If Adam is not going to be an Idol judge, fine, the buzz was great. But Nigel Lythgoe's tweet was absurd and offensive. There is no such thing as personal Twitter. Unless you lock your account. Twitter is a microblog service. Every tweet is a 140 character blog. It's 100% public. If you're famous, and you're on Twitter it is not personal, it's PR. Fans tweeting public figures is not just 100% okay, it's encouraged. Idol tries to get things trending with every show. It doesn't matter what the fans said, fans are the audience. Nigel should be embracing them. Tweeting Nigel about the show is exactly the same as writing a letter was back in the day. Or flooding the switchboard. (Gee, remember the AMA phone call deluge...the trickle heard round the world.) So if thousands of Adam's million and half followers tweeted their opinion to the producer of a show that actually encourages audience voting, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. And Nigel is, IMHO, an idiot. Dissing Adam's fans for doing a fine thing and getting involved with and caring about the future of Idol is not a way to increase viewership. THANK YOU! I'm so sick of seeing Adam fans scolded for their enthusiasm. If Nigel doesn't want to hear from the public, he should get the hell off Twitter.
I would seriously like to see this forum and this fandom spend a little less time criticizing its own. Not a day goes by lately that someone does not denigrate "OTT" fans....even to the point of defending passive aggressive nasties like Nigel or name calling like "limp-wristed". If a fan agrees with these outsiders, it seems reasonable to just say that minus the commentary on other fans. If not...say that too. But I find it really uncomfortable and sad when I see fans agreeing and then calling down other fans that disagree with you...that just makes for hard feelings and board exodus. We all love Adam...just not all exactly the same way...

Nigel Lythgoe @dizzyfeet RT @pvtarga: @dizzyfeet We just wanted to show our support for Adam and Idol! Sorry [NO PROBLEM.OVER 300 TWEETS GOT YOUR POINT ACROSS ] I like that Nigel added the smile. ---- About the complaint -- I think it was because someone started a campaign for Adam fans to Tweet -- #AdamOnIdol @dizzyfeet and @foxbroadcasting, we want @adamlambert as a judge on @americanidol! He is the best for the show! #AdamOnIdol And rather then try to trend it, they tweeted them to Nigel -- and there are a lot of them. I think instead of complaining with his first twitter.. Nigel could just tweeted the above to Adam fans.. something like "Adam fans you get your point accross, now lets wait till the selection team done with their work" LOL I agree. He could have just recognized that he got the tweets and asked fans to stop tweeting him. But he was quite nasty. And he stirred up all the Adam haters on Twitter -- some of my "favs" are Tweeting him about not making Adam Lambert a judge. The net results is that he is still getting tons of tweets about Adam. ETA: When is the last time we saw Adam travel alone through an airport?
