she’s 16! S: Yeah, she’s 16. K: I can’t understand how every year they have some really young people there… and then the best of those are almost always something like 16. It’s just unbelievable! It was the same thing last year. S: Right. K: But who was that… Colleen or Lauren or who was it, help me… Oh god, I’ve been watching this so little now, I mean the fourth one who apparently right now is dropping out next…(Note: …episode in Finland, last Friday) S: Hollie…, Hollie K: Hollie, yes. See, I mix her up with the last season’s Lauren. Hollie, yes. Everyone was praising her just so much last time. S: Yeah. K: So, it’s kinda funny that she’s now been dropped out from there, too. S: She’s been dropped out, yes, But she’s a nice girl and all but she didn’t have that much anything else to give except her singing voice. But somehow, I’m guessing that Phillip will win this because he’s so every teenage girl’s… K: Yeah. S: … girls’ and women’s dream boy. And then, guys like that always make it - happy and smiling heartbreakers K: Exactly, exactly. S: Yes, yeah. K: You said it. Because he’s just like that Scottie, Scotty, Scott… Scott? What ever… S: Yes. K: … he was, the one last year anyway. He’s exactly like him. And then when I… has anyone heard anything of him? Have you ever heard any songs by him anywhere? (Note: There isn’t much country-music in Finland.) S: No, I haven’t, I was actually thinking about it today, and actually we were thinking about it here today, or I was thinking hard for a long time like, “Who the hell won the American Idol last year?” It took me… K: Exactly! S: … a while. I recalled that Lauren, but then I didn’t remember, who… even though I was even watching that finale live there last year! K: Yes, right! S: So I couldn’t even remember that guy. K: Yes, it’s funny. S: But one thing I’m happy about is that this year all those country singers got dropped out pretty quickly, so that… K: Yeah. S: Even though that must be the most common, the most popular music in the US… K: It is. S: … that country music. K: But yes, it’s good that these aren’t any country types but there’s a lof of same now, the last year’s winner has a lot of similarities with Phillip. Because he’s exactly that kind of a happy person who isn’t annoying anyone, sort of pleases everybody and then… S: In a way somehow a bit shy, mysterious but still… K: Exactly. S: … a twinkle in the eye and like… K: Yes, yes, yes. He’s cute. Well, okay… I don’t believe that anyone of these three will turn into a big star in the long run, it does require something else than… S: I believe that Jessica will become something great. K: Yes, her maybe. She has personality. There’s a little something special in her. In everything in her habitus, in everything, she’s a bit from a foreign origin and all. S: Yes, yeah. K: She’s got quite a bit a kind of interesting things. Yeah well, it’s interesting. Hey, still a question about that, was it exactly the same system as last time? The same place, similar studio and all. (Note: meaning AI studio) S: Yes, it was, yeah. It looked just the same. Or it hadn’t been changed in any way. Probably the stage setting has changed some way but I can’t even remember the one they had last year. K: Okay. S: But somehow it’s funny because I remember how I was there last year with you, and we were thinking ”damn, this looks really really small.” And now that I’ve kept in mind all this time that the place is really, really small - then now it again looked bigger somehow. K: Yeah, since the expectations weren’t quite like the ones we had last time when we went there and thought that it would be quite big. S: Right. But yes, the finale is next week at the Nokia Theatre in Downtown and that place is really insane, it’s so huge in size. K: Oh? Was it there the last time too? The finale? S: Sorry? K: Was it there the last time too, the finale? S: Yes, it was there the last time too. So it’s held in a different venue. That’s the way it’s in Finland too, wasn’t the finale in Helsinki Ice Hall and… K: Yes, it was. And the Ice Hall really was a good venue. It was really nice, it was all full now. Much more spectators than in those hockey games now. But hey, now we’re starting to get excited for Finland’s game tomorrow. S: I, I… yeah yeah. (smiles) K: You have to! I’ll make you! S: Have to get excited, have to get excited! K: Then we’ll tell you - we promised that we would tell you a surprise in this Tutka but we’ll have to wait for the next time before we can tell you. We are very sorry, but we’ll keep you in suspension for a bit longer now! (laughs) S: One more time! K: Exactly! Hey, a wonderful weekend and a hockey-filled Saturday… and Sunday! (laughs) S: Well, that kind, yeah! Bye! K: Okay, bye-bye!

K: Hiii… S: Heyyy!!! (laughter) K: And Tuomas says again… (Tuomas is the cameraman) S: Shall we have a little kippis (cheers) now that we can… K: Ayayay! Kippis! So once again this is so, this is sooo Tutka… I feel like you haven’t been away for once second because Tuomas just said again ”Okay, now it’s taping again...” S: Yeah, yeah, I mean, I have… K: … and once again we haven’t planned a thing! S: Somehow I have… I mean, I arrived to Finland yesterday and I feel like I’ve been here yesterday… oh what did I just now say? (laughter) K: You mean ”all the time”. (laughs) S: All the time… all the time. K: Well hey, really: I’ve been taping here - over there in about 20 meters away – every week with you, so you’ve been here at least in spirit. S: Yeah yeah and I’ve been just a few kilometers away on the other side… K: Yeah sure, just a couple of kilometers away. I’m really ann… S: This is a kind of funny that there is no… I mean… that I don’t… I thought I would feel more, like, you know… K: Yeah, like, ”OMG, I’m here!” S: … like “OMG”! “I’m nervous!” And so on… but here isn’t… the cafe… the name of the cafe has changed… and the weather is gorgeous! K: And we still got free coffees, hey! S: Yes. K: But look, we’re drinking out of glasses, no more those Wayne’s fine blue mugs. S: Exactly. K: But one thing has changed… and it really annoys me! Look how tanned this guy is! I mean, really! S: Hey, you’re tanned, too! K: Well… (twists their arms together) Compare these! Which one is more tanned?? “Hey, you’re tanned, too.” “Just a little bit…” S: I think Katri just put on some bronzer, kind of all the way down to her toes. (laughter) S: I was asking her that why on earth you are putting that on your legs, isn’t it meant for your face? (laughter) S: Katri saw my legs, and she became jealous because they were so tanned that she really started applying that bronzer to her legs! K: (laughs) And this is a true story! Sauli isn’t really even making this up… S: Hoh hoh. K: Well okay, maybe there is an actual reason for it, because we just might have been taking some photos… for a thing. Maybe we can tell you now what we… what’s the surprise we’ve been keeping from you. So, sometime earlier this year we told you that we were planning a sort of a sequel to the Tutka Roadshow, so now we ARE going to make a sequel to the Tutka Roadshow. S: Yeah, so we are going to tape it here in Finland. Let’s say that it’s going to be sort of… maybe not as long a Tutka Roadshow as the one we made there abroad last time, but well - we have some nice cities and places here in Finland which we are going to visit. K: And nice guests. S: Yes. So… K: (claps) S: We’re going to make, let’s say,… (claps) something like 7 – 10 episodes.. K: Something like that. S: … is what we’ve been planning… K: Yeah S: … on making. K: And of course since we needed more challenges after the last one… (laughter) K: … because last time everything went just so perfectly (note: meaning the opposite here, not perfectly at all)… so we’re even taping them by ourselves! So there’s going to be just the two of us! S: A bit like in the Iholla-program… (In the Finnish TV series “Iholla” the people participating are filming themselves and their daily life.) K: Yes! That’s right. S: Yeah. K: We’ll test how it turns out. So you people can just tell us off if it goes totally down the hill… Or how do you say that…? S: That was just okay. K: But anyway, surely… let’s hope that we can make something of it… They continue talking about the Iholla program. *.