But isn't that true of many artists' fan groups? Especially fans of Idols? I've seen the call for "sending to the troupes, gifting, etc" from fans of other idols.

For what it's worth, Willie Nelson is supposed to drop his new album on May 15th as well. It is called Heroes but is an album of duets. It could do well, but really difficult to estimate his fanbase now.

I find Norah Jones' numbers very interesting. Her numbers show how time and circumstances change. The prediction for her first week sales is 95-105. During her career she has sold over 1 million in first week sales - down to 180,000 and points inbetween.
I think Kelly Clarkson just hit it very lucky with her second album, Breakaway. She didn't even want Breakaway, the song, on her album but Clive Davis insisted. He was right. Breakaway opened the door for her, IMO. Without that song, she would not have broken away. heh.

Opening weeks for the past 10 months. Kelly 163,000 Daughtry 128,600 Cook 46,000
I think Adam can do around Daughtry sales. Do not see Kris selling as much as Cook, so I think the 40,000 estimate for Kris is way too high.

This was posted at Pulse on March 15th by the same guy who posted The numbers we got today: _____________________________ I don't know why people are surprised. Jack White's New Release Schedule estimate was 110k and The Wanted's estimate was 47k. Jason Mraz's estimate is 97k and Train's estimate is 100k. The New Release Schedule estimated 250k for Bruce Springsteen. Upcoming numbers: 3/13: One Direction 175k Ting Tings 25k 3/20: The Shins 100k Hunger Games Sdtk. 100k Cold Future 60k Melanie Fiona 38k Esperanza Spulding 32k 3/26: Madonna 205k Shinedown 90k Lionel Richie 65k All American Rejects 40k Katy Perry re-release 39k 4/3: Nicki Minaj 500k Rascal Flatts 180k Marvin Sapp 90k Remember, we have no idea how they compile these numbers. I'm sure some are based on pre-orders from retailers and the first week sales of the last release. ____________________________ How close were these estimates? Please don't make me look it up! I just read through 600 posts from this guy to find the last estimates he posted. He is a HUGE Madonna stan. I'm a little overwhelmed!

The only one I know for sure is Lionel Richie. His is grossly under estimated but Lionel had a TV Special right before release that this guy probably didn't know about.

Jack White opening 138,000 copies, estimate was 110k Wanted opening 34,000 copies, estimate was 47k Jason Mraz opening 102,000 copies, estimate was 97k ugh, google has crashed on me looking up the others... will try again in a minute ETA: also A++ US music buyers opting for Jack over the Wanted that week So the estimates were both low & high. I'm sure last minute promotion can make a difference. This is what I'm thinking. If it's the high end I'll be happy. If it's closer to 100K I'll be beside myself with joy!

I think Adam will be 75-80K; but I would love to be surprised and see him reach 100K. I think 40K is high for Kris. I think he will be about 35K.
Don't forget, Kelly's album came out in October (I think), and Daughtry had Black Friday---makes a big difference.
