Since it appears to be a slow day around here, other than
Mys*&@^#r's amazeballs story of her
celeb encounters, I am bringing this over from the
Moon Garden, thought some might find it interesting:
Gremlins aren't Glamberts
On Wed. I traveled to Austin to see Michael Grimm perform at the One World Theatre. I went with a good friend of mine who is as smitten with him as I am with Adam, and was introduced to another fandom, the Grimmlins. I disguised the name because I really hope this post can't be googled by them.
Not that I am going to say anything bad about them, but I wanted to make some observations that may be of interest about the differences between our 2 fan groups.
MG won 2010 "America's Got Talent" competition, with a million dollar prize. He recorded his first album on a major label, although he has at least 6 other albums out on independent labels.
Here is one of his songs, Fallin' (original artist Alicia Keys) that is on VEVO:
He is a very different artist from Adam, his music is of a different genre and he is an excellent guitarist. He sang mostly covers of popular songs, with a few original tunes.
Like Adam, he is passionate and pours his heart and soul into his song, and he also has a loyal and invested fan base that follows him to multiple concerts, like we do. There was an organized dinner get together dinner before the concert, and peeps from all over the state came to see him, and will follow him to 2 other venues in Texas this week.
I got to meet some of the other fans before the concert, and also after, and I got to meet him because a friend that couldn't make the concert gave up her M&G ticket. He was very nice, humble, and adorable. Not near as much as Adam, mind you, but his fans think:
He is the hottest, sexiest man on the planet
He can sing anything, he can sing the phone book
He just needs some younger fans
"His voice just gives me goosebumps"
"I've never been a fan of anyone like this......"
and on, and on, and on.........
But Gremlins are definitely not Glamberts. MG played for a little over an hour, and the fans gave up pretty quickly on making enough noise to get him to come back, so there was no encore. No way in hell that would happen at an AFL concert.
There were some hoots and hollers, but not one standing ovation for their Idol.
This was a small venue, with 300 seats, and it was not sold out. And MG is the type of artist that I think Austinites would love.
Naturally, I couldn't help but imagine what it would be like to see Adam play at this theatre. It is very exclusive, very plush, and the accoustics are the best I have ever heard.
If Adam had been performing, no one would have stayed in their seats. The whole place would have been one huge dance party. The applause would have been loud, strong, and continuous. There would have been an incredible electricity and energy flow of love and joy between Adam and his Glamberts. It would have been the best concert ever by AFL.
Of course, since it wasn't Adam, none of this happened that night. In general, IMO, no way the Gremlins can hold even a flicker of a flame of a candle to the passion and BSC adoration that we Glamberts have for our Idol AFL.
Interestingly NAL will be performing at this theatre next Monday night.
