Sorry, I am about a day behind on threads. I want to respond to some of yesterdays comments that said that while people were publicly flailing about BTIKM they were complaining behind the scenes. Before I thought people were like my children who annoyingly chime in after the fact and say, "I knew that". Now I am told that people just weren't being entirely honest....Well, last I checked Atop was a public forum and this is where I come to communicate publicly. If this is the accepted communication here I will likely now take everyones posts with a measure of doubt. Great....This is my biggest pet peeve in life. SAY WHAT YOU MEAN AND MEAN WHAT YOU SAY!!!! Otherwise I will believe nothing you say and you are wasting my time. And why? To protect Adam? I find this somewhat insulting. There are people who need protecting and music that needs sugarcoating. Adam, his music, and his career decisions can stand up for themselves. I have no blown up conception that my opinion in any way can harm or hurt his chances of radio play. We all request regardless. And if Adam actually did come here which do you think he'd prefer to see, honest opinions that explored the good and the bad or posts with BS in there bags? I assume there is also a connection to the ever present conflict here between people who want only to read the light side vs people who want to "keep it real". And there is also thar underlying fear of being pounced on for a differing opinion. None of this is making me feel too good rignt now. Sorry for being miffed. I'll go about my day and maybe when the pms settles I will be more understanding. ~ Since nobody else has answered yet, I'm going to respond in a really annoying way--sorry--by using one of Adam's most abused phrases: it ain't that deep.  . But it really isn't. I'm answering because when LindaG23 mentioned more negative PM exchanges re: BTIKM yesterday I believe she was thinking of me, and I wanted to explain. This really wasn't a question of dishonesty. No one was fake-squeeing about a song they actually disliked. There's a difference between lying and just not blurting opinions that will piss on people's parties. (Besides, we have Teddy for that  ) That would be like, I dunno, going to a bridal shower or something and saying, yeah, okay, I'm glad you like the dress and everyone says you're beautiful in it, but in my opinion it looks like it's from Bed Bath and Beyond (  ), Shower Curtain Division. It would miss the point of the occasion. And I don't think you would score noble honesty points, either. Mostly, those who didn't like the single simply stayed silent about it. As I recall, there were a number of people who did gently express displeasure with the single. I'm too lazy to go look it up but right now but as far as I can remember my own post was something along the lines of "not my favorite song, but I'm glad y'all seem happy with it...here are some things I do like about it." It was a celebratory occasion, and peeps were revving themselves up for the great request drive--I'm not sure, on an Adam Lambert fanboard, that that was the moment for a great "honest" debate about the quality of the single. However, I have plenty of sympathy for your feelings about allowing for a great mix of opinions on here in general, and have no problems, personally, with people posting negative feelings about Adam (caveat 1: it tends to be unhelpful if they are posted and the repeated at naseum) (caveat 2: more often than that, however, they are posted and complaints about them are then repeated at naseum) (rinse and repeat). I guess I just think that there is a time and a place, and also that nobody post feelings on here that aren't genuine (with the exception of the occasional troll). (ETA: just to clarify on that phrase: abused by us, not by Adam, god forbid ;D) |

I dreamt that I actually was AFL at the DIVA show performing a Donna Summer medley. The place was half full and the reactions were nonexistent. It was very weird. Awesome that I could belt out them notes though Oh poor baby... What did you wear? More importantly, DID you pant? I made good use of that voice, I can assure you that  Dont remember what I wore but I really tried to get the crowd going. I even went crowd surfing :( |
