Thanksgiving Ramble, Serbian Style Since I already feel a little bit guilty that I teach BrE to my pupils, because American culture has a much stronger influence here and for some reason they find American English way cooler, I talked to them about Thanksgiving today, mainly focusing on its two major qualities, imo: being thankful and reinforcing family values. I tried not to be too idealistic about it. It doesn't have to imply the picture of a perfect, happy family, Christmas-card style: two and a half kids, a dog and a fire, white picket fences, sappy smiles and puppy-dog eyes... Nor the other extreme for that matter: a Thanksgiving family blow out hilariously portrayed in the fabulous "Home for Holidays" ( I'm seriously in love with the movie). It was more like talking about all kinds of different families we have out there and the importance of not forgetting to love and care... which we sometimes do. And that being thankful is way cooler than being resentful:) I talked about that in all classes except for the first one because the supervisors from the Ministry of Education came to that one. They dilligently announced their visit three days ago which means I had a lot of time for my horrible, terrible nervousness and fright to rise to their full potential. That's how things normally developed, that is, until I got to know Adam. I would freak out and literally petrify. So, how has Adam cured my fear of performing in front of others and being evaluated and assessed? Well, I just think about him coming out to sing on that Ukrainian stage, next to Brian and Taylor, 'stepping into Freddie's shoes', in front of the crippling amount of people... or more recently, standing among all those Mercedeses, in that weird, vast empty space, and I smile at his courage and general gutsiness and laugh at my own embarrassing lack thereof. I really do, I swear. I thought about him all the way until the dreaded class started. It helped me so much to handle the entire situation. I try to mimic him, especially in the fierceness department. So that's just one of the many reasons that I'm thankful for Adam. He is my inspiration and a role model. All the other things I'm thankful for are less weird and easily presumed, so I'll leave it at that. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Exactly !! actually , if you look at past VH1 divas-es on Wikipedia , you'll see that there are a least 15 performers . And , I like Pitbull . Hehe !!!!! Okay. I just don't see Pitbull as being a Diva or as being like Whitney and Donna in some way, so didn't see how it fit the theme.

So, a little OT but still Adam related.....last week I picked up a stray dog running down the middle of the road. It's something I do all the time as I live out in the sticks and for some reason people dump their dogs when they get tired of caring for them. ANYWAYS, I've decided to foster this guy as he needs some socialization, some fixin', and TLC. So, I have to name him. I couldn't go with the obvious "Adam" as I already have an Adam and I caught some major eye-rolling from my DH when that came about. I thought maybe Sauli as the pup has almost the exact same coloring. BUT my DH is familiar with that name also -- it doesn't roll off his tongue but he's heard it before. So, brainstorm, the pup gives me his Huck Finn look this a.m. and it really did remind me of that childhood photo of Adam in costume. No, I'm not calling him Huck as I can just hear everyone around here singing the "Name Game" song.....Huck, Huck, fo, _______ . But, I came up with Mitch, short for Mitchell. Brilliant, right?! So, anyways, I have a new member in my furry friend society, MITCH! Mitch :4OMG: I love this story :D "I live out in the sticks" What does this mean, anyone, please?
