My DH and I just had a meal at a local Indian restaurant and we got to talking about our trip to India a number of years ago. I mentioned that I would love to go to Bali and My DH said why Bali and I said well I loved the book,'Eat,Pray Love 'and that the only country that we hadn't visited in the title was Bali. To add, Adam and Sauli went there and then I started to cry over my food. I got a look like I had sooo lost my mind. I think I have . Haha!!! But it's a good loss. He should be happy you are willing to travel. Think of the memories you 2 could have, just like Adam and Sauli. I think Adam and Sauli went to Bora-Bora. Adam went to Bali with the band, before he met Sauli, if I'm not mistaken. I heard from many sources Bali is like paradise...

It's beautiful but certain beaches are already too commercialized, or it's not as beautiful as it used to be. If you decided to go to Bali, make sure to visit Ubud and hope in to Lombok, the island next to Bali. However, I need to clarify a bit though. Bali isn't a country. Bali is one of 5 biggest islands in Indonesia . Also, Adam visited Bali during GNT, so I don't think Sauli was with him .

catzmadam, I'm so sorry to hear about your back problem. I know all too well how miserable that can be. Your Q+AL travelogue has been incredibly entertaining and I'm looking forward to you being well enough to post the next installment. Take good care of you! Does anyone know what's become of soeulmate? No matter how angsty things become around the board, her humor and perfectly chosen gifs make everything better. The last time we saw her was in the very early morning hours of Aug 10th, when she posted this: [looks up...] OMG... IT'S NOT BLOND, IT'S GREY!!!! Surely she wasn't so traumatized by Adam's hair that she went into a severe state of shock...was she?

Bali is both a paradise if you get out of the tourist hordes and also quite a dangerous place. It is the cheap tourist get away for Australia and so is frequented by lots of young stupid people who drink too much do dumb things and die in the process. It is also popular with families and there are some stunning boutique resorts away from the crowds. It also has a zero tolerance view on drugs with very harsh penalties for even the most minor infractions (and a Bali jail is not somewhere you want to be stuck). It is also one of the worlds Al Queda hot spots with a big Muslim population. It can be quite a different place than is depicted in movie EPL. So be careful and get away from the main island would be my travel advice for Bali.

Sauli was also in Bali before he met Adam. I think he was working there (entertaining Finnish tourists).

LOL.. though I haven't been back for decade but I know Bali is a majority Hindu's population (92%).. unless you mix it up with other island ;D. Just like Seattle, whenever you turn around you'll see Starbuck, in Bali whenever you turn around you'll see Hindu's temple en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bali
