Mszue, do you object to Adam using "bitch, " too? I don't particularly like it and would rarely, if ever, use it as a form of endearment...if I used it, it would be an insult... But it feels marginally less onerous than 'cunt'. A part of me can sympathize with Eve Ensler's attempt to make 'us' use the word in the same way that ni##er and fa##ot have been reclaimed...she entreats everyone attending the Vagina Monologues to shout it out over and over... But I am not quite there yet. What can i say....I am a product of my times...ardent 2nd wave feminist and communication scholar. It is my shtick ... but don't want to get pedantic here... I just hate to see the stonings and banishments that occur here regularly... I think we really all need to be a little more tolerant here if we want to deserve the kudo's we regularly give the community for being so caring and kind.  |

I was wondering if any of you here have recorded the whole diva show yesterday as much as I have seen the singing adam did..I also want to see the part adam was talking and hosting the show.. I miss watching the diva yesterday as it was morning in malaysia at that time and I had to do my usual errands and chores.. I would appreciate it very much if someone could burn it in a cd or something and I am willing to buy and pay for it.. thank you.. Check out the 3rd post on page 1 of today's thread. Follow the redirection and you will end up with a link where you can download both the parts where Adam is talking & hosting as well as singing. The files have funny names, but you can likely guess what it is from the name. PLEASE DO NOT POST THE LINK IN THE PUBLIC THREAD OR ON TWITTER PER REQUEST OF THE ORIGINAL PROVIDER! If you really want the whole show, I have seen posts on twitter about a torrent of the whole show available somewhere. (If you have never heard of torrents, a little web searching will give you lots of information.) I don't do torrents, so I don't have any more information on it. But I'm willing to bet that eventually the file will be available as a download from somewhere but it may be a few weeks. ETA - just saw butterknife's reply. I'm pretty sure the files she has links to are the very same files I am referring to, just hosted by different people for downloading. |

There is a fine line between exchanging ideas and nudging people into lurkdom or worse. Skylar, I really respect that you have put yourself out there on this topic. I'm sort of in the middle: I can clearly see that language changes, but I'm also not in the habit of using a lot of words I read on Atop regularly. However, it has increased my acceptance of them. I was raised thinking that people who used "vulgar" language just weren't educated enough to know some better word choices. Then I met really smart people who cursed a blue streak. So much for my upbringing. :D |

Totally off topic here- I was just over at VH1 rewatching some parts of the Divas show and I noticed that a lot of the segments had around 9 to 12 thousand views, but Miley Cyrus's segment had 87,000+  She must have a big fan base. Who knew? Well, I guess a lot of people knew. I just never paid her any attention. peace&love The crotch grab got a lot of media attention--that was not brought to Atop. Her video is on the main yahoo page scrolling pictures and that brought a lot of views |

We all say stuff we think we mean, and the next day we wake up and chirp about some good news about Adam we read. All the huff and puff of the day before is forgotten. We are all on to something else in 24 hours. It is too exciting to be a fan of our Adam and try and stay mad at someone at the same time. None of this is very deep (as Adam would say). Let's don't take small talk that seriously. We have to enjoy Adam (and Sauli) today. Who knows what tomorrow may bring. Hopefully great stuff, but you never know what is around the corner. Think positive.

I feel sorry for Adam sometimes. We do hold him to such a high standard. Any mistep and we judge him so harshly. He's human and living his own life. I was watching a youtube the other day where he was signing autographs and a woman said, Adam keep the beard. He looked at her and said "it's my face". I know it came from all the talk on twitter about the Melvin and she was probably just trying to reasure him she liked it, but really, he doesn't need our permission. I feel the same about this word. Like it or not he uses it.  |

His latest tweet - why would he do this kind of thing when he has just created so much good will towards himself?....and new fans and followers....not afraid to say I hate it. I'm kinda curious why he brought it up too, since all the "reviews" I've read haven't mentioned anything negative about his performance. I don't hate it, but am really curious why he drew negative attention to it himself.. |

Cunt doesn't bother me. At least I know what it means and where it is. Fag hag bothers me, because I don't know really what it means. It sounds cruel to me, and I think it might be insulting.