*.* 4.42 S: I keep watching over there all the time since people are playing football and all there… K: (laughs) S:… they are gamboling there on the grass. K: It’s so green and lovely and sunny here! S: I think it was so wonderful, it was kind of the most wonderful thing in the world to come back to Finland from LA, and be able to just walk around on the streets without that awful traffic. Because in LA no-one’s walking anywhere, and here people are lying on the grass and all… K: Right. S: It’s just like… there aren’t any… there are not that kind of parks where people could hang around or… K: Yeah, yeah. That’s true. S: And I think it’s so wonderful, especially as the sky is so clear blue here and summer has arrived and there are leaves on the trees… K: Yeah. S: … since the trip here last time was so gloomy! K: (laughs) S: I mean, it was so gloomy and dark that I’m not at all surprised that I woke up there at the Kisahalli (the police lock-up) (laughter) S: Yeah… K: I mean, I was there in Stockholm in Estelle’s (Sweden’s little baby princess) christening party – oh jeezh how these stories are jumping around now again – and when I came back from the airport I realized that like for the first time in a long time it felt nice to come back to Helsinki from the airport. Because so often when I’m at the airport coming back I have a feeling like, “damnit, I so would have wanted to stay” – regardless of wherever I’d been. Because it’s always so dark and gray and always something sort of… But now! Spring, and like this - the beginning of the summer is the best time in the world, the trees are soooo green, you never see them this green like they are now after maybe the next three weeks. S: Yes, right. This is exactly.. In my opinion, in Finland the beginning of the summer is the most wonderful time of all. K: It is so… all the scents! S: Oh my… K: And this year, these colorful clothes, they really lift your spirits, you know. S: Yes, yeah. K: Oh – did you stop this again? (asks Tuomas) (laughter) S: We were given... hey, we were given 10 minutes for Tutka. K: 10 minutes’ deadline… S: It’s been six months since we’ve been face to face together here behind this desk the last time taping this, so I don’t think that is quite enough… (laughs) K: We’ll manage just fine… S: Yeah… K: Hey, but now I could tell you a bit about Estelle’s christening (They continue talking about the christening Party. Katri was in Stockholm following the event and wrote for her paper about it.)
*.*.* 9.36 (the screen picture turns around) K: This didn’t just break off a minute ago… S: No, no… K: … not at all. We just try to continue here as if nothing happened… S: At the same position… (frozes) K: Exactly! ”Where were you?” S: Stopping for a moment And: “We’re rolling.” K: So well, Sauli - Wat brings juu bai? (Katri says this with a really bad fake accent – What brings you by.) S: Well, now on Friday there is the culmination of the Fashion week of Yle Teema (Finnish TV channel) and I’m going to Voimala (name of the location) to host a fashion show. Which will be broadcasted live by Yle. K: Oh great! You’re turning into a TV host now! S: Yeah, yeah. Don’t ask too much yet, I just got here yesterday and I’m getting more information later today and tomorrow and so on. We still have some hard practices ahead of us, but I hope it goes well. You never know what I’ll come up with there though! K: But you’re a good fashion host because you always have… (feels Sauli’s scarf, forgets to finish her sentence because of the scarf…) this is really… this is so fine, this Sauli’s scarf, really… a leather scarf! I was admiring it, I think it’s so great. S: Well thank you! K: Yeah. S: This is nice too, this thing you’ve on (plays with the sleeve of Katri’s crocheted lace top), you must have crocheted this with your own little hands... K: Yeah, I crocheted it this morning. S: Crocheted, yeah. K: Tell you the truth, I don’t even know how to crochet. S: I do. K: (silent for a moment) I’m not talking to you. (turns her head away) S: (laughs) K: There are already so many reasons why I could stop talking to Sauli. S: I know how to knit, crochet and sew. K: And then he’s all brown and… all… Hey well, but yeah - anyway… S: Were these the most important things in life? K: (laughs) Yes, they were! S: Love, wealth and tanning. (note: In Finnish: Rakkaus, rikkaus ja rusketus/ruskettuminen.) K: Exactly! Well, but hey- I don’t know if we are going to make yet another Tutka here at some point… I don’t know what we would be talking about since Idols and all those other programs have finished. But… S: Let’s say that next week we are maybe making a Tutka and then… or this might be the last one or we might make one more next week. K: Yeah, we don’t know. S: Right. K: But we are going to start making that Roadshow here soon, and those will come out then at the end of the summer but not quite yet. But if you want you can send me messages to my Kyttääjä blog… Sauli is not going to write his blog (Hollywood blog) now from here either. S: Yeah, I was going to say about that - now while I’m here in Finland I will be continuing… I’m having a summer break with that Tutka… no, not Tutka but with the blog. So I will continue with it later, let’s say around the end of July or in August. K: Yes. So, well… S: But I’ll write about it in the blog too so that you’ll know that it’s on a break, in case people are not watching this they’ll find out it from the blog then. K: Yeah, even those who are not watching will see it there. S: Yeah, right. (laughter) K: So, well then – we got such great ideas from you in January, our ideas have maybe changed a bit from the beginning, and we really can’t travel around that much, so please don’t expect anything like, huge and large, because we are also having schedule problems. Because one of us is leaving again and then the other one is leaving too, and then we’re going here and there crisscrossing. So we can’t shoot it for a very long time, and that’s why we’ll be filming at least the things that are most precious to us, and also then some people too. S: Yes. K: But the ideas were absolutely wonderful, and we are definitely going to use some of them. S: And we are going to have some nice guests… K: Yes. S: … and I’m sure it’s going to be fun. K: Yes, absolutely. We are going to show you a little bit of Finland, or actually show it to all of us. We are also going to some places where we ourselves might not have been before, maybe. I don’t know. S: Yup K: Okay, but hey! So wonderful to have you back Sauli! S: Yes, it’s so nice to be back here again. K: And now I’m going to go and sun-bathe a bit so that next time I’ll be a little bit more tanned when I’m seeing Sauli here again. (laughs) S: Next week… K: Yeah hey, they’ve promised some lovely weather for us now! S: Okay! K: You arrived in perfect time here! It’s supposed to be +23 C during the weekend. S: So go on and lie down there in the sun now, what are you still standing here for! K: Well that’s what I’m saying! Gotta go already! Okay, it’s quarter past five already now so maybe I can’t do it anymore, but… S: The best time for sunbathing is already over. K: Yeah, maybe it’s so. But hey, see you! (waves) S: Until maybe next week! (laughs and waves) K: Maybe until next week! Okay, bye! S: Byebye!

