I like it to sound retro but totally new and edgy with his creative signature in it I really wish this time he's got songs to smash the radio He's already got songs to smash the radio in the present album, they just weren't released.

On the next album -- my money is on NO FUNK. My money in on a more mainstream album with a more focused direction (ie less genre hopping). Sometimes I think it would be easier for Adam to be successful if he was less versatile and not as great a vocalist. It certainly would be easier to figure out where he heads next. What he will not do: - Country - Jazz - R&B - Folk - Indie Rock - Showtunes - Classic Rock But that leave so much..... I am expecting an album similar to FYE. Mixed genres, with both Pop and Rock leaning songs. He only needs 2-3 radio singles. If he completely abandons the dance music, I will be very sad. My guess: I think there WILL be some funk sensibilities. He will keep a strong bassline and groove in the uptempo songs. As with the others, a mixture uptempo (some ballads) and really, the live adaptations of his songs ARE how he has defined rock in past – more guitar-driven, strong instrumentation, less synths, so though the were conceived as "pop" songs, they are being performed by a standard rock band structure. My guess is the vibe will lie somewhere between vein of "Cuckoo," "Shady," and "Runnin'" I think the thing that grabs people with Runnin' is not the genre, but the lower range, emotional intensity and driving build. (And the killer vocal performance, of course ...)

I cannot believe this - they are playing Cuckoo again!!!! ETA It is 'just' a web radio but I'll take anything... ETA2 And at the time of my 'tune in now' post they were playing Pop That Lock (cutting a little bit from the end though)

I think the thing that grabs people with Runnin' is not the genre, but the lower range, emotional intensity and driving build. (And the killer vocal performance, of course ...) When I first heard 'Runnin', the lower register really shocked me. Not just how low he hits, it is the texture and the rich in his voice. He's def has had been experimenting some new sounds out. Like Slash said "when you hit the lower register it sounded really cool." He never sang so low with sound like that before. I think the killer vocal performance + the emotional drive of the song really captured people. And I think the three US version bonus songs are songs he recorded earlier than other songs on album because for one thing his sound and singing in the three songs are similar but very different from regular album songs.
