I had to respond to this post, 'cuz it brought back such a fond memory.
I see people referring to Alidol as 'she' - but didn't someone say she was a 'he'. The way the final tweet above is phrased makes me think so. Just like to kind of imagine the person providing us all with so many wonderful things. Don't know if you come here, Alidol - but thank you so much for everything you are doing.
That was me! haha! Way back at the beginning of my interaction with @alidol on weibo, I was mistaken her for a boy 'cuz her weibo profile stated "male". Boy! what a field day we had on the board that day discussing about her gender. [/IMG] Then, I had to "confront" her after all those lovely PMs conversations, it's like, "hey, we've been chatting quite a bit but are you a girl or boy?" I was waiting for her to say, "either way, I'm taken!" [/IMG] Till this day, she still hasn't bothered to change the gender setting on her weibo to "female", I think she gets a big kick out of it. Anyway, she's truly a gem, not only as a glambert but a person!
She has been a true contributor to all Adam fans outside China. It has been such a fun ride, and we had missed a great deal of it without her! I hope she knows this!

Thank you maddie! What about having very gay themed coreography? I mean it was quite explicit and might have risen eyebrowns in many countries. Somebody was referring his son's experiences regarding being a gay in China, and the behavior of authorities. Any insight for this? If I am right being gay as such is accepted by legislation, but not always in practical life?
Actually, the crotch-grabbing act itself is such an old move, being done by pretty much everyone from MJ to....any gay or straight performer, male or female; and as for the rest of the choreograph, to me, wasn't that gay explicit at all. The whole world knows Adam Lambert is gay, a very sexy and sexual gay performer with impeccable vocals to match, I think the audience wouldn't expect anything less than a couple of hot male dancers prancing around him on stage and the man himself showing off what he's got...of course, the trick is knowing where you are and how to play the game while still being yourself and having fun! And, this was a live concert not some national TV performance which will have a much stricter code, same goes to the US as well.
It's hard to generalize gay tolerance and acceptance in China as a whole, I would imagine like any other country, it's better in the more progressive and open-minded regions as opposed to the ultra-conservative areas, and Shanghai is the most liberal city in mainland China. Here is some info from wiki regarding homosexuality in China might shed some light: (and, from my personal experience, people in China are much more laid-back and relaxed about others' sexual preferences than the US)
"Homosexuality in China historically was regarded as a normal facet of life and the existence of homosexuality in China has been well documented since ancient times. Many early Chinese emperors are speculated to have had homosexual relationships, accompanied by heterosexual ones. Opposition to homosexuality and the rise of homophobia did not become firmly established in China until the 19th and 20th centuries, through the Westernization efforts of the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. Sodomy was banned in the People's Republic of China, until it was legalized in 1997."

Just want to bring my 2 cents in regards to the crotch-grabbing act since I am a Chinese and spent my first 27 years living in Shanghai before moving to Australia. To make it short: please don't worry about Adam being banned from Chinese market because of crotch-grabbing. The only sensitive thing for Chinese Government is politics.
If Adam had this crotch-grabbing thing going on while singing on Chinese National TV (CCTV), then it might be a problem since the majority parts of China are still dominated by CCTV and there are lots of people from rural areas might not see it as a part of entertainment. However, yesterday's concert was a live concert, and it was held in Shanghai which is the most open-minded city in China, IMO, even more open than HK. People, especially those in their 20s-30s, they couldn't care less about this sort of act or being gay. Believe me, it won't be an issue for Adam at all.
I was checking some Chinese Forum yesterday and people there wasn't worried about the government sensitivity but worried if Adam would be willing to go to China to do a full concert. The traditional impression of Chinese people were we are conservative, but things have changed significantly especially in major cities like Shanghai, Beijing. Of course, there are still close-minded people in China, but just like elsewhere in the world, young generations accept all sorts of things, some older generations are stuck with their values. But it's ok, coz there's no chance they will ever go to a concert. So Problem Solved! Yay:)

I remember coming across a book or museum exhibit years ago that was a retrospective of ancient erotic art from China and Japan and yes, seems like homosexuality was depicted quite matter-of-factly, to my memory anyway. And LOL, yes, the crotch-grabbing ... reminds me of two stories: one when MJ was the performer at the half time show of the Super Bowl in the early '90s and I was at a party and everyone bet on the over/under of how many times he'd grab his crotch during his performance. We had an official counter and everything. The person who won guessed the highest at 28. The actual number was like 36 - in a >30-minute performance. LOL! So, yeah, that's nothing new under the sun and the female pop stars have all had obviously gay backup dancers for years (Will & Grace satirized that a few times w guest stars JLo and Janet Jackson) and its been no biggie. A few years later (still eary/mid-90s) Madonna was going to perform on Grammys or some other televised awards show and radio DJs were placing bets on how many times she'd grab her crotch during the show. One guy: "Well, she's a crotch-grabber from way back, so I'm gonna say..." It cracked me up. Of course we know sometimes Adam gets held to a double standard, but hopefully that has abated some the past few years. Love your input!!

I've lost track of how many languages are represented here... Mandarin (and Cantonese?), Finnish, Swedish, Danish, English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Greek, Serbian, Filipino, Portuguese, Polish, Welsh, Hebrew, Arabic... I'm sure there are a few more European languages/countries here on ATOP, but I've forgotten them all!! If I haven't listed your language, it's time to check in and remind us!!
