Aw, Jean :( I still have hope. Adam is with a very good management team. I think there are things planned for the fall. DMG (and RCA, for that matter) didn't have a lot of time to work with after the album drop as Adam left for the UK so soon. And, while I don't feel as positive about the Idol gig as I did a couple weeks ago, I haven't given up hope yet However, I do agree that SOMETHING has to happen to change the trajectory.

Thanks Bullsfan, You made me feel better. I need to take the advise Lynne wrote on the news thread about not being so invested in the life paths that our grown children take, but rather step back in a zen manner and just enjoy watching their lives unfold as they live it. I have done this over the past few years with my young adult children and it has been ever so good for me and I think for them too. I need to be more emotionally detached from Adam's career, let it unfold as it will and enjoy what part of his talent he is able to share with the public.

Why do I have to log in every time I come here? Just have time for one comment - I too love swarm's posts! Loving the posts doesn't mean one has to agree with every single point. The diversity here is what makes this board interesting to me. In fact I'd like more of it. I used to have to sign in each time as well, until someone pointed out how to access it from the "new topics" tab. Thanks! I would have NEVER found that on my own. LOL Buried deep.

I can't post this in the news thread because mods have said no discussion about Chris Brown. But since someone brought up how come Chris Brown keeps getting good reviews (this after Q Magazine gave Adam a score of 40) ... this made me happy.
Rolling Stone only gave Brown's current album 2 stars in their latest issue, with the comment: "... but deep listening means getting cozy with a guy so reviled mosquitoes won't bite him. On it he brags about his extra large condoms, and, on 'Don't Judge Me' he turns a tender love song into a twitter rant against haters. It will have a broad audience"
However, it was #1 on their Top 40. Go figure.

And here is my scream for the day;
That Q review that made his MC score plummet really made me angst. The first critiques coming from the UK were great - remember? We were so optimistic that Trsp was going to do well there. Having that hope possibly shattered is not something I can easily brush off. Many fans ARE brushing off this "bad" review with comments about "one person's opinion" and "doesn't really matter". Truth is - if the review were stellar we'd think it would matter a LOT. We'd be celebrating & high-five-ing. Sometimes I think we sound like Cook fans rationalizing all news that's less than wonderful.
Maybe that's the best way to cope. I don't know. I just hate to go down that making excuses road. Everything that happens affects his career and his future. The good stuff AND the bad stuff.
Is this too dark for the Dark side? LOL
And now that I've screamed I feel better. And YES I'm still very optimistic about his future. His talent is astounding and can't be forever ignored. Maybe not for Pop though? Don't know. High hopes for Cuckoo!!!

Adam, himself, has said that this album is "make or break" so of course it needs to do well. I am so not familiar with "Q" and so far removed from the UK, that I can't get too upset about the review. At this point, I am kind of "over" the whole review thing. Trespassing got a great review from Rolling Stone and a great review in People magazine (I see this mag EVERYWHERE).
I also think that the lack of commercial success for Trespassing has contributed to the poorer reviews that have come out recently. In other words, if an album isn't doing well, I think that influences some reviewers. Or, if they were going to write a poor review anyway, the fact that the album has fallen off the charts probably makes them feel justified.
Anyway, I am waiting to see what happens this fall. I will be majorly bummed if RCA/DMG has no big plans. Truly, if they care about Adam as a new artist they need to get going---find something to change the trajectory, whether it is AI judge or something else. The last thing I want to see (really unpopular, I know) is for Adam to disappear on some 4-6 month Trespassing tour, supporting an album that has had no hits and has sold less that 200K. Whatever happens, Adam needs to get exposure and not disappear like Cook, KA, etc., etc.

JazzRocks, I am with you on that Q review. I, like many of us, had very high hopes that the UK was going to love Trespassing and make it a hit. Now that hope seems to be gone. This has been a time full of dashed hopes without a doubt. I had high hopes that radio would jump on BTIKM. Then I was very bullish about NCOE being a smash hit because of things like "the PDs liked it best" that we heard. When Trespassing dropped at #1 and the first reviews were positive, my hopes soared again. Now with Trespassing about to fall off BB200 and a MC score much lower than earlier, hopes for this era are again dashed. I think the Idol rumors are the hardest to take. I feel like I am watching someone I love drowning when someone throws him a lifesaver. My heart breathed a sigh of relief, "Yay he's going to be alright". Then I realized he missed the lifesaver and is going under again. I can't get too excited about the new single, though I will do my fan duties of requesting, voting, gifting etc. because I think it will be the samething as before. I too am questioning if pop is the right place for him. One thing I do not doubt is that he is an amazing talent and fantastic person. Sorry this is so dark and sad, but it is how I feel. The emotional swings are hard to take.

Yeah. I would LOVE a Trsp Tour ngl. But somehow it doesn't make a lot of sense right now. Fans are clamoring for a tour but how will it be financed and how will it help him add to his fan base when it will be mostly US again? I'm trying to buy into the idea that great things are happening that we don't know about because he seems so happy, confident & excited, but I remember in several interviews he said he works really hard to appear always confident and positive in public. So I don't know. I DO know that I'm taking fandom too seriously right now. LOL

I am sure that his management is working very hard to find him exposure, but as far as I can tell massive exposure comes from radio or TV and he needs to be on those a lot to make a dent. With both there are few opportunities and lots of competition. I am happy about PLL but we need a lot more TV than this. One thing that is huge in Adam's favor is that he is an endlessly fascinating person, and the press seems to find him as irresistible as we do. I am always so happy to see him included with the big names on lists like possible Idol judges, Do Something Awards, Sexiest Man in Music etc. The problem is that really there are not many great things available for any artist. The Queen gig should have been pretty big promo IMO, and it basically got no coverage here.

Strangely, the idea of Adam fronting Queen got more press than the actual concerts did, at least in the US. If Adam does anything here with Queen, it's going to have to be a one-off (or maybe two) in a major venue to get any big press.
Still hoping for a big fall, but nothing has really gone the way I thought it would.

I agree with some of you that maybe pop doesn’t suit him. I even think that he’s too good for pop music these days. People always say that Rock music has died but I believe that it will come back one day. It’s just waited for a savior to bring it back to life. I always have a feeling that Adam is the one.
Just an opinion from someone who is so sick of things like radio ignorance and idol rumors. It’s so sad that such a talent singer, who is also very gorgeous and charismatic, still needs to depend on djs and a show like American Idol to make him a successful artist.

Adam is a successful artist, IMHO,not getting enough play on radio, doesn't change the fact that he is a world famous great singer. He's just not a radio friendly POP singer.

When are we gonna be able to have new pics/videos without them triggering more hair bashing?
