American singer Adam Lambert’s performance in the fifth Hennessy Artistry music festival on January 4
bewitched the audience at Ho Chi Minh City’s Nguyen Du Sports Center.
The nine songs performed by 30-year old Lambert, who was runner-up in season eight of the TV talent quest American Idol, concluded the invitation-only concert. The other acts were Portuguese soul singer Aurea and Korea’s Yoon-G.
According to many who were there,
Lambert ignited the audience like no act in Hennessy Artistry shows in previous years.Interestingly, the American was the only one of the three artists who went down to talk to the audience. He even asked a girl her name and said she was pretty.
On many social networks, the hunt for free tickets was frantic and many fans were disappointed to miss out.
Rumor has it that a VIP ticket was being offered for a thousand dollars. Lambert’s thirty-minute performance included all the numbers his fans were expecting like If I Had You, Naked Love, Cuckoo and Fever.
While the comments about Yoon-G were decidedly muted compared to Lambert’s reception, and Aurea’s, the Korean captivated many in the audience with her eye-catching beauty and accomplished dancing.
There were two duets on stage that night, Umbrella by Yoon-G and Aurea, and Are You Gonna Go My Way? by Lambert and Aurea. Both went down well.
Khanh Hung, music reporter of Song Nhac newspaper, told Vietweek that
it was the best Hennessy Artistry show he had seen.Prior to the concert, Hung added,
Lambert had won over the Vietnamese reporters with his smart answers and confident manner at the press conference on January 3.
