Working my way round the world...one post at a time
DAY 3 - MOSCOWRighto then. What shall we do today *yawns* Oooh....I know.... lets go......sightseeeeeeeeeing, do a river cruise and while we’re at it, check out all the stunningly beautiful Metro stations. Cos, you know...we can.
I can no longer remember in which order we did what, but I’m just now realising how damn grateful I am that there is date stamps on the photos, so I can at least tell ~where I was on any given day #seriously

Dawdling down the Moscow river on a sunny Monday afternoon twitpic.com/a33698 The metro stations were like works of art. Sadly, my camera and photo taking skills were not.
The Russian subway system is INCREDIBLE. Efficient to the MAX! There were thousands of people traveling non-stop everywhere (at a great rate of knots I might add) and the trains just clicked into stations like clockwork, never missing a beat, one after t'other. Colour me every shade of impressed. I asked
JanuarySnow approximately how many people traveled through the system on any given day and although she was not totally sure, she thought it was around 10 million people. This is mind boggling to this Kiwi as our total population is just 4 million.
Nica, many moons ago, posted a fabulous YouTube of these stations here. I remember watching it in awe and never for one single moment thought that one day I would actually get to travel around in them and see them for myself.
#It'sAdam'sFault ;D ;D ;D ;D
(keeping Q3 happy here) So after a long day of having to pick my jaw up off the floor repeatedly from seeing so much beauty and splendiferousness architecture, Vesna and I (<<<
crawl hobble) go back to our hotel and get ready to meet up for dinner with our other ‘sistah in arms’ and fellow NZGlitterTribe member @kiwibertling (Karen) and her DH. These two had traveled all the way from Auckland to Moscow for just the one Queenbert concert, but they had also made it a ‘second honeymoon’ trip as well. Dawwww.....
We meet up with
JanuarySnow again, who has put some serious mileage in so far travelling between her home and us, and off we go to find their hotel. It was pretty surreal to suddenly be meeting up with Karen again in the middle of a hotel foyer in Russia, when the last time I saw her was at the NZGlitterTribe’s “Failure to Launch” Trespassing party held back in March in Auckland and only 10 minutes from my home. She is always at all our parties and lunches and a diehard Glambert.
So the usual, OMG’s, OMFG’s and obligatory {{{{HUGS}}}} followed :
and then we were off in search of a restaurant. We bypassed the first place right next door to the hotel because it was deemed ~unsuitable and us Kiwi’s wanted - you know... an ~authentic Russian meal.
Anyhoo....
fucking.miles.later :twist: (and after we realised that we had got out of the tourist zone) we did eventually spy a sign to a place downstairs and underground. It was just as well, because Karen and I were squealing like stabby banshees right then about our sore feet and blisters on blisters thing that we both had going on. Something
PEOPLE WHO DIDN’T HAVE ANY didn’t understand. And yes I’m side eyeing you
vecadam, JanuarySnow and DH!!!!
Our choice turned out well and we had a wonderful meal together. Vesna is wearing a t-shirt with the NZGlitterTribe logo on it.
Three Kiwi gals and a Russian local lass united across the world by a mutual love of a certain Mr. AFL. He really has no idea does he!
So Karen and I limp back to their hotel following in the wake of the
POWER WALKERS striding forth ahead..lol, we have another hugging session, have a squee and a flail that the CONCERT is OMFG just hours away and we head back to our hotel to
pass out sleep.
TOMORROW IS QUEENBERT FOR REALZ!!!!To be continued.... (if anyone is still awake that is
)