S: (stretching) I’m stretching here… K: (giggles and claps) S: Yaaawn… K: Sauli!!! S: I’m stretching here… I have my morning exercise going on here… K: Yes, I can see that! S: You know, it’s been a while since I woke up this early! It’s… K: Well, it’s because I pressured you to put your Skype on in the morning at 11 o’clock! S: (laughs) K: Hey, it’s nine o’clock here! [evening] S: (fake whisper) Let’s not tell about that! K: (laughs) It’s nine o’clock… S: It can be like seven in the morning… yeah yeah yeah! K: (imitates Sauli, stretches) “It’s been a while since I woke up this early…” Yaaawn.. S: Somehow I was so sleepy and then I thought that no-oo, I have to wake up now and go shoot the Tutka. (takes a sip from his mug) K: Oh dear God with you…Hey, what’s that mug? Show me what’s that mug you have there! S: Hey… (turns the mug around) this is… Queen! K: Ohhhh! Wow! Oh jeez… You were in London… what was it like there? S: Yes, I was… it was absolutely great! K: Oh jeez… S: It was so neat! K: Nooo… Was there… S: I can say it was the best trip of my life, ever! K: No! Sauli and I haven’t talked after that since I’ve been on the road, too. S: No, we haven’t! This was somehow… Katri was there, like… Well, for sure at the start we again had some technical problems which took about five minutes… K: (laughs) S: … but we managed to get the Tutka running pretty quickly… and Katri said, “let’s not talk at all about how we’ve been but let’s just start recording right away”… This might end up being a pretty interesting Tutka! K: True! And hey… S: But you were in Italy? K: I can’t stand that mustache of yours! Do I have to grow one myself for the next time? S: Look, variety is the spice of life! I don’t know how much longer this will stay on my face, but, well… It might be so that next week I don’t have this mustache anymore. K: (laughs) It looks so funny… I just can’t take it… it makes me laugh so much! And you also have a new hairdo! You’re a totally new man over there! S: I changed it back to blond when I got back here. It’s really difficult to keep that dark hair since it’s not my real color. My real color is blond, and it grows so fast, and then that dark color doesn’t really stay in my hair and it turns all red and… no, no, it just wasn’t my thing. K: Yeah, I know that. You know, I have dark hair growing in here and I have to dye it blond since I don’t know how to be anything but blond since I’ve always been a blond. And now I have dark hair growing, somehow… S: I had to bleach… (voice disappears) … it didn’t go away on the first time. K: Oh damn. But it looks good! S: Yeah. And a good tip for you, if you’re bleaching your hair – you can buy coconut oil from the stores, I even saw that in Prisma (a Finnish market chain), you can cook with it but it also says in the package that you can use it for your hair too. Just put that in your hair, wait for about two hours with your hair wrapped in a towel… K: What…? Are you serious? It makes your hair blond? S: (sound disappearing) … after that! K: I can’t believe you! But guess what happened to me one time? S: … Just put that on your head. K: Omg! One time I… one time about ten years ago when I dyed my hair by myself it turned so green that after that I haven’t had the courage to dye it myself. And then I had to put so much lemon juice in my hair so that I would get rid of the color that after that my hair was just as dry as anything… S: No… K: Yes, yes… S: Lemon juice is a nightmare to hair! K: (laughs) I know!!! But if you want to get rid of that green or blue or whatever it was… S: Did you also go and lie in the sun with that lemon juice in your hair? K: Well, no I didn’t, but you can guess… it was just horrible! First that blue hair, or green, or whatever, and then that dry hair! I was totally… (laughter) K: It was just something so terrible! Omg! Let’s not think about that… S: It’s that acid in it that makes the hair sort of… K: True… S: The whole hair gets scorched. K: True. I don’t know where this camera is pointing now… By the way, I’m all by myself here, I got a bit scared now… the café is closed and I just got in here. I’ll show you… (moves the camera) can you see? Really, I just broke in here… S: You broke in? Oh, you’re there in the café! K: Yes! There’s no-one else here! S: Okay… K: They closed this place several hours ago already! S: … you’re a regular there, so… (sound is breaking) K: If some security guard comes and says that this place was closed already two hours ago, I can always say, like, “no, no, this is always open for me.” S: Yeah, yeah, you have a permission to sit there every day if you like. K: Hey, but… S: But hey, you’ve been also.. where have you been traveling now? We haven’t called or talked or anything here now… K: I was in Italy… can’t you tell since I’m almost as tanned as you are! S: Yes, you are - I saw that. You’re even more tanned than I am! K: (laughs) For once it’s this way! I’ve been so waiting for this since I was so annoyed when we were making the Roadshow and Sauli was so black [tanned]… And then I was there… (laughter) S: Hey, hey, this is a funny story… I remember… I got to Finland and we went to shoot those Tutka Roadshow promo photos there… K: (laughs) You told… S: … downstairs at Ilta-Sanomat, and when Katri saw me, she was all like, “oh no, you’re so tanned, I can’t take this, I can’t be in any photos with you!” Katri started putting bronzer on her ankles…! K: (laughs) I think you told about this in the Roadshow, too! S: … (sound breaking) puts make-up on her feet… but Katri put bronzer all over her and finally on her ankles… with a brush… K: Even now this is just like that, I had to put some on so I could show you that I’m more tanned! I’m powdering myself now all the time… (laughter) S: Hey, but oh boy we had fun doing the Roadshow! K: Yes, we did! Really, it was sooo cool! And seriously, I… I felt so bad because we couldn’t really live in the moment with it since we were both… you were in London and I was in Italy and Canada.. S: That’s true. K: But we both were reading the feedback and giggling, like “Well, I guess we did at least something right”. Because really, after we had finished all of them we found out that our voices… they were not recorded… S: Yeah, right! K: (laughs hysterically) S: And every time we even made sure, checked that button that, that some… some gauge was moving in there, so that the sound track is okay… K: Yeah, and even from that – what is that thing? - microphone,,, S: Yeah, always… (imitates tapping the microphone) “Go and check that this works!” ”Yeah, it’s working!” (laughter) K: And then it turned out that some damn button had been in a wrong position! And then it hadn’t recorded the voices at all! They had been recorded only by the camera microphone, so… Damnit… S: But hey, we got some good feedback on how you and me had handled the camerawork just by ourselves! K: True! We were praised about that. S: We have so fine moving pictures there and all… K: Fill-out pictures and all.. camera shaking… S: Fill-out pictures…(imitates holding a shaking camera) K: (laughs) S: I think the best part was when we arrived in Helsinki and sat for half an hour in that car since we just couldn’t make ourselves to get out of it! (laughter) K: That was so funny, really… Omg, I can’t take this… Even now… I will remember that moment forever... we were just giggling there, we had already been there for half an hour, just sitting there … S: Yeah yeah. K: … before we even started shooting… …Whoah! Yes, but for sure, it was fun! The time went so fast, so wonderful guests… S: Yes, it did… it did. K: Mmhmm. We had great guests. S: Well, but we’ll make a new one then… K: Yeah, yeah, for sure… S: … in the near future! K: … at some point. Somebody suggested that we should go to Lapland. That would be interesting! S: Yeah, but let’s go during summer… not during winter. K: But then there will be the mosquitoes! I can’t go there during summer! S: Oh yeah… well, how about a trip to go and look at the autumn colors in there? K: Yeah! We should go there in the autumn! S: Yeah… K: But do we have celebrities over there who we could interview…? There is Sampo from the Deal… S: Someone actually living in there…? (laughter) K: I don’t really know… S: Reindeer… K: Then there is Jaajo Linnonmaa at