Whose idea was it to release it now? Whoever it is, they are brilliant! It's a total smash. I know many of the behind the scenes team (the Archivist for one) have been pushing them to release something from the 70s FOREVER. For whatever reason other projects came up, and they were shelved. A different concert (Hammersmith 1975) was talked about while QAL was in Hammersmith in 2012 but again disappeared for unknown reasons. BUT Queen also likes anniversaries now and 2014 being the 40th anniversary of these shows, I'm betting the behind the scenes team were able to put the right argument together that now was the time! Thanking them profusely! Totally! It's amazing and I've only scratched the surface! They are sublime. Best band to ever walk the face of this earth.

I try to keep the purely Queen things in the Queen thread but I know a number of you have preordered Live at the Rainbow 74....Mine shipped today (I got the deluxe set) but then I realized that I could get the discs on Autorip from Amazon........Well I couldn't wait. I'm almost done with Disc 1...March 1974 gig. I am in love. Just in love. The best Queen release since 1995. Just wow. White Queen...ahhhhhhhh....Great King Rat, Jailhouse Rock...just so good and a band at their rawest and hungriest. Just so good. Ok continue I am partway thru and it is great so far! I can't believe they had this sitting around for 40 years> Whose idea was it to release it now? Whoever it is, they are brilliant! It's a total smash.

Haha thanks! That is very helpful! Unfortunately, I see BMWs constantly but I will keep an eye out for gray ones.

I am off so I know what I will be doing that day. I saw the half hour preview the other day and I was blown away. I can't wait to see the rest. My brother texted me the other night and all he said was "holy shit it's good." I totally agree! What an amazing restore; it's spectacular.

Thanks for the BTM clips from earlier today. Just watched; good stuff! Now I have a little more insight than I had before. I just gotta say he has really grown up and matured in a few short years.

I was driving home from work today through West Hollywood, as I do every day, thinking that someday, I'm going to pass by Adam in his car, he's going to pass by me, or he's going to cut me off, since that seems to be a common trend with people in sportier cars, LOL. No matter what, it hit me yet again that it's strange living in this city with all these celebrities, most of whom I could give a rat's ass about, with the exception of a small few. So close, yet so far... Adam has a sedan, so not very sporty! But Yes, bet you do "run" into him someday! You need to make a stop at that Bristol Farms, on Sunset, someday on your way home! A sedan? Too funny! I know exactly where that Bristol Farms is, LOL.

This was brought up elsewhere. I wonder what the budget was for this tour, including set design, lighting, clothing, personnel, etc. It had to have been ridiculous. Mucho props to Jim Beach and everyone else for making it happen. It was ridiculously spectacular.

Yeah I get that. For being older, those guys, especially Brian, are super busy beyond Queen. Dr. Bri has his hands in like 25 different things at once, so maybe new stuff is not on the horizon. I guess time will tell. If it is meant to be, it will be. Maybe I am just Pollyanna but I can't imagine Brian especially not salivating about a chance to write for a voice he loves and knows so well now. For me, this tour reopened the possibility to create and Queen has such creative spirit. A3 is the potato on the table but I think we might see Dr Bri/Adam new music down the road. Brian has that voice in his head. It is a magical and addictive voice. I don't think he can let it just go off into the sunset when he has a chance to help immortalize it. I totally agree with you. He (and Roger) have such love and respect for Adam and the feeling is mutual. I can't even imagine how amazing new stuff could be. They may be older agewise, but their creative juices seem to be bringing them back to a youthfulness that they probably thought was gone. I'm in awe of all three of them, truly. It brings tears to my eyes. No matter what happens, they are friends forever.

Great review! So since I'm new here, what is the consensus on possible new material down the road from QAL? Yay or nay? I, for one, would LOVE a new QAL album. I think it would sound epic. I almost wish they were doing it right now while the iron is hot off of the QAL Tour Part #1, so it could be ready for QAL Tour Part duex. (In my dreams, the 1st single would be entitled "Phoenix Rising" - make it so, Bri !! ) That said, I want A3 as well, so torn person here. I think it would be epic too. They would not put out anything mediocre; it just would not be an option. Honestly though, I can wait a bit. Adam needs to finish A3 and see what happens from there. I truly think that whenever they pickup and regroup, no matter in what capacity, the iron will still be hot. This summer will stay fresh in people's minds for a very long time, even in our world where our attention spans are about 3 seconds. They were the talk of the summer and other than McCartney and Beyonce/Jay-Z, were the only tour that people were talking about, at least from my perspective. It left such a positive vibe that people won't forget, or maybe I'm just wishful thinking.
