YIPPIE!
I love your dream, and loved meeting you in 'Real Life', too!
May it happen, again, soon! I just adore this place . . . we always come to the rescue!

Murly!
Thank you. So beautiful.
Almost 40 years ago, my husband and I spent the meager savings we had on a piece of property. We came out, day after day, to 'tame the land' - cut down scrub oak, fight our way through weeds and ticks and nettles. Eventually, we built a home which, for a long time, lacked flooring, a full bathroom, and an exit from the front door. We met the neighbor across the little dirt road, who brought us watermelon and lemonade on a sweltering August day, as DH sat on an oak stump, repairing the chain saw. I looked after our little boy and our errant, mongrel dog.
Fifteen years ago on February 27, this neighbor died. We shared almost a quarter of a century with Ran & Marsh, across the driveway. He and Marsh, his love - our love! - became part of our family. They held my youngest son at his birth; even before I did. With us, they celebrated every birthday, graduation, recital, baseball game, soccer tournament, report card, 'first day', Christmas, Thanksgiving; from days where my boys slid their 'Big Wheels' through their carefully tended gardens, to the day where my 16-year-old help park cars at Marsh's memorial service. Ran & Marsh were closer to our family than the grandparents.
When Ran was dying, he asked me to bring him some things from his jewelry box. I opened this box, and there, taped inside the top, was a picture of my son, Micah. Ran told me of the special connection he had with Micah. As he talked about my son I misunderstood him for a moment, because he corrected me. He said, "I didn't say I wished for a son like Micah. I wish Micah had been my son." Ran said he regretted that by living his life honestly, it met he could never 'have a family'. Even today, it makes me cry, remembering how this magnificent human being; a college president and doctor of education, was unable to fulfill a basic yearning and dream. My family was his family. But I know the reality. He was denied.
We've just returned from a visit with Micah, this boy of mine; and his beautiful wife and little girls. We spent Penelope's second birthday with them, yesterday. A few of you may remember my struggle, two years ago, when Penelope was born, and then became so very sick.
I guess it's just a thought, my thought, that it is universally meaningful that Penelope was born on an anniversary of Ran's goodbye. I know they are connected.
I'm so glad that the couple in the article Murly sent to us found their son. Ran & Marsh helped me raise four boys. They raised me, too. And, the precious DH you've heard about grew in confidence and stature within their influence.
The world won't know about Ran & Marsh. I promise you, though, they were as enlightening, vivacious, splendid, caring, intelligent, loving, spontaneous, artistic, and creative as Adam and Sauli.
They kept it lively and real. And connected. They taught my family about life and love by merely being who they were; just like we are being who we are. We continue to learn from them.
Ran & Marsh must be swirling above.
It's not lost on me that February 27th was also the day I first saw Adam, three years ago, at Fantasy Springs.

Have we already moved on from the banana??? Just got home and saw the vids!! And the other 'Banana' songs. I have one more, but it will date me!! Don't fucking care!! During my hippie years, a song wafted through the airwaves called "Mellow Yellow". Believe it or not, the odor of smoked banana peels mingled with Mary. A portion of the lyrics say: "Electrical banana It's gonna be a sudden craze Electrical banana It's bound to be the very next phase They call it Mellow Yellow, quite rightly . . . "

Ah, Aleks! You have the 'buns' down! Comfy is the word.
I got 100 on the quiz, too. Being real . . . they were purty easy questions! I mean - we all know Adam's birthday and middle name and San Diego by now, right? I had to guess about the WWFM video. Same with season number. There were no nitty gritty questions! The stuff we save and archive and treasure! Surely, we are underestimated.
I have nothing but thanks and gratitude for everyone who has brought photos and video here from Japan and Seoul. I still get teary-eyed thinking of AFL, sitting on a stair, listening to the Seoul Glamberts singing his songs; they, not wanting to leave the venue; not wanting the experience to end.
Oh, I've been there. I can't wait to be there, again.

Buns are buns . . . mostly hot, like AFL's!
When describing one's buttocks as 'buns'; I think that 'hotness' is in the very description. But . . . (butt! Ha! Another description . . . I'm regressing into 4-year-old-land) this is just my take on supple, full, round, firm yet pliable, symmetrical, sweet, toned backsides that might appear to be delicious (like scones, hot-cross buns, or even plump biscuits).
Definitely not 'bun' like a hairdo. Ouch!

