Sorry, I did not mean to ask a provocative question. The original post seemed to indicate that someone in Adam's management team said something about the strategy -- and I could find nothing new. I actually recall an article about DMG and how they "polished" Katy Perry BEFORE she broke records , they made her do lots of live performances . They made her host shows . Maybe they are doing the same with Adam . Katy was 20 and had a VERY sheltered life. She needed the time and the polish. I did love that article though because it seems DMG is doing similar things with Adam, such as TV gigs and such. With their looks and personalities, I think both Adam and Katy can do TV and movies easily. I do recall the artile I think you are referringg to, melliemom. You may have misinterprted the quote (from a label exec) that had something to do with seeing Adam as a developing artist. That term "developing artist" has a different meaning in record label lingo then you probably are familiar with. What a label rep means, when they say "developing artist" is that they are going to give the artist time to find their audience. In other words, if they are not selling millions of records right out the box, they will not be dropped. The label will give them time. This is what is happening right now with Adam. It has nothhing to do with "polish." It has to do with exposing him to the audiences that will hopefully buy his records, go to concerts, and become fans, ie: PLL, VH1, and international concerts. I can see how you misinterpreted that statement though. Here is the quote about Adam being an artist in development from May 11, 2012. I can also see how it could be misinterpreted but recommend reading the comment in context of the article which was a discussion of Adam relative to his career and American Idol. This was a statement from RCA that they were investing in Adam and believed in his future -- and underscoring that they believe he was more than just another singer from American Idol. The date of the comment is significant because RCA announced they had dropped David Cook on May 10, 2012.

And augenpoesie.... that last pic you posted of your art ----> RIGHT-CLICK-SAVE!!! I hope Adam will be locked in (naked ;D) in his new condo for the next 6 weeks! If there will be more of these wonderful, beautiful, breathtaking pics in the near future I will have to just give up sleeping. I know that sleeping is overrated, but I really feel like a maniac in my little room, with my little computer - drooling over Adam's pics and photoshopping them to death. :

Q3- I always find it a bit scary when an AI artist is dropped from their label, especially from RCA. Is an artist, such as, for example, David Cook, whom you mentioned, dropped because the label sees no possibility of him stretching from an American Idol to becoming a known artist worldwide and his appeal is limited? Would that be the main reason they kept Adam, even tho Trespassing did not make the impact it could have-should have?

And his sales for album #2 were/are less than 1/2 of Adam's. Plus he got less radio play than Adam.

