Question...I just purchased another EP via Amazon this time and it says for me to 'Install the mp3 downloader' and if I don't it will cancel the download I just bought. I thought I would be able to download it immediately to iTunes without installing anything. :-/ If I download Amazon's app it won't mess up any other downloaders I already have will it? I know nothing about these things. ETA: And it says download your music and hear it in Cloud Player. Say what.....what is Cloud Player? Help! This may already have been answered.. still catching up, but that happened to me too, and I downloaded Amazon's app and somehow the EP found it's way to my iTunes.. it's all a bit fuzzy now, but it worked out alright.  The iTunes player can play lots of things from different sources and that does not matter. Amazon uses a different type of data encryption -- download the app, it will not hurt anything. You can use the Amazon files on any device.... A cloud is storage on a remote server. I keep my most important music (Adam) on my hard drive, a back up drive and in a cloud.
File format and Sound QualityWhile Amazon sells songs in the MP3 format with a 256 kbit/s bitrate, iTunes songs are encoded 256 kbit/s AAC streams in an mp4 wrapper, using the .m4a extension. In theory AAC achieves better sound quality than the MP3 format when compared at the same bitrate, however at 256 kbit/s this is no longer distinguishable. edit Openness Since Amazon sells songs without DRM and in the open MP3 format, these songs can be played on any device or computer. Applelicenses AAC compression and MP4 file format readily, so these can be played by any device/software that has licensed the necessary codecs from Apple. I do not have an ipod, but my son does. I download my music to my computer. if your sister sets up an itunes library on her computer, she can dl your gift. Did you wait for the e-mail with the D/L link? Yes, we did. Itunes were installed as well. But still we can't do it. We have 4 more links to download and I feel really frustrated. |