Rovaniemi… I don’t know who we have there. S: Well we’ll see, we’ll see. Or how about if we make a trip in Europe! K: Hey, really… there in Italy.. oh boy, it was great in there! But we could never go there, at least not with that car, because we.. we… S: Hey, for sure we’re not going by car to a Europe trip! How long did you think we were going to spend making Tutka? Let’s change the… let’s drive to another country! (laughter) K: No-oo…If we rent from there… like we did now… They are completely crazy, those Italians, really! I mean – a street this narrow (shows with her hands) and still you have two oncoming cars, or I mean you have one oncoming car so that there are two… S: Oh dear…. K: …it’s just terrible! And then there are those serpentine mountain roads… it was so beautiful but… S: But Katri, you didn’t exactly drive on very wide roads when we were making Tutka… K: And maybe not all that carefully… S: Even with those oncoming tractors… Umm.. but I was going to ask you – you’ve been there in Tuscany… K: Yeah. S: Is it a lovely place, sort of an idyllic place? Since I’ve seen that movie “Under the Tuscan Sun” or what was it… K: Oh, it’s lovely! S: … so was it like that? K: Yes it is, and the people there are so great, but no-one speaks English - that’s the thing - so you just have to try, like “Si, si”… is it “si”? (laughs) I can’t even remember those words… S: Hand gestures… K: Yeah yeah… S: Just keep on talking with your hand! K: Yeah, and then I was just, like “bella casa” and “grazie, grazie” and all that, all the time… since those were the only things I knew. “Arrivederci”… Those I learned, since you had to know some compliments because they don’t know… they probably don’t understand if I’d said “Thank you”. So… S: Yeah yeah. Just curtsy like this or make a bow… K: (nodding) Yes, yes. Then I was just smiling there all the time. But… lovely place, wonderful people and sort of… I liked it very much. Tuscany is wonderful, but we weren’t probably quite in the wine area, at those best places where you could go and visit vineyards. That’s the funny thing there, that they don’t have any instructions about the vineyards, like “There is this vineyard and there is that vineyard,” but you can just go there… S: I see. K: But I’m going to write a travel story about this later. By the way, I made a video from Vancouver… I was so sorry that you weren’t there with me. S: You did? K: Yes. I have to publish that some time. S: Oh wow. Hey, I’m going on a trip too, this weekend - and I’m going to make a video there but I’m not telling you yet where and I’m telling you about it next week. K: (claps) Yes!!! Let’s see whose video is better! S: Yes, let’s see! (laughter) K: Hey, yeah… but that Vancouver is such a lovely place… S: Did you have clothes on in that video? K: Hah hah! Yeah, right… oh this is where we’re heading right away… S: Yeah, lets… K: … damn, I wish I had a chance to shoot that video again! (laughter) K: Hey, okay… London! What did you think of London? Since you were there… Have you been there… S: I liked it… I’ve been there a couple of times before and even now I was there on two separate occasions, actually… I spent three weeks there in all… But it… London isn’t really… It’s a lovely place and all, but… it was raining, it was raining every day. K: Nooo! S: It was raining, like every 15 minutes. You couldn’t go anywhere without an umbrella. Like, one day it was raining so much that I really started to lose my temper, because you were totally wet from head to toe, and cabs are really expensive, and the tube… in my opinion they aren’t going… or they were somehow cramped and they are expensive, too… and it was somehow more convenient to take a taxi when you’re traveling with a bigger gang, since a ticket to the tube cost four and a half pounds… K: It’s a shockingly expensive place, really! S: And if you pay 10 or 15 pounds for a short trip by cab, and there are three of you, it will be cheaper and you get directly to where you’re going. But the traffic there is just something insane, because the cars are driving there in full speed… I mean, I was… I went jogging there all the time with a navigator, because I really had no idea where I was jogging… K: (chuckles) S: … that was a sight as well… K: Omg… S: … A couple of times I ran on a car’s hood! I mean… K: Oh my God! S: Because the cars don’t give you way! And when the cars are driving on the left side… no, I mean on the right side… how is it? What do we have… ? Well, let’s say on the other side… K: Exactly, I don’t know either… S: They drive on the other side… K: Right, on the other side, on the left… S: So you’re used to looking like this (shows) if there are cars coming… K: And they are coming… S: … and you never look in the other direction! K: Yeah, yeah… S: I was jogging once, pretty slowly, and there was a car, and I was right there on my belly on the hood! K: Oh my God! You almost got hit by a car! S: And the cars don’t give you way! The usual way there is that the cars are not yielding, it’s the pedestrians who must yield, no matter if they’re on a crosswalk or wherever. And it’s funny, when in the States you’ve gotten used to that no matter if you’re on a crosswalk or not, you can cross the road and the cars must stop! K: Oh dear… well, that’s just the thing, that’s just it! S: Yeah… Twice I had a close call when I was running there… awful! K: For heaven’s sake! Thank God you got out of there! I was… S: So it’s not a nice place to live. Let’s say that with the weather… and the traffic is just awful… otherwise London is a nice city, I’m sure London or England… it would be nicer if you lived in a smaller place… K: Right! It is… S: There’s such a rush there… K: It is, yes, but Notting Hill is wonderful. I was there just recently in the spring and that Notting Hill is so lovely… S: It is… K: Yes… it’s sort of a more peaceful and beautiful… I like.. Hey, by the way, I went to Pisa to see that Leaning Tower. It’s great! S: It is? K: Yeah, it’s really great, and it’s leaning insanely much! You really don’t fathom how much… it’s almost falling down on you! S: How big is it? K: Jeez, It was something like… it is over 50 meters, for sure. So it’s pretty high… S: That much? K: … and it’s so funny when you are looking at the horizon, and everything else is straight and then there is this one damned thing tilted like this! (shows with her hand). And then I didn’t even remember why it is leaning… S: Can you get inside the tower? K: Yes, you can, but I didn’t bother going in because it was such a tourist trap after all. S: Yeah… K: But it’s funny, because it wasn’t intentionally made leaning… since I didn’t remember the story, but it has started to lean during the years. S: Oh, I see, I didn’t… K: And now it’s tilted 5.4 meters from the center. S: You mean when you look down from the top? K: Yeah, yes. S: Wow! It’s totally crooked! K: (laughs) Completely crooked! S: How does it still stay standing up? K: I don’t know, they did some repairing to it about 20 years ago, they tried to somehow – a couple of centimeters, and then… I don’t know. But it’s just on a couple funny… S: Does it have some kind of supporting pillars there? K: Yeah, but they are, they just go a couple meters into the ground. S: Oh dear… K: There is so much clay or something on top of the ground, so that’s why it had started to lean already in the early years. S: Oh wow… K: Seriously, I was totally shocked… or it’s somehow funny that it’s still standing there. S: Yeah, right. K: Well, yeah.. but yeah, now – do we also have any entertainment news that we could talk about? Hey, that… S: (chuckles) Well, this started… let’s say that my notes are looking like this (shows an empty paper) K: (laughs) You mean there’s nothing there? S: No! K: I really can’t see it here… Hey, Tuomas En… S: And my head is also pretty empty… But let’s say that BB is starting now this month… K: Yes, it is, and I’m really looking forward to it, because they are saying that now they have some really special and peculiar guests there… well, that’s what they always say! S: They always have… but it’s for sure… I was totally hooked last year, and we talked about it with you and all… Somehow I’m really excitedly waiting for it, because for me here, it’s somehow a nice… it was so nice to follow it