Yea, Shady is my favorite song from TP - it just makes me want to dance! But I think mainstream America would have problems accepting that the opening lines because if you listen to the words it is so male on male. But I also think that people ignore alot of the words if a song has a good vibe which I think Shady has. So maybe it could work as a single, but more likely after another song was very successful. If only Adam didn't enunciate so well!! ;D Seriously, once I realized "pull it out" was "roll it out" I thought the song would be fine. We know it's about lookin for sex in a seedy club (OK, a not so seedy club), but if you don't know the entire back story, can't it just be about going out in your "dancin shoes" to an underground club? I think Naked Love, to the general listener, would be more sexual. I agree that because we have heard Adam talk about Shady we see it as a song about looking for sex, but to a casual listener it could just as well be about searching for a party in a dance club. Maybe they might have to change "get you ass down to the front" and "your game is brand new" a bit, but most of it can be viewed as being about a party animal who gets his kicks from dancing. I love it so much and I think a lot of other people would too. Do labels ever listen to fans about this stuff?

Add me to Team Shady. I personally think that people would expect an edgy song from Adam...and that maybe the reason that BTIKM and NCOE haven't caught on is that they are too "safe"... JMO I've never though of Shady as being very "edgy", but in terms of the lyrics yes it would be. And maybe some of the production also. But what I really like about Shady is that it has the great "bluesy swing" beat (plus some added funk) that makes me want to just get up and dance and sing along. It is like all the 50's "rock-n-roll swing" songs that were so popular because they made people want to get up and jitterbug to them. (To a ballroom dancer, Shady would be a slower West Coast Swing dance as opposed to a faster East Coast Swing/Jitterbug dance.) In many respects, to me Shady is like Adele's Rolling In The Deep which also has a great bluesy swing beat and makes me want to do the same dance. So why was RITD such a hit? I think this type of swing beat resonates with alot of different types of music lovers rather than just one type. It is more universal in its dance nature than want is now considered a typical "club dance" (NCOE being an example of a typical club dance song). Plus the lyrics are a classic "he done me wrong but I'm better off without him" which many people identify with on an emotional level. But Shady also has this same type of swing beat. And it is about something that many people identify with (if you ignore a few of the words). So I think it also has the potential to be a great hit.

It's the combination of "get your ass down to the front" and "go on an roll it out" both spoken to another party that makes it sound male on male. But if you don't listen to this line very closely then the rest of it is more generic. Get your ass down to the fromt , go on and roll it out ???? Well, The lyrics are very sexual , but it can refer to a woman too !!! Like , get your ASS , hey , women have asses , too . I have one , everybody has one . And whatcha think , if the song is refered to a FEMALE , you think it's better to write "get your p*ssy" down to the front" ?? you guys think it's better that way ?? SAFER ?? I don't think so . Come on , safe songs didn't make it big , this song has the potential . Well good point. Your alternative lyrics gave me a good laugh! And they would probably only be acceptable in a rap song.

Hopefully the next Adam single will fit US Pop Radio.
Listening the 10 tracks left on the CD (it will not be a bonus track), and forgetting what I like because my taste does not matter, here's my ranking of Pop-ability -- the % is my odds on each track being the next single -- JMHO:
45% Cuckoo (pure pop, solid hook, simple, right beat, production would fit pop radio, not retro, would fit with Pop and HAC radio)
25% Trespassing (much better live then recorded IMHO, seems like Adam's pick, what radio format? I gave it 25% because IF they have a way to promo this song without radio, I think it could be a hit. Just can't see it fitting with current Pop radio or HAC.)
20% Naked Love (extra points because Adam did not write it and RCA has picked all non-Adam songs for his singles, fits radio but generic on the studio version, better live then recorded, would fit with Pop and HAC radio -- but there are many songs like it.)
5% Kickin' In, Pop the Lock (like a lot of this album -- so much better live!
3% Shady, Chokehold (great album tracks that have no radio home. What station would really support either of these two songs?)
1% Outlaws of Love, Broken English (my fav track on the album is BE and it would have been a megahit in 1988.)
<1% odds: Underneath

Not to change the subject (oh who am I kidding, l totally want to change the subject!) why isn't there more talk about the justify my pants pic??? did I miss it? That picture is stunning. Amazing. Really intimate. Not to mention clever, with the Madonna reference. It is absolutely my new favorite, from the hoody covering his hair to the mile long shiny legs down to the bare toes. I love the composition. It's perfect! Love this picture too. So edgy and stylish and a little different. I totally agree. I'm embedding it for a closer second look: Do you think it was shot after the concert when they came back to their hotel room?
