OT and posted this on the Queen thread but in honor of Brian May's birthday on 7/19/12 I would like to post this here.
This really chocked me up...I wonder if she was in Ukraine or one of London shows to watch her Dad.

Oh Catz --- have a great time and dance a bit for me!! Will wiggle my ass off to the best of my ability and do my darndest for you Q3 ;D The fabulous GrandDuchess is on her way over to pick me up and drive me across the road to FS. Sounds pathetic I know, but I have NEVER experienced heat like this before. It is a killer to be honest (118F apparently at 6.00pm  ). She and I had the BESTEST 4.5 hour drive from LAX yesterday afternoon. From instant, never met you before strange person, hugs to non-stop gas-bagging the whole frickin way. The like mindedness and instant connections that happen in this fandom are a thing of beauty - they really are #weareblessed Ooops, gotta go *blows kisses* |

If Adam is not going to be an Idol judge, fine, the buzz was great.
But Nigel Lythgoe's tweet was absurd and offensive. There is no such thing as personal Twitter. Unless you lock your account.
Twitter is a microblog service. Every tweet is a 140 character blog. It's 100% public. If you're famous, and you're on Twitter it is not personal, it's PR.
Fans tweeting public figures is not just 100% okay, it's encouraged. Idol tries to get things trending with every show. It doesn't matter what the fans said, fans are the audience. Nigel should be embracing them.
Tweeting Nigel about the show is exactly the same as writing a letter was back in the day. Or flooding the switchboard. (Gee, remember the AMA phone call deluge...the trickle heard round the world.)
So if thousands of Adam's million and half followers tweeted their opinion to the producer of a show that actually encourages audience voting, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. And Nigel is, IMHO, an idiot. Dissing Adam's fans for doing a fine thing and getting involved with and caring about the future of Idol is not a way to increase viewership.
