Not on youtube yet - Watch Adam Lambert Talk David Bowie at Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy Party: 'We Were All Inspired By His Ideas' 2/19/2016 by Shirley HalperinThere was no lack of star-power to be found at the 2016 Clive Davis pre-Grammy party (now an official Grammy week even sanctioned by the Recording Academy) held at the Beverly Hilton hotel on Feb. 14, both at the scores of VIP tables and on the stage, where such iconic artists as Barry Manilow, Carly Simon, members of Chicago and of Earth, Wind & Fire performed alongside rocker Dave Grohl and perpetual envelope-pusher Beck.
But it was the two performances which book-ended the evening that had people buzzing late into the night. Both were tributes to the late David Bowie, the first featuring Grohl, Beck, Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic and guitarist Pat Smear doing "The Man Who Sold the World," a song famously covered by Nirvana in 1994, and the finale starring Adam Lambert and Jack Antonoff playing "Let's Dance," which brought to life yet another generation's love and admiration of an artist who, as Lambert points out in his interview with Billboard, was "ahead of his time."
Watch below for the American Idol alum's thoughts on the late legend and more.
