Sorry guys, but after QAL and some Queen fans reactions I have learned something. IMHO she was good enough, and I just don't see the point to compare her singing to male singers. It was just different.

There are many British singers who would have been better with Queen that Jessie J.
I loved Brian's outfit.
So glad they featured Imagine by John Lennon and included Freddie.

The Olympics were great and London did a fabulous job. As smooth as I ever remember. They really did it right.
I am really looking forward to Rio's show!

Brian May didn't get on the stage in any way at all, he just... materialized. 8-) I know. I thought he would appear from behind Freddie screen. They are just so humble, like no one would recognize them. Jesse J. sure made a big entrance. I thought the vocal performance was fine, but I didn't really like the "all about me" showboating. It's why I didn't like Gaga at MTV music awards (I think it was that), when she crawled to the stage to accept an award and then asked "assistants" to help her to the stage to collect the award (I think she was channeling Iggy Pop in a old performance of The Passenger doing that in the 1970s cuz he was so messed up; I really think that was her inspiration--either that or her crazy-ass shoes.) Anyway, I swear I saw Brian giving a look of distaste during the Gaga thing--not to mention being seated directly behind her giant hat/hair (can't remember which). I don't think he appreciated her attitude. Seemed like she used him for that one performance of You and I, and then moved on. This is all speculation again. I also have to give Jesse J. props for handling the pressure well, which may account for the posturing. In order to do that, one would need to get into that real rockstar headspace. (Somehow AL did that *and* remained humble though! Pretty amazing.) |

I really enjoyed the quirkiness of the opening ceremony. I'm going to watch this again, without all the expectations of musical acts just to see the spectacle. |

I am not hating on Jessie J, I like her, just not a good song for her. ETA: At least they did not have Sasha Baron Cohen. |
