I'm no expert! But, the song is simply not being played enough to be generating large number of requests. And DJs know this. They know that requests coming in from a song with such a low AI are coming from the fanbase. The audience can't request a song they haven't heard, so requests generally are not how a station decides whether they are going to add or begin spinning a brand new song. Their motivation comes from other places---label push, iTunes placement, major promo of some kind (Glee, movie soundtrack, commercial), or artist history. An exception would be if a station has "tested" the song, meaning sometimes they will spin a song a significant number of times over the course of a day or weekend, and then see what feedback they get. To be honest, I also don't believe that the Atlanta station only had 6 requests. This is a motivated fanbase. I think they were lying. But, heck, I'll start requesting from Chicago if they are counting requests for the song! Thanks for the info! I want to help Adam, not enable radio. Yeah Atlanta..6 requests? : Well actually -- I was told requests from 6 people. Since WSTR has not be pushed as a place to request and has not played the song, it makes sense to me. I honestly think that most Adam fans are not aware that the single is out there. And there are a lot of stations in the US for the people who follow Adam and request.

What are DJs looking for exactly? Hundreds of requests? Because that's not realistic. The song is not being spun. It doesn't have a high enough AI to be generating tons of requests. Frankly, I think they the request argument from radio is just a convenient excuse because no song in Trespassing's current position is going to be generating a large number of requests. If this is radio's argument for not playing the song, then I'll start requesting nationwide, lol. I just hate this, because number of requests is not the standard tool radio uses when determining if they are going to play brand new songs not on the audience's radar I am unaware of anyone posting that Trespassing was not getting played because of too few requests. BUT I did report that in talking to two PDs they said they were not getting many requests from unique fans. >> If a missed a post from a DJ or PD saying that they were not playing Trespassing because they were not getting requests, sorry. >> The only thing a fan can do is request. So you can chose to not request or your can request thoughtfully. The worst possible thing would be to request from every station across the country like Clay Aiken fans did. That will hurt Adam. At this stage in Trespassing's life, it needs to get added to playlists. DJs do not pick songs for the playlist, PDs and MDs do. And almost every US HAC and Top 40 station is fully programmed. The DJ doesn't even pick songs for most of the airtime. The major exception is in the evenings for stations that have request shows and these seem somewhat pre-programmed to me. Q3 it is common practice for DJs to tell fans that they are not playing a song because they are not getting enough requests. Don't know whether they have used this excuse for Trespassing yet, but they have used it in the past with other Adam songs. And not just Adam fans---David Archuleta fans were given this excuse, Cook fans were given this excuse, on and on.

im on a downer Q102 dropped TP from 144 to 155 on the playlist....not going in the right direction B104...I have hecked numerous times, haven't seen it played all week and have asked to be alerted when TP spins...no alert what are we to think? Q102 has not added Trespassing -- it got played a couple of times -- those would be considered test spins. Once they play a song once it will show up on their automated playlist. Same for B104 -- they have played Trespassing but not added the song to their playlist yet.

And not just Adam fans---David Archuleta fans were given this excuse, Cook fans were given this excuse, on and on. Cook and Archie fans acted like Clay fans are supposed to have acted. They got frustrated and started to just request from everywhere, without thought, way too often. It did not help these songs get airplay. Think about being a receptionist or a DJ at a radio station and getting called by a ____ fan and told you aren't being fair or you are a hater or playing crap. >> From what I hear, Adam fans are viewed as being passionate but nice. It is appreciated. (but somewhat dangerous on Twitter ). I still believe LOCAL requests are golden, all other request are risky and need to be done with care. ETA: I edited this to clarify.

Apologies if my eyeroll was misconstrued. Radio has had us jumping through hoops and I don't know what is valid or not anymore. I never doubted you heard what you did..

I wonder if that number only counted live phone call requests? vivlite, IMO the easiest way to tell if a radio station clicky thing is just for hits or may be testing and/or result in spins is if it is a contest to vote on Trespassing the song or Adam the artist. If it's the first it's worth doing. If it's the second, it's often clickbait unless it's on a major media site (like Billboard) where they might publicize winners at least online.

Thanks, Rabbitrabbit! I am all for getting Adam spins by requesting. I am not into wasting my time for nada for Adam. Game playing is not my forte..excellent guidelines. They will help me navigate better.

I have had a really hard week and it is only Tuesday -- so perhaps I was not very clear with my post.
I had a reason to speak to a few PDs over the past few days on business not related to Adam. I asked two of them if they had gotten many requests for Trespassing.
My question was something like this....."I recently heard an interesting song, "Trespassing" by Adam Lambert. Pretty good song. Just curious, are you getting a lot of requests for Trespassing?" They had no reason to lie to me because they did not know that I am an Adam fan.
I did not ask "Why aren't you playing Trespassing?" since I had no expectation that either would be playing it yet.
^^
I am braced for the long siege. First Trespassing is gonna have to move up the HAC chart. Then cross over to Top 40. But I have faith.
