I think it's curious how Adam does so well in all the on-line polls and contests but when it comes to radio requests we get feedback that not many requests are being made......I guess it takes ALOT of requests -- way more then any on-line contest and/or poll has ever generated. Or, they actually are getting a lot of requests...In other words, they are lying. And, in all honesty, radio does not get a ton of requests (unless they are asking for them for a contest or something)---to clarify, this info is from one person at one station in Chicago

Sorry for being so stupid, but is this Aidan or Liam in this pic? That's a great art like all your other artworks. Thanks for sharing, and that's Liam, pi kind of answered in her quote, lol.

I know. :-[ I've suspected this was the case for quite some time. My new theory, however, is that perhaps YouTube is the new Pirate Radio? There have certainly been times throughout history where radio was dominated by samey sameyness and nothing new could get played. I was listening to an interview with Def Leppard around the time "Rock of Ages" came out and they were talking about being young kids in England in the 1960 and how records had to be pretty much brought into the country by sailors for them to hear rock because all the corporate stations played is bubblegum pop. Had a small-time DJ not gotten a hold of a copy of "Bohemian Rhapsody," and played it multiple times during a weekend, it's possible no one would have ever heard it (outside of a tight-knit circle of Queen followers). Thinking of Bieber and Psy – both total products of YouTube who are now dominating radio. Maybe there is something to getting those view counts up in order to cross over? It didn't happen overnight, but Biebs' manager (Scooter? Skippy?) was relentless and man, he achieved what he set out to do and then some. Think I'll get that loop going. Doesn't cost anything and can't hurt.

I think they are lying liars who lie. Would get more action from fans also if they thought they were not requesting enough. So using that logic it does, I suppose, have its benefits. Yeah, I tend to think this also. You know damn well they don't get gratuitous requests for 90% of their playlists because they already play the same songs every hour or multiple times a day. Who needs or would think to request? I call BS on the "don't get enough request" statements. Perhaps they don't get enough sustained requests? We come out hard and fast, but then lose our momentum after being discouraged? This! I just read your post now, but this was what I was getting at. I know from a very "well informed" DJ in Chicago that people do not request from radio anymore. And he said just what you did---radio is already playing the songs over and over, they don't need to request. Or, they just turn on the iPod and pull up their own playlist. Taking it a step further, red flags pop up all over when it's an Idol artist. Requests for these artists are just plain looked at differently. Eta---I am still requesting because the alternative is a radio station that thinks there is NO interest at all. But in reality, this "radio issue" is kinda out of our hands.
