Grandduchess, your post reminded me of the time I took a great community class called the "citizen's police academy." If anyone has anything like this in your area, I highly recommended it. The class was once a week for a number of weeks, and we got to meet and tour just about every aspect of the police department, and do a ride-along with the patrolman of our sector.

The lecture from a cop from the stalking unit was telling. He basically said that if a stalker or known abuser "disappeared," the cops didn't spend too much time looking for him ... even if his disappearance coincided with a visit from "your brother from Arkansas."

So anybody got a brother from Arkansas to put on this case? LOL.