here. K: You were totally hooked on it! S: I was! K: Guy is there somewhere in Los Angeles watching at eight in the morning how those people are getting drunk in the middle of the night! But it’s so great how you can watch all the best parts at a time which is good for you, whereas we here… I’m not watching some BB in the middle of the night! S: Yeah, yeah. But I’m going to follow that, that’s for sure. I have to say that I really haven’t been watching TV all that much during the vacation… K: Yeah… I haven’t watched TV at all! S: TV hasn’t been on at all. K: Yeah, completely. But it’s good, because then you can start watching again. Even my DTA broke during my vacation… folks had been visiting our place during our vacation and they had broken our DTA! It wasn’t you, was it? S: Sorry, what did you say? K: (laughs) Sauli, did you break our DTA? S: (laughs) No! I didn’t break your DTA! K: I just started thinking that what if it was you! There have been so many people visiting our place while we were away that… S: Yeah, I was living at Katri’s place while Katri was on the road… K: Yeah, and so, the DTA broke down, and just guess - there was also the last episode of Grey’s Anatomy, which I haven’t seen. So, I’m like, “I can’t take this!” I have to try and find it from the net… S: (at the same time) Download it from the net! K: Well, you know how my downloadings work… I don’t know how to download anything… (laughter) S: Well, what did I just… I had just yesterday a problem and I sent a message to one of your people [at Ilta-Sanomat] there, since I couldn’t insert any spaces in my blog! K: (laughs) S: I could make spaces between paragraphs, but when there was a picture, the text always started immediately after it, and I so totally lost my patience with it… I tried all possible tricks and thought that this just isn’t going to work out, there’s no point in even trying more, somebody must help me now. I believe that somebody there will send me a message today and tell me what I should do. Because right now everything is there in one long string! K: Help… omg! That’s just… it would be interesting… S: Oh boy… K: But you are… You’re just like Rita Tainola here with us… she’s always asking for some technical help… That would be fun if she came and asked me, “why are all my words in one long string?” “Press that spacebar!” S: I did! K: Yeah, I believe that you tried that one, too. Hey, well… S: And mouse… I started wondering when my mouse stopped working, “it’s not working, it’s not working, it’s not moving, it got stuck here…” I tried disconnecting it and all… Then I realized that it was a wireless mouse and the battery had just died. K: (laughs) Omg… oh no! S: Like, after about a 20 minutes’ fight… K: Oh no! My knee started hurting… how can it start hurting when I’m just sitting here? S: (laughs) K: Hey, one thing I was going to say to you… Tuomas Enbuske and Aki Linnanahde will start hosting the Morning show at Nova [radio station]… a pretty exciting choice from Nova, but I’m expecting… there will for sure be a lot of competition between all the morning teams… S: Okay… K: It was published today. What else… Oh yeah, and Tom and Katie got separated in the summer, that was of course just awful… S: Yes, it is… K: But the most shocking thing in my opinion is this Kristen Stewart – Robert Pattinson thing, because the things between them are already in such a knot… S: Somehow I don’t believe… They’ve made so many… Somehow I don’t believe that they even had a really big romance, since they’ve been already working together for so long… I think they are more like good friends than really dating each other. K: Year, or then they were a somehow uncertain about their relationship already from the beginning because they didn’t want to talk about it, and now all of a sudden she makes this public confession, saying “I’m sooo sorry, I’ve always loved you, Robert and I’ve hurt you so much and I hope you will forgive me…” Who does such a thing? I feel like, doesn’t she have any people there saying to here that maybe it’s not the best thing to do such a public… S: Yeah, right… K: And then they’re acting, even the wife of that director is in the same movie… somehow it’s an awful drama… somehow so embarrassing, from everyone’s point of view S: It’s difficult to sort that kind of thing out now… K: Yeah, for sure… but how about if we make some kind of an analysis here on their behalf? Or if you… S: Well, they are good friends and now they have decided to go their separate ways and… yeah… they’re not getting back together. K: Yeah, I don’t believe it either. It’s not possible after such a thing, because that Robert must be so hurt now… it’s so embarrassing. S: No… K: And hey, then - in the Olympics one of our mountain bikers, Pia… what was it? Sundstedt? Help, I’m so bad with these… well, she got married there, and Usain Bolt has proposed, no - asked the phone number of one of the Finns, Jenna Laukkanen… so lots of thing going on there, too. S: Yes. And I read from Facebook that someone called Katri Utula hates those mascots… K: (laughs) Well, that one-eyed mascot… they are just awful! S: (laughs) K: I mean, who has designed that thing, seriously? S: I did look at them too, and they really aren’t that fine, that’s for sure… why did they choose that kind of a frightening mascot there? K: It’s really super-scary! I didn’t like them at all, either! Oh dear God! The things you see… I was there at the London airport… S: Remove them from the shelves! K: I didn’t understand it at all there at the London airport… and no-one was even buying them! And I’m not surprised. S: Yeah… Hey, are there any other… We have BB starting now but are there any other interesting programs starting which we could start following? K: Well, Dances With The Stars will be announced pretty soon… Ella Kanninen will be hosting that with Mikko Leppilampi, which was a bit of a surprise - that they chose Ella again there. S: I see… K: Umm… then, what else… all kinds of… there are so much programs starting right now, Dances is starting and… Oh dear God… S: Okay… K: I don’t even know all the programs starting… S: So it’s again going to be a… K: Yeah, so… I’m already getting anxious about how much… there’s no way we’ll have time to… We’ve already talked now for over 20 minutes and we haven’t said a thing… (laughter) S: We haven’t said a thing to you! But this is a sort of… when we’re crazy as bats while thinking about what we could do here. K: Oh dear… Exactly. This was a sort of… we really didn’t know why we would make a Tutka but we decided that okay, let’s make one because we haven’t seen each other and this is always a good way to talk… S: This is a start! Next time I might even have two bullet points here (shows the empty paper)… some topics. K: (laughs) No no, let’s start with just one, let’s not get too carried away S: Okay, let’s start with one. One topic. (laughter) K: Right! S: All right! K: Yeah, indeed. But hey, I’ll go and continue working still for a while… It was lovely to see you! S: Oh yes, it was… K: Even though just.. S: It was nice to hear from you… Everything’s okay… K: Yes, everything’s fine. S: We’re both alive… K: Yes, yes… even after the traffic in Italy and London, we’re both... S: We’re both back at home! K: Yes, yes we are. Even though I can’t say that it was so great to come back here because it was really pretty amazing in Italy… S: Yeah… K: But it will be okay… Everybody else have this same problem at some point, when they have to get back to the routines, it can’t be helped. S: True. K: Yes yes. But hey, we’ll continue next week! And we’ll try to figure out something sensible to say! (laughter) S: We’ll make up something for next week! K: Yes, sure! Hey, wonderful! Once again, thank you so much for all your feedback, they’ve been really heartwarming… S: Hey, lovely… K: Really, so thank you! S: Yes! And I already wrote in my blog that we just have to do some kind of thing with Katri at some point… K: Hmmm… S: Some Tutka… somewhere… K: Absolutely! S: Maybe even in Siberia… I don’t know yet… K: (shakes her head – expression :D ) Sauli… (mouthes) No, no! S: But hey, until next week now! Hey, next week I can tell you a little bit about my trip. K: Good, great! Do that! Great! Yes, yes! Okay, see you! S: Bye! K: Bye bye!

