[/IMG] [/quote] I think what mys*&@^#r was politely TRYING TO SAY was that us poor schlubs were so far outside pop culture that we did not even know that Ms. Kelly Osborne was dressed for Fashion Police work in her "gown" which Adam so graciously commented on. Now, for me, I prefer to think that Adam happened on her outside her door in her pajamas, since they are currently neighbors. But to each their own.

Also, while I've had to fight more than a few men breaking through the glass ceiling, I'm pretty sure branding radio owners with the broad brush of "fat old white men" is as offensive to me as any other stereotype. IMHO. No, I am not an apologist for American radio, nor do I know any station owners, nor do I think we have to be politically correct all the time, but if I'm going to hate "cougars" or "fans of a certain age," I think I have to resist stereotyping in all areas. J/s Big applause on this. I cringe every time. Name calling is just so uncool even when it's not to someone's face.

I know I'm going to be in the minority with my opinion here, but my guess is that TP failed because it was sort of a gay anthem. He sang about trespassing on the heterosexual world and he sang about cruising gay bars and he sang about his relationship with Sauli and how they're told that it's wrong. Granted, Adam could have come out with a very generic album with very generic lyrics and he probably still would have trouble selling to this "christian fundamentalist" country, but making the album a gay anthem type thing probably made things worse. Also, I personally think Adam needs to move away from dance/pop music. I feel he made have sold more if he had stayed with pop/rock type songs instead. WWFM was a perfect fit for Adam and his voice is just wasted on dance music. That stuff is for the auto-tuned singers, not someone who can sing operatic Queen songs. I know Adam likes to push buttons and is not afraid to live his life openly as a gay man, and I deeply respect that, but I do believe it has hurt him in sales and will continue to do that here in america. This country is actually going backwards in some ways with the "fundamentalist" movement happening at the same time as we try to move forward with social issues. It will be a long fight and Adam will have a long fight too to garner respect for who he is here. Overseas, they are much more tolerant of people's differences because they aren't being taught by parents and churches to hate the gays as much as we are over here. The "fundamentalist" are fighting to keep the gays from gaining social acceptance here because they are feeling threatened. This may be shocking to some here, but my husband is a fundamentalist christian and he agreed with Iran's ruler that it is okay to imprison gays when caught in the act of sex. I was shocked too when he said it but I turned to him and said, "well, then you have to imprison the fornicators and adulterers too, what's the difference". That put him in his place as he couldn't disagree with that and claimed he wasn't thinking it through first but just the fact that he believes they are worthy of being imprisoned is bad enough. I asked him who are they hurting and he couldn't answer. This shows just how brainwashed they are and this is very common here in our country even though we are in the mist of trying to change society's preconceived ideas about gays. I just think Adam has always had an uphill battle to fight here in america and it will continue to be that way for him, unfortunately. Jo, I get your point and I agree for the most part. I also think you handled the situation with your husband with admirable grace. My 2 cents worth...scroll if you wish...I promise to take no offence! Trespassing! Gay anthemic? hmmm Adam has freely stated he has lots of double entendre's in this album and he has claimed somewhere [help?] that this was a gift to his community/brothers. I had to come back to the lyrics and really see if there is so much to note, sexually, and frankly, I think there is. I am posting some of the sexual stuff here...I do not include everything and yes, some of it you can argue has other meanings but I am choosing things that sensitive souls could easily be made uncomfortable with...and that would seem to be particularly appreciated in the gay community...Don't forget, ANYTHING sexual, that is said or indicated by Adam, AUTOMATICALLY is interpreted as GAY sexual. This is not good or bad, it just is. 1. Trespassing ...the largest letters other than the title on the 'title' page of lyrics from the CD are: wait til ya get a load of me 2. Cuckoo I'm cocked and I'm ready to go... tonight we're takin over the town' gotta get out of this straitjacket 3. Shady pretty much the whole thing 4. Never close our Eyes n/a 5. Kickin' in the sweetest seeds make the best treats [very polysemic] am I about to do a three? [singing about doing drugs is probably the next taboo after gay sex] 6. Naked Love [title] lose control get lucky tonight take it off and try me on I know he makes the claim that this is metaphorical but they are explicit sexual lyrics by a gay man.....the whole song. I know it seems rediculous but there you go....many here have said this song would not be released because of the title...sigh...Adam knows all this. He must have had his reasons. 7. Pop that Lock Adam has claimed this one is the most 'gay' of them all and full of gay innuendo and insider terms. I assume the title is particularly sexual but do not know the urban meaning. I'm takin you to school get tall the key to your release don't care if you don't keep it don't care if you leak it the whole thing actually
8 Better than I know myself. n/a
9. Broken English Connect the neck to what's below commin in clearer when we get down iceberg just the tip
10. Underneath This is probably one of the scariest of all....and has garnered loud swell of approval/liking when he has sung it the few rare times: such a beautiful release, you inside of me...
11. Chokehold I would agree that the lyrics are not particularly 'gay' in any way but they also touch on a very sensitive topic, superficially. ie the sense of violence and masochism in relationships.
12. Outlaws of love Definitely a gay anthem...no need to argue on that
The bonus songs are not particularly gay but both Take Back and Nirvana, have passages relating directly to sex and not just to love and emotions. This is the big hurdle Adam has to always jump in the US....he is 'allowed' to feel love, but when he shows it so explicitly in his lyrics he is going to run into never ending hurdles with radio. Tough tough tough.....
I agree 100% The Queen concerts didn't help Adam with buzz or chart success in the US and likely a number of other places inn the world. But I think it did help in some areas, in particular the non-London areas where they played. He has 4 big concerts in that area this spring and I can't help but believe it is due to the Queen concerts. I also believe that the interest towards Adam's music in Ukraine, Russia and in some other Eastern European countries (that saw Queen on TV) is the result of the Queenbert shows. And finally, a welcome to xixioge. Keep posting girl but don't push it too far. Today's thread is crazy.