I come from a family of musicians and performers. From banjo virtuosos to Metropolitan Opera finalists; pianists to poets, authors, musical theatre . . . so . . .
I have to laugh at myself! I don't have a clue as to what Adam or Rhianna are really feeling when they perform "Stay". Adam has a way of creating nuance in his voice; with his intensity, with his clarity, his ringing, vulnerable tone; his ability to sing quietly with resonance. His breath support is astounding. You hardly see him inhale, but his very being is filled with the air that will support the sound, roundness, shining crispness, gentleness and quality that is his voice. Thus, his vocal sensitivity and emotion can convey feeling in a way unlike most singers will ever know.
Adam has the greatest vocal gift. He has the breath support that allows him to play with the emotions evoked in music. He can break his own heart with his voice.

Hello! I think I posted on this part of the thread just once, about 2 years ago . . . but I want to share with you this little exercise plan I've started! I'm terrible at sticking to a program; but I hope the added musical incentive will inspire me.
What's neat is that you can do this while you listen to the 7-minute version of "Stay/Underneath" from Seoul or Tokyo!
Way back in 2011 I cut out an article called "The 7-Minute Solution" from my weekend newspaper. It's called the 'flat-ab workout for men and women'.
I'll describe each position, which you attempt to hold for 1 minute, before moving to the next. I've timed the music to let you know when to 'switch'.
Minute 1: PLANK Lie on your stomach and come up onto your forearms and knees. Straight back. More advanced exercisers - come onto your toes. Your elbows should be bent directly under your shoulders. Weight should be on your knees and bent elbows. Hold this position for one minute. Music: 1 minute ends at the end of the first 'around and around and around and around we go ..."
Minute 2: SIDE PLANK Lie on your right side with your legs stacked on top of each other. Bend your right knee for support and push up on your right elbow, lifting your hip up off the floor in a straight line from knee to shoulder. Hold for one minute. Music: this minute ends at the end of the second 'around and around and around we go ..."
Minute 3: OTHER SIDE PLANK Turn over to your left side; legs stacked on top of each other. Bend your left knee for support and push up on your left elbow, lifting your hip up off the floor in a straight line. Hold for one minute. Music: this minute ends after Adam sings " ... I'm the only one who needed saving"
Minute 4: CRUNCH Quickly, change position to lie on your back, knees bent, feet flat on floor, hands behind your head for support. Exhale as you lift your shoulder blades off the floor. Don't worry about how high you come up; it's more important to hold your stomach in as deeply as you can. Hold for one minute. Music: Hold until the 'OOOs' at the start of 'Underneath'
Minute 5: BICYCLE Come to crunch position but with feet and shoulder blades lifted off the floor. Rotate your left shoulder toward your right knee as you pull the knee into your chest and extend your left leg. Switch to right shoulder and left knee; repeat for one minute. Music: Continue until the end of the phrase "still not that easy for me, Underneath"
Minute 6: SUPERMAN (I like this one!) Turn facedown and extend arms straight out in front of you; legs straight behind you. With forehead an inch off the floor, lift the opposite arm and leg (i.e. left arm, right leg) and hold. Alternate sides, repeating for one minute. Music: Minute ends with the phrase "you inside of me"
Minute 7: STRETCH Still lying face down, bring your hands underneath (!) your shoulders, right at your armpits. Lift your shoulders halfway up. You should feel the stretch in your abs. Hold, relax, repeat for one minute - until the music finishes to applause for you!
I've done this a couple of times a day, for only a couple of days . . . so I don't see a real 'difference' in my ampleness yet! But I do feel the work my muscles are doing, and it's amazing how much longer Adam's performance feels when I'm trying to hold a pose!
I have a terrible time with exercise routines, especially when I do them alone. With Adam filling the room, this is quick, I feel like I've done something healthy, and I hear the most beautiful voice in the Universe as I grunt and writhe! My reward comes to me as I exercise.
Enough for now. Think I may be off to check out a 'fitbit'.