K: Sauliii! Where are you…? (laughs when Sauli turns the camera towards himself) S: Konnichiwa! (laughter) K: What? Excuse me? S: Konnichiwa! K: Yeah, right! Yeah yeah, hi to you too! I’m here… hold on, you are definitely now somewhere else than in Los Angeles, that scenery doesn’t look like Los Angeles at all. S: Yeah well - I’m here in Tokyo… I flew here on Monday… to see the wonders of Japan. K: Oh boy, that’s great! Hey, well… oh yes, this really was such a surprise to me… like ummmh… “Really, you are in Tokyo?” (laughs) S: Such a surprise to everybody since I just published my blog and told in it that I’m in Japan… in Tokyo (laughs) K: Dammit! Hey, your voice and picture and everything come so delayed now… I’m really surprised that the sound techniques in Tokyo are such… or that this whole thing is delayed this way. For example, I see you raised your hands just now and I don’t know when you actually did raise them. S: Just a while ago. Hey look, I’m sweating here. This is such a great place, and my head is just swirling and twirling here! K: Great! Well, tell us something about that place. S: Well, I’ve been here only a couple of days now and yesterday I walked around a bit, and I even used the subway all by myself even though there were lines going to every possible direction and all. But there’s really one strange thing here since basically people don’t speak English at all, they just keep on babbling in Japanese and I don’t know any of it, you know. So it’s just hand signs and… (voice disappears) K: Oh my God… well, what… tell us something, all the things are really strange there, like toilets and all… S: Yeah yeah yeah, even going to the toilet is totally an episode of its’ own, and also taking a shower. There are buttons every where and you don’t know what happens with them. When you push one of them (shows with hands, voice breaks). I’ve been so totally confused and really lost about everything here. K: (laughs) No, I can’t take this… And then you just keep on curtseying there… S: Bowing, yes - to everything… everyone… Yesterday, I was all day just (nods several times)… When I woke up this morning, my head… my neck was all stuck since I’ve been just bowing to every direction all the time and… people here are really great though, they just keep on smiling and laughing and, you know, everybody’s a bit shy and always when they laugh, they have their hand in front of their mouth (shows) and all. And all that bowing and nodding and… Japan is really in a league of its own, for sure! K: (laughs) Oh boy… S: And the people on the streets and all… I mean, the fashion here - when everyone looks a bit like… You know, since Tokyo is probably the Mecca of fashion in Japan… K: Yes S: … so here you see the Japanese fashion and everybody looks a bit like cartoon characters and such, sort of… you know, a bit like those Pokemon characters… It’s just so cool! (laughs) K: But at least you yourself are so… luckily you’re not one of those 190 meters… no, I mean… 190 meters tall (laughs to herself), at least you fit in there since your height is sort of blending in with them. When some people go there from Europe, those a bit taller ones, they are like… they’re a head taller… S: Well, I’ve been getting some looks though, because of this blond hair and blue eyes. K: For sure, yes. Hey, what do you have there, some kind of a fan? S: I have this… here you don’t… look, I’ve already learned this trick to perfection... (flicks the fan open)… how to open the fan. Well yeah, you can’t go anywhere here without a fan like this, you can get these everywhere. There are these sort of a finer models, and also disposable ones… at every street corner there’s someone offering you these fans. It’s so hot out there, right now it’s about +31 C but I mean, the humidity out there - it’s just something unbelievable. You just take like two steps and you’re dripping with sweat and… K: Seriously? S: Today I started feeling a bit weak, you know - probably because one’s body loses so much fluid and you just have to remember to keep on drinking lots of water all the time. K: Yeah I know, it was exactly the same for example in Italy, since it’s humid there too, you really don’t even understand how much you’re supposed to drink. I too felt all the time like I was going to pass out any minute. S: Yeah. K: Hey, well – I’d love to talk more about Tokyo with you now, but we have to talk more about it next time because you’re still gonna travel a bit more there so you can tell us all the good bits in the next Tutka. S: I have to say one more thing… K: Welll? S: … my head is totally mixed up and all and I really don’t know what time it is, since compared to the time in Los Angeles I sort of… I jumped 16 hours ahead in time. Usually when I’ve gone to Finland for a visit, the jetlag has been pretty bad, since it’s 10 hours, after all… 16 hours is really bad… you really feel it! K: But on the other hand, it’s only four hours to the other direction, no - I mean eight hours to the other direction. S: Which direction? K: Well, backwards. You just sort of change the day, but 16 hours… if it is… what’s the time there now? S: Well, it’s five o’clock here now… ten past five in the afternoon. K: Yeah, and what’s the time in LA? S: In LA it is… ummm… K: One o’clock at night? S: Yeah, one at night. K: Yeah. So, it’s only eight hours, in a way. S: Well, I don’t know what’s bothering me, but during the past couple of nights I’ve slept only three hours and woke up at four in the morning, and I’ve been all mixed up. (laughter) K: Well yeah, but I also don’t… seriously, jetlag is sometimes really awful… this summer, when I went to Canada, I had a horrible jetlag too… it took almost a week before I got rid of it. S: (no sound) … I’m all confused with the times since I have things to take care of in Los Angeles now and I also have things to take care of in Finland… K: (laughs) S: … and all this in Japanese time… I’m so mixed up! I even called the Sonera customer service… and of course I didn’t… my timing was totally off since I calculated the times wrong… (no sound)… K: Just great! (laughs) S: …because of those time differences. Oh well… K: Oh dear… Yeah, but hey… we have a terrible catastrophe here in Finland now... S: Well, what’s up in there? K: Can you see this? (shows the front page of the newspaper) … (They continue talking about the movie about C.G.E. Mannerheim, the former president of Finland, made by YLE (Finnish national broadcasting company), about the new season of the Apprentice in Finland – both Katri and Sauli had been asked to join the Celebrity Apprentice (they both said no) – and about other gossip and old and new TV programs.)
16:26 – 17.52 K: But hey, a national mourning… S: Okay, you have all the news now, we move on to national mourning and… (voice breaking) K: You can tell all the news next time because I’ve been going through mine now, for once I even had several lists! You promised that you’ll have one next time, I didn’t promise a thing! S: If I start talking about the Japanese news here now, it would get very quiet here! (laughter) K: You should try and spot some celebrities there… (laughs) S: I don’t even know if the letters are read this way (shows) or this way… K: Oh my God… You must show… Hey, you must buy some entertainment magazine from there and show it to me next time! S: Yeah yeah, I mean - it looks totally incomprehensible. They already gave us this Japanese news -paper in the airplane and I also got one of those – I was, like, “Hmm, what should I do with this?” since there are just those letters going this way (shows), those scribbles going in every direction. K: Show me! Because I want to see what kind of celebrities they have there, are they all like… Since we think they all look the same and they think we all look the same, so it’s so funny. S: (sound disappears)… sort of video where I have this Japanese group around me, so we’ll try to have it here somehow too. K: Yes yes. Good idea. Hey… S: Then I’ll also have a Japanese interpreter here with me next time! K: Yes! Do that. (babbles a sentence of “Japanese”) S: (laughs) (babbles a sentence of “Japanese”) (laughter)
20:41 – 22.35 (Talk about the Olympics closing ceremony) S: How about the Spice Girls then? Did you see them? K: Right! Yes, I thought that could be our last topic today because it was…well, I liked them really a lot. S: I thought they were good, too. I thought it was cool how they had put it together and how they came there in those taxicabs and… K: Mmmhmmm… S: So yes, it was really great! K: Yes it was, the only… S: I watched… I watched it two or three times in all, and it was really cool. There was something though that I… I would have liked something more in there… “Don’t finish yet, don’t finish yet”, but if they had performed one more song there… K: The same… since I had heard that they were only going to do two songs and that first song changed sort of in the middle of it… so the first one wasn’t even a whole song. “Nooo, they’re already finishing! Pleeease, stay a bit longer there!” S: Yes, but then there was a little bit… Victoria Beckham didn’t really smile that much. K: No, she was sooo bad in there anyway. She was somehow just wobbling around there on her high heels and then she was just (mimicking her)… making a sort of strange faces and wiggling into some weird poses there… S: A bit like… (sound disappears) Yeah, yeah. K: All the others were there like, “Yes, yes, yes!” (showing), with such a great energy, happy and with such… I really… Emma and Geri and then especially Mel B, they were just amazing. S: And I think it was funny how they had still the same choreography in “Wannabe” and they were making those same movements and all in there… K: Absolutely. S: I thought it was so cool. And then the Queen was also good. Did you watch them performing there? K: Yes, I did – yes, I did. You know, Jessie J is a really good performer. S: She is a good performer but I sort of wanted something more in to it…like a…. something. Don’t know what. K: Oh yeah, maybe some other kind of a performer…? (laughs) S: Well, that’s it - I would have liked to have a male perfomer instead of Jessie J even though she did sing very well, but yeah… (laughs) So I would have liked to have that little amendment there. K: Oh yeah, right… yeah yeah… S: Yes. So I guess I have to call Brian and tell him. K: Exactly. Hey, come on… (they continue talking about the closing ceremony and Robbie Williams, how they both mix Robin and Robbie Williams etc.)
