Well because they say it's NOT what it is. Brian and Roger are not Queen. Queen is Freddie, Brian, Roger, and John. Without Freddie or John is it disingenuous to call it Queen. PLEASE NOTE - I'm not one who gets in arms with what they call it. To me it's the surviving members of Queen doing the Queen catalogue. So screw it. BUT I do see their point. To some it would be like Adam Lambert's backing band taking James Durbin going out as "The Adam Lambert Band" with James singing Adam's songs. Ok so not QUITE the same but that's as close as I could come to what they are feeling... Maybe they could just call themselves Two Mercenary Old Gits + An American Talent Show Reject Present the Music of Queen. :  I only logged on to say:  |

To some it would be like Adam Lambert's backing band taking James Durbin going out as "The Adam Lambert Band" with James singing Adam's songs. Ok so not QUITE the same but that's as close as I could come to what they are feeling... HAHAHA... not even close. First of all Adam is a solo artist so there's no "The Adam Lambert Band". For me and some fans, we're here for Adam and not for the band member... so they can come and go. ;D ;D |

Well, can't believe my little girl's gonna start Kindergarten this Wed. already! School supplies, checked; sparkly Cinderella backpack, checked; meet the teacher, tomorrow; now, some "Adam Time"... 
I agreed with lifetravler, a total win-win for Adam if it happens, which my hunch is very likely. Adam has hinted at the end of last show in London, "it's over...for now", and all signs are indicating R&B want it too, but there're lots of factors to be taken into serious considerations and planning from both sides before it can actually happen. Like mys*&@^#r said, if it happened, it would NOT be a full-on world tour (R&B's age, scheduling conflicts & other commitments, etc.), most likely a dozen dates in the major worldwide cities.
Adam has been repeatedly stating that Trespassing Tour won't happen till next year, most likely summer time, and my guess is the mini Queen tour would have to happen before then, 'cuz otherwise it kinda defeats the purpose in regards to serving as a huge PR platform for Adam and his own tour (financially too). Trespassing Tour and his own music are his ultimate goals and responsibilities, everything else are side projects which are supposed to help achieve them, while enjoying doing so. Maybe, the Queen mini tour is getting close to concrete and that's the very reason why he's been so giddy lately??? Sorry, I'm not on the team of "he's doomed without the Idol gig"!
Oh, looks like there're no "known" activities planned for Adam between Aug. 11(M&G with Japanese fans) and Aug. 15 (Japan TV appearance), may I suggest a quick promo trip down to Singapore? Singapore might not be a major world music market like Japan but an important one in Asia, and has been a strong supporter of Adam! Maybe, that's where he's going to fill the gap???

I finally have a little story about Trespassing and 3 preteens (all 11 year old girls; one my granddaughter). I was taking them to the mall and my GD saw the CD and told her friends that I'm a big Adam fan. So, I decided to play the dancing songs.
1. Trespassing and Kickin' In - Loved the beat; sounds like Michael Jackson; dancing in their seats.
2. Liked Cuckoo and Pop That Lock next.
On the way home:
1. One friend asked to hear Trespassing again as soon as we got in the car.
2. Their opinion, Adam songs sounded better than the songs on the radio.
3. They were trying to sing along that fast. Also, wanted to play the CD as soon as they got back home.
All 3 like Trespassing the best; but they liked all of the dance songs. My GD wanted the CD since I had 2 in the car. If her mother won't let her keep it; the friend wants it.
RCA are complete fools for not releasing one of Adam's songs first!

Oh and "fuck it it's our legacy to tarnish" is exactly the right response IMHO. They wrote or co-wrote the music, they performed or co-performed the music. Their rights to do what they like with it. I'd say everyone else can pretty much take a seat, enjoy the show or go lock themselves in a darkened room, light some candles and listen to their albums watching replays of wembley slently on the big screen. Oh and this has nothing to do with Adam being front man or not. Felt this way long before Adam was a glint in B&R's eyes. I don't particularly like listening to people sing songs that Adam has performed, but that's got nothing to do with their right to sing them - more that they generally sound like shit by comparison. ;D ;D ;D |

I especially do not see John Deacon's part in all this as he has purposefully and willingly 'left' the band... It just seems awfully small minded and nasty... especially as it is right there on the forum for Brian and Roger to read. At least have the decency to make this sort of conversation private..good grief. Whatever happened to common courtesy... Why don't they start a Freddie Mercury forum, separate from the Queen one and carry on with that stuff over there as it is clear that they are not fans of QUEEN at all.... sorry... I don't disagree with the overall opinion here. BUT at the same time I understand both sides. Queen without Freddie is just NOT the same. Brian is a WORLD class GODlike guitarist and vocalist/Roger is a WORLD class GOD like drummer/vocalist. BUt to have QUEEN you need all 4 parts. Again I don't think they should retire - nor do I *really* care what they call themselves. But I do understand the mindset. I have no other way to try to explain it to be honest. As for John's part. They champion John for retiring rather than carry on with the mockery of using the name. I for one think that is the stupidest part - and don't really understand that part myself. I would rather see it called something like Brian May & Roger Taylor of Queen with Adam Lambert but I realize that's not exactly catchy WHich is why I don't argue with them using the name. |
