Nigel Lythgoe @dizzyfeet I am not impressed by Adam's fans cluttering my 'personal' twitter site with their request for Adam to be a judge on #IDOL. It doesn't help. Well, as usual, I'm not impressed by Nigel. He's full of it and talking out of both sides of his mouth, also as usual. Because, yeah, right, it's a horrible thing if a show declining in the ratings gets a judge who garners media attention and a passionate fanbase who will watch the show. The HORROR of all of that attention when you're in the entertainment industry because as we all know, the key to success in that business is crickets chirping. Moreover, if he doesn't want the public tweeting his so-called personal twitter, then it should be locked down so it's actually private. If he doesn't want passionate fanbases talking to him, then he should be an invisible producer or get off of Idol entirely since the point of Idol sob story-based arcs is to create passionate fanbases who are invested enough to vote (thereby making AT&T happy). In addition he's happy enough to give interviews and works on making himself a celebrity, so hearing from fans is a consequence of his own creation. Too bad it's not a full house for FS. What is it, 70-75% sold? Well, that's way better than doing a concert in your living room this week. |

The way I figured it, he never had more time than 5-6 songs anyway. In reviewing their tweets: They were asked the day before how long his set was and they didn't answer - they only said Demi was 90 minutes. Yesterday they tweeted he should start around 8:05 and it looks like he started at 8:15. They tweeted Demi starts around 9:00 and running 90 minutes and the show is over at 10:15. So that doesn’t even make sense. That means she has 1 hr 15 minutes for her 90 min set. Going from this board it seems he stopped at 8:50. So are they saying he chopped 10 minutes off his set and she was going to run late or that there is no time in between the two for stage changes? They also tweeted Karmin was running late in traffic. And she tweeted: “Racing to Sacramento to perform at #Endfest! By golly, we'll be there to rock your faces! What a day...” They also first said "he" said he was sick then changed it to "they told us". They? LOL radio ugh. I think it blew up bigger than they expected first, by even stating Adam was cutting his set short, then by claiming he said he was sick LOL. First time in hundreds of shows and he's going to cut two songs out? I doubt it. I think the question would be what time the first act started but I have no idea about that. OOPSIE>..wasn't trying to start any trouble with Endfest. I honestly thought I read somewhere Adam had a 20 minute set. But onto Fantasy Springs, hoping Adam is 'Feelin' Good' and a romping great time for all!!  Oh I don't think you started any trouble with them. That all happened on Twitter haha. |

How embarrassing and how hurtful for Adam. why.why.why. ??? >:( Well, I'm not on twitter, I don't "do" twitter, etc. etc. But I would guess the people who tweeted him were excited and wanted to show support for the idea of Adam judging. They (wrongly) assumed Nigel might give a shit. Now they know he doesn't and that he's offended by lowly fans tweeting him. I thought Nigel was unnecessarily rude. It's twitter FFS not his personal home phone. I do NOT think Adam is in the running now because if he were, then Nigel would see those fans as potential future AI fans TOO and say something more along the lines of - "thanks for your interest, but I'd appreciate it if fans not tweet me about their faves. You'll know when I know - or soon after." |

If Adam is not going to be an Idol judge, fine, the buzz was great. But Nigel Lythgoe's tweet was absurd and offensive. There is no such thing as personal Twitter. Unless you lock your account. Twitter is a microblog service. Every tweet is a 140 character blog. It's 100% public. If you're famous, and you're on Twitter it is not personal, it's PR. Fans tweeting public figures is not just 100% okay, it's encouraged. Idol tries to get things trending with every show. It doesn't matter what the fans said, fans are the audience. Nigel should be embracing them. Tweeting Nigel about the show is exactly the same as writing a letter was back in the day. Or flooding the switchboard. (Gee, remember the AMA phone call deluge...the trickle heard round the world.) So if thousands of Adam's million and half followers tweeted their opinion to the producer of a show that actually encourages audience voting, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. And Nigel is, IMHO, an idiot. Dissing Adam's fans for doing a fine thing and getting involved with and caring about the future of Idol is not a way to increase viewership. I follow Idol every season and have done so for years. Nigel has tweeted unprofessional comments to Idol fans on a regular basis every year since he has had a twitter account. He does the same to SYTYCD fans. Nigel is just an ass, always has been...always will be!  |