23:39 - S: They have here - that’s the reason I’m here now - they have the Japan, no, the Tokyo Festival here this weekend. K: Oh? S: I’m going there. They have… I don’t… Don’t ask me about who’s going to perform there, we’ll find out about that later… K: (laughter) S: But I know that at least Rihanna is also here. K: Oh yeah? S: Yes. She’s really a top performer, you know. K: How does she have time from all that vacationing and posing in bikinis…? S: I really don’t know. I myself… I don’t know how I found time to come here either… (sound disappears) K: True! She has just been hanging around there at the Barbados and now she’s even back together with Chris Brown. I can’t take it! S: I don’t know… we’ll see what comes out of that. K: If Chris Brown is there, tell me, tell me about that then. S: Yeah… should I tell greetings from Katri to him…? Like, “By the way, you’re not getting…” K: “You’re not getting back together with her.” Maybe you could tell him that. S: Yeah, yeah. Then on Sunday I’ll be going from Tokyo to Osaka. K: Oh, great! Okay, then you’ll tell us all about Osaka the next time we talk. S: Yes, right. K: You are just mumbling there something because I just hear… I just see you talking like (gestures)… and the sound is coming… S: Okay, but we’ll see. I just wrote a blog and Katri gave me some advice on how to get those empty spaces there in the middle between the blogs (Note: he means paragraphs)… K: True… S: … since I haven’t been able to get those spaces in there. So I just tried it, I managed to get the empty lines there and then I was just about to send it, and the empty lines just disappeared. So still – no empty spaces there. K: I don’t believe it! So that BR thing didn’t work? S: It worked in one spot but then it didn’t work there later, like… K: But you have to do it separately for every place needed. S: I did! Every one of them! K: Oh… S: But you can only see it… (sound disappears) so there are no spaces. But I’ll try to fix that. But at least the text is there now, so there’s a bit more about what I’ve been doing. K: Great! Hey, next time we’ll talk about… we’ve been talking for 25 minutes now, that’s again a good almost a half an hour’s set. But we for sure did cover quite a lot of things here now. S: And there are new programs starting, BB is starting this month. K: Yes, it’s starting soon. I guess I have to call to Elina and ask about what’s going on there. S: Okay. K: But hey, have a great Tokyo… S: Yes, thanks, arigato (bows) K: … and then that some word, whatever it was. But hey, see you next week! S: See you next week, and hopefully I’ll be back in LA then. K: Yes, okay. Hopefully the flights also co-operate this time… Okay – hey! Everybody, have a wonderful week! Bye bye bye! S: Bye!

Rita: Where is he now? Is this already taping? K: Yes, it’s recording already. Rita: Sauli, where are you now? S: Well, I’m here in Hollywood! K: In Hollywood, wait… can you hear this (Rita)? Rita: Hollywood… are you there under the H? (laughter) S: … under the H… K: Yes, we have Rita Tainola here as our guest (Note: Rita is Katri’s colleague in Ilta-Sanomat and a well-known celebrity reporter) Rita: Tell him that I’m on my way to a television interview… S: Tell her hi, how is Rita doing? Rita: … I just came here just because you’re disturbing my life. K: She wants to tell you that she’s going to a TV interview. (To Rita:) What will they be asking you? Rita: I don’t know since I haven’t asked what they will ask me because I’m… you see, I’m always prepared… K: (laughs) S: Hey, when will Rita come to LA? Rita: … to anything and to every situation… K: Exactly! Rita: … also at home. Bye now! (disappears from the screen) K: (bursts into a laughter) S: Okay – so there she went already. K: This is so… Rita! What can you say about that with just one word… (laughs) S: Yes – there she went. There she is, going back and forth. K: She’s already in some TV interview, yeah, yes. S: Okay. K: Well, so… once again one of those kind of starts… S: Sure was… K: Hey, well… what… S: Actually, I couldn’t even see Rita’s head on my screen here - all I could see was her cleavage… K: (laughs) I think she does that totally on purpose, so I can tell her about it… she’ll be just happy – ”Oh? Great! Did it look good?” ”Yeah, yeah.” (laughter) K: Well, hey… you got back from Japan… S: I did. K: …or went back – not here but there to LA S: Yeah, I flew back from Jaappan, you know… to Los Ankkeles (Note: he pronounces the names of the places purposefully wrong) and I had an awful jetlag… for two days. I had a total blackout for two days because I was awake for 30 hours after I left and got here and my rhythm got once again all upside down because of that. It was like getting back from the future again… K: To the past. S: … to the past here. So I sort of lost two days of my life again, but now I’m back on my feet and life’s smiling now again. K: Good. Hey, were there… did your flights work out okay this time? So you didn’t have to… S: Yes! K: Wow! S: Yes, they were all in time even though they were regular flights. I did have to run at the San Francisco airport… I had only five minutes to get on the plane so there was a bit of a hurry there, but I made it. K: Oh dear… how do they give you that kind of transfer flights? Was the flight delayed, the previous one? S: Well, there was only an hour’s transfer time. K: Okay, wow. S: But that’s always the case when you fly to the States, they have all that questioning there… K: Oh yeah, that… S: … so that takes time. The queues were like a kilometer long. I went straight to the first officer I saw there, and I was like “Hey listen, I really don’t have time for all this queuing right now – so I’m gonna go to the front of the line.” K: (laughs) S: And so I did! At first he was like, ”You really should stand in the line…” “Look, I can’t because I need to make it to this flight…” Necessity knows no laws, that’s why I went there. And then the man was asking, when I went there… See, they have this separate line for those who don’t have an American passport… K: … Mmm… S: … and then the other one for those with American passports, and at there was no queue at all. K: Of course not. S: So that’s where I went with all the others in that group. K: Yes of course you went there. S: So I went there. The man there said like, “you really shouldn’t be coming here” and I said that I’m in such a hurry right now that I just have to! And he let me go, I got stamps on my passport and got through and I ran and I made it. K: (laughs) I can’t take this… S: So no, it wasn’t all that clear sailing, but… I didn’t miss the flight! K: Hey, people have been telling me about this thing that in the States, with those customs/immigration officers, you really shouldn’t talk to them. And me, I’m always like ”Hey, how u doing, what have you been doing today” with my “fluent” English. S: Yeah. K: And they are always a bit like… they sort of look at me and say something like, ”Well, nice thanks” and ”How are you” and then I just [say] something. S: Right. K: Then I’ve been told that one should never say anything to them because they don’t… you don’t want to make them angry and all, sort of… Then I’m all like, “Why should it make them angry if I just chat a little bit with them?” But apparently that seems to happen in many cases… But I see that you’re having that same attitude as I do “And I’m so going to do that!” S: Yes I do have. They didn’t like it very much now since I really sort of rushed in there. They were