To be fair, ABC probably canceled Adam due to gesture's not seen during rehearsal. If Adam had cleared what he wanted to do with ABC first, I'm sure it would be no scandal. Lil Nas' kiss was planned and the TV director PURPOSELY cut to a close-up shot to make sure everyone sees the kiss. Madonna's kiss with Britney and Christina were also planned as well. Adam has freely admitted it was problematic that the most controversial moves - simulating oral sex with the dancer and kissing Tommy - were not included in the rehearsal. But let's be real...Adam actually did ABC a favor, in a way. If he'd included those acts in the rehearsal, ABC would have been put in the position of either having to censor him, or having to defend its decision to allow him to do those things when the shit hit the fan. And make no mistake, the shit would have still hit the fan. Those who were offended didn't care whether he kissed Tommy in rehearsal or not, they just cared that he did it when they were watching. This way, ABC had plausible deniability. Even though it spent the entire telecast pimping the SHOCKING performance Adam was about to give, the producers and other PTB could honestly say they didn't know he was going to do the two things that made everyone the most angry. Frankly, I don't know if it would have been that much less objectionable without the oral sex simulation and the kiss, because the whole performance was very homoerotic and aggressive even without them. But we'll never know. I was so impressed with Adam's honesty and candor in that Billboard interview. I especially love that he admitted he would have been jealous if LilNasX's performance had been more closely on the heels of his AMA performance. That was such a human thing for him to admit. That he's able to appreciate and admire what LilNasX is doing now without constantly whining about how he was treated after the AMAs speaks so highly of his maturity. I do think he recognizes that the AMA performance came at the wrong time, both in his career and for society in general. His run on Idol was awesome, but it didn't give him the industry cred that a monster hit like Old Town Road gave LilNasX. He just didn't have the track record and the clout to take that kind of chance. But it was such an "Adam thing" for him to do. I'd love to know if his team tried to encourage him to tone it down. I really don't think they had any more of an idea of how to handle his industry launch than he did, which was a problem in and of itself. Thankfully he's in a good place now. And let’s be honest it was a double standard. As Britney abs Madonna had an improtu Kiss. No scandal. Rehearsed or not. That’s kinda the point. ABC wouldent allow it. So the bigotry and homophobia does gets reinforced. And yes your right. It was a huge calculated risk. The AMAS. But I’m so glad he did. He stepped out of the idol bubble. And became Adam Lambert. But onto the future.

I'm very glad he was included. However, he didn't impact gay acceptance "simply because he was on a mainstream television show." That's BS and diminishes everything he did, both on the show and off it, to benefit the LGBTQ community. The season before Adam's, there were two gay contestants in the voting rounds - one of whom was very obviously gay, even if he didn't say anything to that effect - and neither of them ushered in anything because they didn't capture the attention of the audience and the media. Adam did, in spades, and followed it up by walking the walk and talking the talk in his post-Idol career, sometimes to his detriment. I probably shouldn't Post While Cranky, but geez. LOL!!!! I agree 100%. I was thrilled to see Adam included but there was so much more to him. There were gay contestants on the show before and after him but none captured the attention of the public or media the way that Adam did. And it wasn't all about his sexuality. But he sure helped to make many more accepting of the LGBT community because of who he was and the fact that he did not hide. He stood proudly before and after the show and he was pretty much on his own. I remember when the lead singer from Judas Priest said thank gawd for Adam Lambert. He saw Adam doing what he was unable to do early in his career. I think that Adam does not always get the deserved credit because many (gay and straight) want to forget how he was treated and the part they played in that treatment. Their had been LGBT artists on idol and within the industry before. But none like Adam. He literally kicked the door down with unbridled, and utter self confidence in who he is. As a straight male. I could figure he was gay. I mean you couldn’t tell? Lol. I didn’t care. And couldn’t coming from NZ which is comparatively more liberal you could argue on this issue. Why it mattered. But alas. The reason why Mainstream America is more open minded about what’s his name Li? Is the impact Adam made. Kinda like Freddie. Unashamedly himself. He walked through fire. So LGBT artists today could fly.

Rewatched THE QAL story documentary on Netflix. Because it’s so good. But anyone get struck when Adams like “because the stakes were so high for me”. I always assumed he was talking about the Freddie disclaimer etc. But wonder deeper then that. His solo career was kinda in free fall zone. I wonder if Queen was a calculated risk. That obviously payed off. It’s also amazing when they talk about How Freddie could do it all. Like in the 1992 tribute show. They had to get the most famous music artists to do one show. As no one had that diverse range like Freddie. And barring a miracle. No one would ever. Then Adam walked in.

I’ve recently been watching Adams season of American idol. Nostalgia hit haha. Crazy I don’t remember any of the other contestants performances mostly. But watching the top 5. Anyone remember when Adam was in the bottom two? Started thinking imagine if he went home that night. They wasted a save on Matt Giraud. Spike Edney said the next week when he sang WLL he saw him. Passed him on to Roger. Of course if Adam gets eliminated week earlier. He never performs WLL. Never performs with Queen in the finalie. Not only QAL. But maybe the whole Glambert thing is vastly different today. Must of been fate .

Ha funny was in a supermarket today. And this song was playing. Arguably Adams most underrated song. And probably creatively his best ever MV. youtu.be/u3dkVk3F57c

Bit quiet in Planet Fierce atm. Wit COVID and the next QAL tour a whole way. Feels like a long time ago Adam was performing. Did I hear he is going to be a judge on a reboot of Stars in your eyes? That’s nice. Hey, you, how are you doing? Just read about the massive earthquakes your way. Hope all is well with you. It's nice to see you. And yes, it's been quiet around here. Cheers. Yes earthquake was scary. We also leave lockdown this Sunday. So that’s good. I know it’s worser in the states though.
