kryptoman68 A souped up player piano! LOL Actually I wrote that comment before I watched the video. That KORG explains how five people can make so much complicated music while playing live!! I have wondered about that. And that was 2012. I expect he has upgraded since then! happy Yes, I had posted the link inside the previous post with the short video of receiving the new keyboard before the current tour... Here it is again: www.instagram.com/p/CyhcwmbM2uC/

kryptoman68 I missed your first post, so thanks for bringing it over to this thread. I can see why that sound caught your attention. I don't know much about music but I guess Spike is playing arpeggios. The high tinkling makes me think of a glass harmonica. I suspect that Spike is not really playing the actual arpeggios with his fingers, but has the keyboard programmed to do them when he plays the chord. If I am not mistaken, he recently posted a video of receiving the delivery of the latest KORG Nautilus model. (Edit: here it is) However even his previous KORG KRONOS he used since the beginning of QAL could do that already. Here is a video from the first 2012 QAL tour that is eye and ear-opening: youtu.be/bOKgS1G6riwNow watch around time code 1:30. Spike plays a bit of TSMGO, then goes into the IWTBF, and demonstrates the arpeggio feature! So he just holds down the chord, and the keyboard does the rest for him. ...Machines!...

Just a quick note that I posted a little audio file to illustrate the difference between TSMGO in the latest tour vs. previous performances for those who could not hear it here: adamtopia.com/post/1022278/threadIt contains mostly the guitar and keyboard track with the majority of vocals, drums, and bass removed. It plays the Live Around The World version first, then the San Francisco #2 concert recording captured from a YouTube video. Thanks kryptoman68 for going to all the trouble to show the comparison! I missed your reply in the previous post. It is much easier to hear it when listening side-by-side like this. It sounds fuller to my ears.. not sure if I'm describing it well.
About the riffing, I noticed that Brian no longer responds to Adam's individual riffs like he used to during this tour, but only joins in at the very end just before they all start singing the harmonies. Maybe it's a way for Brian to get a little break or it allows Adam to go on a longer woven riff without having to break them up. Thoughts?I think Adam found a specific sequence this leg of the tour that does not require a "duet" with the guitar to be effective. It also has some middle-eastern patterns that, given the current world situation, probably fit well with the general tone of the show Brian intended. My guess is that you are partially right that it gives Brian a bit of a break, but it also lets Adam shine. Knowing Brian's good nature, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the main reason...

During the SF #2 concert on the 9th, I noticed something that I had not registered while watching all the previous shows' videos. In TSMGO when the "My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies" bridge starts, Spike is now playing a very delightful, ringing rolling sequence of notes (an arpeggio) which was extremely obvious live, but is somewhat lost when recorded. Thanks for sharing, but I'm afraid these nuances are lost on me. My ears are more attuned to Adam's vocals, though not necessarily the lyric accuracy 😉. I do remember though that Spike plays a bit in the beginning of a song that sounded different, but I'm not really hearing that differences in the middle of the song with everything else going on.. I decided to run that part of the audio through a Splitter AI which separates Vocals, Drums, Bass, and Music (including guitar and synth). I disabled all but the Music channel, and saved an audio file which first plays the version from the Live Around The World album, and then continues with the live audio from San Francisco #2. Take a listen and let me know if you can hear the difference: adamfullcircle.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/stuff/TSMGO_Comparison_LATW_SFO2.m4aIn the older version, you can hear mainly Brian's guitar. In the new version, you should hear both the guitar doing the exact same thing, and the keyboard enriching the soundscape with a ringing up and down sequence of notes. Unfortunately, like with Adam's voice, the recording does not compare to hearing it live - it blew my mind when I heard it. On another funny note, when I was splitting the instruments, the Vocal track which was supposed to contain only Adam's voice also included some passages of Brian's Red Special. During the concert I thought that one of the reasons Adam fits so well with Queen (beyond all other reasons we are well aware of) is that his tonal quality is very complementary to the sound of the guitar - this has always been illustrated by the riffs before IWIA, esp. back when Brian tried to keep up with Adam's improvisations. Seems the AI also thinks that the guitar is a voice! ...Machines!...

Also very comical how Adam "forgot his duties" to sing the line "So forget all your duties oh yeah"

I just rode the train with her I snapped a picture of her sitting on the train, but it would have been a violation of privacy if I would have posted her picture here as we did not talk and she was not aware I was taking pictures. Unfortunately Brian did not wear that costume that particular night, so most concertgoers would have been puzzled by this outfit of hers... My wife was also puzzled by my picture of random people sitting on a train until I explained why I took it.

In TSMGO when the "My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies" bridge starts, Spike is now playing a very delightful, ringing rolling sequence of notes (an arpeggio) which was extremely obvious live, but is somewhat lost when recorded. You can hear it in every concert of the current tour, for example San Francisco #2: youtu.be/mg8_9bDIMNs?t=171or Chicago: youtu.be/H5h-_-ercnk?t=171Here is the first show of the 2019 leg in Vancouver (which I went to): youtu.be/d441l1uGqJY?t=157The Live Around The World recording from 2018, while having a better quality sound, does not seem to feature that rolling sequence, although it feels like it is almost there in the beginning, but then the guitar takes over: youtu.be/nSkHHoYxok0?t=171' (I also checked the clearer sound on Spotify) Finally I listened to the original music video and it is not there either... youtu.be/t99KH0TR-J4?t=174So I guess this is a new addition to the performance. My ears perked up when I heard it, because it was so unexpected - I thought I knew every detail of that song. And of course the addition of the actual butterflies on the screen this time around was a great idea too! This is something I forgot to mention in my original report, it was a pleasant surprise to me and I wanted to share.

Thanks everybody for the get well wishes and comments! I am still in San Francisco doing all the touristy things like visiting the botanical garden and riding the noisy cable car to remind myself how comfortable and quiet modern transportation is... I am chatting daily with the family and my DD is feeling a bit better. I just noticed another lyrics fail that I did not fully catch during the concert (or forgot about it too quickly to register in my long term memory). In TSMGO, instead of "Does anybody know what we are looking for" he goes for "Does anybody want..." and then recovers quickly, so it is not "know", but not quite "want" either. Around 35 seconds into this video: youtu.be/mg8_9bDIMNs?t=33