I think I understand what's going on in Adam's career a little more...I'm getting the feeling and management has so stated ,that Adam needs more live experience ,more polish ,etc. In a way I feel like our guy is traveling the world not only to get known but to gain his sea legs.. I know I thought he was already at the top of his game.. Not so, if he is to become the iconic star many of us believe him to become.I think His management team have an enormous plan for Adam to become a super world wide star with longevity. This is another reason I'm glad he didn't get the idol judge gig.. IMHO he needs to be and do exactly what he's doing.. Singing all over the world. I so loved the CNTV interview... It explained so much about Adam's journey.. He as much as said he is still learning and that he is at the beginning of his amazing career. I think the interview made me less anxious and more patient where Adam's career is going. He has made enormous strides and gains, but it's the longevity ,step by step build up to being iconic that is so important. His fans will help get him there with our love, devotion and support. it makes me feel all the more that I will do everything to help Adam ,the great performer and Adam ,the great human being. So if he didn't get a nod for the Grammys this year, although I feel the album was more than worthy, there is next year and the next year.. To paraphrase Adam,I will be able to keep singing in the industry.. I will continue to have jobs in the business I love. He is in this for the long run and so am I ,as evidenced by my life at the computer on all things Adam ,for the last 3-4 years. What is this based on? "management has so stated ,that Adam needs more live experience ,more polish ,etc."? I cannot comprehend anyone involved with Adam thinking this and certainly no manager would ever say something like this. The comments Adam made in the CCTV interview are consistent with statements he made in May 2009 the day after Idol that he wanted to longevity, he wanted to preform and record music for many years. RCA execs have consistently talked about Adam's superior abilities as a live performer and personality. Both of his management companies execs (19M and now DMG) have made similar statements. Adam is in Asia, because music is a global business and he has opportunities there. The 2012 numbers are coming out and the US market is about 17%-20% of the major labels global income from recording artists. The rest of the world is a lot bigger market. Regarding Grammy nominations, some artists including Adam appreciate the recognition but I am not aware of any artist is judged as not successful because of a Grammy nomination. I expect that some fans have thought a whole lot more about this than Adam has. Wow, I understand actually quite well what Melliemom is referring to, and even though Adam certainly already has a more 'polished presence' than 99 % of entertainers out there, I don't think that anybody does not try to improve on a constant basis and engages their management and other resouces in the process of trying to figure out what works for them. And Adam is never satisfied with where he is, even if we are totally satisfied. I don't think there is a need to defend him here or that it is a chip off his shoulder to say that maybe he asks his management to help him improve certain things. Let me actually give you two examples, where I believe to notice that Adam recently has put some effort in and it is working. a) When Adam shouts into the crowd....'do you want to rock?' ...'are you having fun' etc, he used to get this very high pitched voice at times. I remember that even this summer, a lot of Queen fans who wanted to trash Adam pointed to that 'helium' - voice and made sometimes very mocking comments. Adam does not have a high pitched speaking voice when he is calm, but the flexibility Adam has during singing in that he can naturally go up and up and up, means that during speaking his voice is also capable to go up....and at such announcement moments it is unintended. If you noticed recently, he does not do that anymore and I noticed since about November that he conscientiously makes sure to lower his voice before those announcements to the crowd. My bet would be that during the preparation for the hosting role for Divas Live he worked with somebody who had speech preparation training and made him aware. That is all it took, Adam is so vocally conscious that obviously he is a quick study. But making such a change in your own speech is very much something that falls under 'polish'. Many female speakers have to learn to lower their voices when they give public speeches, it is normal training element for public speaking coaches. It happens to tons of people. And the result is positive. b) Adam's small talk during the show has improved significantly. He still speaks freely, but he does have talking points in his head: I have questions for you (are you going to go my way, and WWFM), are you willing to trespass with me, funky, shady, heat, etc.....) He can mix it up, but he has a 'repertoire' to assist him. That does not mean that spontaneous interaction is out, he still interacts with front row, praises an outfit or make-up, interacts with band, etc....but when it naturally does not exist, then he can fill in the gap with things that he has thought out beforehand. That is polish, and it was mentioned here multiple times just recently. Management is just doing its job and for most people, who are not following every move, it will be unnoticeable, but it is happening and a very natural thing. Of course, Adam starts on a much higher playing field than most pop singers already. He was raised in a house with tons of communication, eloquence, verbal awareness and sophistication around him. He also is naturally talented to express himself well. But we all learn in life and Adam learns too. Nothing wrong with that, imo. And btw, I I am interested to hear different opinions on this forum and I value Melliemom's many contributions to this forum. I am saddened to see that some here believe she is a non-fan, if she holds these opinions. I guess, that would make me a non-fan too, and that is pretty craazy. Melliemom, just keep dancing, you know Adam understands you just fine. I also agree that different opinions are an important part of this forum. And I respect this. But part of that is also being able to disagree with a post. In this case, I do not agree with several things in the original post: 1. "I'm getting the feeling and management has so stated ,that Adam needs more live experience ,more polish ,etc." >> The few statements that RCA execs have made are the exact opposite of this and DMG has not commented on this subject. >> Adam recently said that RCA wants him back in the studio to work on new music. My guess is that they are trying to figure out a stronger commercial positioning for Adam and pushing him to record music with strong appeal to Adult Top 40 market. That is what RCA execs have said publicly. 2. "In a way I feel like our guy is traveling the world not only to get known but to gain his sea legs." >> I believe Adam does not need to gain his sea legs. He is traveling the world because it is a way to make a lot of money doing what he enjoys. 3. "I think His management team have an enormous plan for Adam to become a super world wide star with longevity." >> The night or the Idol Season 8 finale, Adam said the most important thing to him was to have longevity, to be able to make have a long career in music. This was his mission from the start. When an artist has a clear focus on a goal like this, management and the label will support that goal. I have no concerns about Adam's future. I believe he will have a long, productive and successful career. I have never been anxious about his career, not once. *** I agree Adam has gotten better at small talk in concerts but when you watch the pre-Idol videos he was quite good at this. I really doubt that his management really cares much about this. He is masterful in interviews and public communications, the gap is stage chatter is a bit odd but not really consequential to commercial success. *** Most of all I have learned that fan passion and outright love is a large part of Adam's success. So whether we agree or disagree, the one unifying thing is that we all appreciate Adam and want him to have everything he dreams of. And we all want to dance to his music.