kind of “Hey boy, take two steps backwards right now…” because when I went to that counter I actually kind of flopped down on it. But well, I made it through okay. So that one wasn’t the nicest officer in the world, last time there was a much nicer, a female one. K: Yeah, right. But it really depends on that sometimes they don’t… you really can see right away if they don’t want to chat at all so then it’s a bit… S: Yes you can, you can. When you throw that first little joke in there and there’s no hint of a smile, there’s no point in trying for more. K: That’s absolutely true, you have to have this sort of a touch to know.... S: Yes, you’re right K: Yeah, so then there isn’t really much point in it. But well… S: Right, but yeah, I got back from there and, well… K: Tell us something more about Osaka. What was up in there? S: It was nice, I spent only two days there. One thing that disappointed me in Osaka was that I was about to go to a gym there and I wasn’t allowed in there because… I don’t know, I guess I had this same sleeveless top on… but because I have these tattoos. K: What??? S: Yeah, I didn’t. I should have hidden them under a tape or put on a shirt with long sleeves. K: No!!! S: And because I had already walked 15 minutes to get to that gym, I didn’t have time to go and get anything with long sleeves from the hotel room because I was in a rush anyway,… and besides, the only things with long sleeves I had there in the hotel room were a suit jacket, leather jacket or a bathrobe… so I don’t know which one I would have worn at the gym while running. K: (laughs) S: Yeah, that was the really only thing that annoyed me in Tokyo [Osaka?] or in Japan, but otherwise the trip was really awesome. K: Oh, wow. S: But they have this custom there that you can’t go to any public places, like pools or anything if you have tattoos. They think you are a gangster K: You must be kidding! S: Yes, they do! K: Oh well, you really are such a gangster, I wouldn’t let you in any gym, either! S: Yeah, I didn’t have… and when I came to LA and woke up in the morning, all this hair had again grown all over my face and… K: Well yeah, and show us your nails – what’s happened to your nails? S: (shows) Well there’s all kinds of stuff on…(laughs) K: Great! Oh dear! And again you have some color in your hair! Oh dammit! S: (laughs) K: Your hair is different color every time! Sauli!!! Hey… S: Hey, variety is the spice of life! K: Well, that’s true. S: Yes. K: But with you, you spice your life with variety every week! S: Well, I get bored easily. K: (shows her list) Hey, I got many things here again! S: You do? I can see just one line of text there, something with red. K: (laughs) Hey, well… S: Hey, I have something for you, our viewers - as this back wall here behind me is kind of boring by itself I will be having a changing picture there from now on. Right now that picture is my old security number list from Osuuspankki (a Finnish bank). K: (laughs) S: So I will be having some variety on that back wall now. K: So you came up with that… great, that is so… it looks all brand new now. Jeez, how refreshing… S: Yes, it does, doesn’t it? K: … so fresh and bright now all that… S: Refreshing! So refreshing! K: Yes! (laughs) Really! All new, new dimensions. Now I really feel like, I look so much more forward to calling to you since you have that security number list there on the wall. S: I’ll have a new picture there every week. K: Yeah, okay – good! Good! S: Waiting excitedly for the next week already! K: There’ll probably be a new security number list there next time, then. S: Might be, we’ll see then. K: Okay, hey – first of all, you have some new stuff going on there. First of all, they have now chosen two judges for the American Idol. S: Mmmhmm. K: They have chosen Mariah Carey and then Nicki… mmhh… what is it? S: Nicki Minaj… or something. K: This is really… S: Hey, just say Nicki! K: Yeah… and with my general knowledge, once again I admit – I didn’t know who that is, sorry – I didn’t know. I’m really so bad. S: She’s this, like… would she be something like 25 years old? A rap artist. K: Okay. S: She’s really famous here and well known and she’s doing a lot of gigs right now and she has done… I can’t remember, for example how many awards she got last year, and so on. But pretty… a pretty new case and face, anyway. It must be… I don’t know how much they play her music in Europe, but at least here they are playing it a lot. K: Why did they choose her there? S: I don’t know. K: Strange, really strange. Well, but Mariah Carey anyway sure must be good. X-Factor – have you had any time to watch it now that Britney is there? S: Uhh, I’m going to be honest and tell you that I’ve only watched a couple of clips from Youtube, but I haven’t watched it yet. I really should though. K: Yeah, you should… S: So I don’t have that much to say about it now but I’m going to watch.. start to watch it with interest now because Britney’s in there and I’d like to see how she manages… K: Right. S: … I believe they’ll start showing it in Finland too. K: I hope so, because I don’t know, really. I just, it just popped into my mind today that will they show it here, I don’t know. S: But yeah, Idols… we’re still waiting excitedly news about the American Idol. They have now two judges there and they still need to choose… K: Yeah, either one or two, however many they are now going have there. S: However many, yeah. K: Yes, okay – well what’s up here, then? (They continue about talking gossip and TV-programs in Finland)
15.05 – 16.45 clip K: Hey, have you seen the BB commercial? S: Seen what? K: The BB ad, commercial. I saw it on Facebook one day, there is this big lady and she has two dogs and one of them has a tag “Sauli” and the other one “Adam”. (cracks up) S: (chuckles, hides his face behind his hand) I’m speechless. I saw it and I was totally perplexed, I was like “Oh my goodness”. K: (laughs) S: It was a little bit, I had sort of mixed thoughts about it, about that commercial. On one hand I understand that in that commercial they… since I am a part of that format, after all, I do understand that they use my name in there and all… and my picture. But then, when this other party has nothing to do with the whole BB at all, to me it… it just made me wonder if they had asked from the people here if they are allowed to use his name to advertise the Finnish Big Brother. K: Yes, that’s true. S: Yeah. K: Except that when it’s only the first name, they can always say that this can be any Adam. S: There is also the picture. K: Oh, I haven’t seen that one! Oh my God! S: On that woman’s shirt there’s, there’s my face and then, umm… K: You must be kidding! I can’t believe that! S: Sure they can use the name but they shouldn’t use that picture. K: I haven’t seen that one. But seriously, in my opinion that’s a bit rude, you should always ask from the person involved, you just can’t use other person’s picture just like that in an ad or commercial, really. S: Yes, exactly. K: You have a court case there for you! (laughs) S: Here we come! (his expression and gestures :D) (laughs) K: But hey, while we are waiting for BB… (they continue about the upcoming TV programs to the end.)
K: Hey, yes, until next week then! S: Until then! (waves) K: Have a nice week, everybody! (waves) Byeeee! What a clap… (laughs)
(Note: if you want to see the pictures they are talking about, they are both now on the Ilta-Sanomat page below the video (scroll down a bit) - link at the top of this post.
