Yay! My local HAC station in San Diego just added NCOE to the Mediabase Request form. I've been doing write-ins forever it seems! Can any tell me how to find out when they played the song? It's Star 94.1 KMYI-FM. They played it two times -- 1 Weds and 1 Thurs -- both overnight spins. Requesting now is important because they are "testing" the song. If they get good response and requests they will play it more. |

Testing it by playing it once overnight? Guess I don't understand radio at all. |

Don't most test spins happen during the day? I remember when WKSC was testing WWFM---they gave it, like, 6 or 7 spins in one day. (and then basically dropped it, but that's another story)
eta---testing a song by giving spins, out of the blue, for one day doesn't seem great, either. But that's radio

Here is a brilliant article about station programming -- www.radioiloveit.com/radio-music-research-music-scheduling-software/music-scheduling-song-rotation-rocket-science/It should wipe any idea that a PD says, "Oh I like this song, play it a lot." Out of your mind. Just like stores are stocked using complex model, radio stations are programmed with complex models and with a core positioning strategy. This is not art, it is science. This is not music, this is business. ETA: A lot of testing is done off-air. I used the term loosely. Like let's test this one out and see if listeners like it. But let's play it at 8:00PM because that is low risk. |

I've checked the leaders and starters lists on allaccess for CHR yesterday and today. He had about 98 spins yesterday and today it is 112!  |
