Nicki Minaj would be a huge coup for Idol if they did get her. Her audience is the one advertisers value the most -- 18 to 34 year old women who have attended college. (She also has a lot of gay fans.) She is current, talented and a major star. >> She is a much bigger current star than Mariah. Checked Enrique's tour schedule. Nothing is cancelled and he is really booked! What if Halperin's "Idol source" fed her a 1/2 truth to keep the good terms they have, but one flase rumor so she isn't breaking all the news? Yes that's what I was thinking too, since she is always considered as a reliable source. Give her part of the truth only, it would be too weird to give her everything right before the official announcement. I'm just throwing this out there (God knows why cuz I just want to let the AI talk drop and concentrate on the good stuff coming--which will hopefully not be crumbs for the fans). But suppose the "hint" she was given about a "Latin hunk" is Ricky Martin, not Enrique? It would satisfy those (Levine, for one) that called the show homophobic. |

Nikki Minaj IS a real coup for Idol. But she is gonna totally overshadow Mariah. That leaves room for two more males, one of which will probably be Country. You know, if they get NM, they won't need a Jonas to bring in the younger demo. Nikki can play that role. My kids love her. really? I don't know much about NM, but I tried once to watch her on graham Norton show and I couldn't hear clearly what she was saying. I felt she wasn't articulate. She doesn't even need to open her mouth. Her appearance alone---there's no telling what she will be wearing or what color her hair will be---will leave Mariah in the dust. She is very young and fresh, Mariah is going to look stale next to her. |

I do not want to get my AI hopes up even a little bit because coming down is too hard, but this panel looks to be adding up to be very pricey, and a well know country singer can't be cheap either. They might be very open to a cheaper alternative.
Oh dear, I feel a glimmer of hope working its way back into my system.

That "Stupid Hoe" vid was all kinds of funny in a wacky train wreck kind of way. I probably watched it about 10 times because I was all like...  LOL By far more interesting that M or NJ. |
