When people were wringing hands over Queen/Sonisphere rumors and taking the aforementioned tweet as, "Oh well, that's dead." I kept thinking, "We'll see ..." The thing is, they cannot announce stuff they are not ready to announce. It's not just about him and many times he is legally obligated to not say anything because it is not his news to tell. The organizers decide when it's time and he would have major egg on his face if he leaked before they were ready. And he could be compromised legally. AI has always been extremely secretive in its negotiations, but it loves to float out rumors of everyone and their cat. It always seems like the person they talked about most turns out to be a dodge (like Darren Criss was for X Factor – he was "99% confirmed at one point too). THIS is why I just cannot imagine this whole N. Jonas thing is legit. (Never mind the fact that I think it's a horrendous idea from a business standpoint.) But WHY does he not shut up about it? It's a total violation of every Idol MO in the past. Now, if Idol did not sign him to a confidentiality agreement and even prompted him to "campaign" a little, he gets the PR, they keep AI's name in the press and they didn't have to leak anything. If he does end up getting the job I will be  mainly because the lack of professionalism about the entire thing. |

I prefer to think that Adam is fibbing. To me "lying" is a very strong word. I used to tell my kids that it depends on the intent. People lie to get out of trouble or to get someone else in trouble, etc. People fib because maybe the truth is not their's to tell, or maybe they don't want to hurt someone's feelings. Adam tries to be honest and I'm sure he finds even fibbing difficult.

Yes, susiefierce, I totally agree. Expecting him to always be "honest" with us in this industry is not a reasonable expectation, IMO
ETA: And even what "honest" means is not that black or white. Sometimes he just can't announce things because he is bound by a contract, or giving us information too soon would mess up their launch strategy, etc. It's just how things go. That's why I always take what he says with a sense of pragmatism, although I do believe that fundamentally he is an honest and straightforward person.

Oh, and neither of this means I think he has Idol. I don't know what to think at this point TBH, and I lean towards a "no." But truth is we don't know anything.

Adam tries to be honest and I'm sure he finds even fibbing difficult. I don't think of it as fibbing OR lying. I look at it as honoring an official binding confidentiality agreement/contract. If this requires evasive answers until the time is right, so be it. 8-) |

Guys, I was listening to Ryan Seacrest's show today and shortly before it ended around 2:00 p.m. EST he announced major Jonas brother news tomorrow. Did anyone else hear it or am I losing it?
