Queen here, Queen there, Queen everywhere, how about his solo career?.......... Strike while the iron is hot! Yes!!! And he's obviously doing what he chooses to do! I'm happy to ride along on whatever tangents his career takes. I love his solo career, but he is also soooooo magical with Queen. His happiness and excitement come through in his performances with them. I can't wait to follow along on this latest royal adventure.

I've been in and out of here, mostly as a lurker, as both of my parents and my brother-in-law have all recently become very ill. Maybe it's just because things are quite black and white in my world right now, but I'm not personally worrying if the QAL gigs delay Adam's own solo album. If he were just starting out and counting on this or that to "make it," I would get the worries. But, Adam is now a multi-millionaire, so it's my guess that, apart from his label's contractual obligations, anything he does now is of his own free will. He must LOVE being a part of Queen because, even though he is now independently wealthy, he continues to weave his own, personal artistic pursuits throughout his multi multi-date appearances with Brian and Roger. If he weren't already financially well-off, I might think that he was sacrificing his own artistic explorations for financial gain, but being a part of Queen is obviously something he truly enjoys and must think is worth a slower personal album release pace.
ETA: I guess what I'm saying is that Adam in any form is like sunshine for me, and it's even brighter knowing that he's in the financial shoes to do what he wants when he wants to! He may not be the biggest name in the business, but he is clearly a respected name and has found various interesting, artistic ways to keep busy and relevant.

Dogs don't belong on tours period! I really think it might depend upon the individual animal. I had a collie who traveled OK, but he was always more at peace at home, whether or not his people were with him. My Wheaten Terrier, on the other hand, absolutely loves to travel, and "home" to him is wherever his family is. He is 10 now, but when he was just a couple years old, we had a major house fire and had to temporarily relocate to a rental home for 6 months. My pup barely missed a beat. He had a couple mopey days in the interim suite hotel at which we were put up while we searched for an available rental, but I think that had more to do with the fact that we were all on edge having just lost the contents of our house down to our socks! After a day or two, he was happy as could be just being with us no matter where we landed. Hard to tell just from pictures, lol, but Adam and Pharaoh appear to be so bonded that separation might be more stressful for the pup than a travel adventure.

Adam is recording with Nile Rodgers!! I so approve!! Woohoo!!! Shady (along with Runnin') is tied for may favorite Adam song! It's such a cool vibe! I couldn't be more thrilled. Plus, it's apparent that Nile works with who he deems as the best, and since he's an icon in his own right who has worked with other such icons as David Bowie, I take this as validation for all of us who think Adam is in the all-star league in today's pop music world. I have also loved their live performances; there's an energy Adam and Nile create together that is very special. It's at the same level as the energy Adam and Queen achieve, yet somehow very different since the genres differ somewhat.

I guess I am in the minority on the halftime show -- I loved the drones, I thought the show was boring and did not like the choreography or staging. Her last couple tours were better. This was kind of flat. I am a Gaga fan and disappointed. I would have preferred she just do a bit version of her concerts -- like Katy Perry did. All I could think when she did the arials was -- "she's no Pink> (who could probably do a great halftime show.) I entirely agree! She has a beautiful voice and did great vocally, but the show itself was just meh, IMO. I was really hoping Tony Bennett would come out to liven things up a bit, lol. The drones were cool, though, and maybe it was one of those performances that impressed more in person. It may also be that she has traditionally been so out-there with her performances that anything remotely mainstream seemed lacking. At any rate, I certainly can't deny that she is supremely talented.

So he went to see LaLaLand at the movies today...and was in Santa Monica. Out and about. I didn't know anything about this movie.....checked out their Twitter account. Looks like a fun movie! I see John Legend has a role in this movie as well as sings some tunes. I just saw LaLa Land over the weekend. It's a very sweet, but also very bittersweet story about the sacrifices people make when assuming their personal dreams. Interestingly, throughout it all, I couldn't stop thinking about my perception of what happened between Adam and Sauli; right or wrong, my take was that they both had career aspirations in their respective countries that made long-term co-habitation an impossibility. Again, I don't pretend to actually know them, but that's the feeling I got when they ended on such an amicable note.

"I end with a question - do you really just want Adam to be wildly popular? If he put our a country album and it was #1 with lots of #1 hits, would you be happy? Of he could do an album of Christmas covers? Or do standards like Michael Buble. (Country music is the #1 genre in the US, Urban is #2, Pop is #4 in sales) I would not be happy, and I am sure Adam would not be happy either. There is more to success than just getting on the radio and selling a lot of albums/track. There are loads of artists who had a few bit hits then faded away. Adam is still here, and making a lot of money, and recognized as a great vocalist and performer, and working on his 4th solo album."
Thank you, Q3, for putting into words my exact feelings on Adam's progress since Idol. I am so thrilled with how successful he has been and the fact that he has achieved that longevity for which he said he thrived. He's stuck it out in the industry and has garnered tons of praise and respect, not just from his fans, but also from many industry greats. Adam is a worldwide star, just like we all hoped he'd become. There are many ways to become a star and many levels of stardom. Fine, he's not as commercially successful as some, but he has managed to stay relevant in a really tough market. I'm a proud fan!

Every time during the "Adam's charting" discussion the idea of "he needs a great song" gets mentioned and every time I see it I think "but what does this mean?"... Are the top charting songs "great"? By what criteria? What makes them great aside from the fact they've charted high? sort of catch 22 ain't it? I am totally convinced that Adam's songs are not any less great than those on the top. By any technical criteria they ARE great: they are written and produced by the top teams and they are performed better than any... I am so happy streaming is here and radio with it's politics and back room deals is loosing its importance. (There is a problem of artist's compensation of course but that's a different discussion). ITA with all of this, and they'll (whoever "they" are, lol) figure out the compensation. He's doing so well that radio clearly isn't the only means to the end. I was a huuuuggge pop and rock radio listener back in the day; now I only listen to occasional pop or rock stations and mostly news talk stations. I got older, which stinks, but that's not the reason for my switch. Music still guides me, but the selectivity and repetitiveness of radio music is so awful that I'm better off listening to the news (although that's freaking scary, too, lol) my own Ipod playlist or Sirius. Who needs radio these days? Clearly not Adam, who is thriving, having fun and sticking it out in a hard business without a lot of presence on it!

Well, you win some, you lose some. As far as Adam is concerned, the win with Isaiah was particularly huge because Adam was there nearly every step of the way. Being second worked out supremely for Adam, so, if it's in the stars for Saara, she'll continue to shine post-X-Factor on her own merit. What a duet they had, though! She sang beautifully, and he was his usual out-of-this-world, amazing, generous self!
