RE: Adam’s birthday I prefer to “think globally, act locally”, so I’ll make a donation inspired by Adam, on Adam’s birthday, to a local cause that I think Adam would endorse. There has been a lot of attention in my city to the need for better safeguards, supports, etc to help children & teenagers in crisis as a result of bullying, mental illness and other factors. Last year the 15 year old son of my local city councilor took his own life. This young teenager was gay, troubled, bullied and suffering from depression. Jamie’s family has asked for donations to be provided to the Ottawa Youth Services Bureau, and that’s what I’ll do. This is a cause dear to my own heart, and I think Adam would approve. I don't disagree with you. In fact I agree. But I've always wondered what "safe" in this context actually meant. Safe from what? Safe from the excitement of watching a passionate performer? Do most people really enjoy music that doesn't get the heart pumping & the blood rushing? Singers where "nothing is going on" to quote AFL himself? I guess they do - or Idol viewers do anyway. Just glad I'm not one of 'em. I agree, and I'm glad I'm not like that too.  |

None of them were happy, IMO. lol And look at the WTF faces in the audience. Wow... It's when I see videos like this one that I shake my head and wonder how the hell didn't he win. Even the Kiss guys were like: "WTF??? Noooooo..." I posted this in yesterday's thread ...It is not a youtube but a vimeo ---so I don't know how to load it on the thread....just click on the site, and you can add it your treasure chest of archived information...if it is what you were looking for!  Thanks Belle...did not see your post until after I posted!! Thank you so much!!! That's exactly what I was looking for. I've got it saved now. Not sure where or how to post it on the Idol thread. Of course it is all lowest-common denominator stuff on sale in a place like that, but I looked at the blurbs on the album and one read something "The most accessible of the current crop of pop stars." And I thought ACCESSIBLE? That's the best they can do? That's what passes for high praise these days? ACCESSIBLE? |

Just glad I'm not one of 'em. IMO, safe, in this case means non-threatening. Junie, your post about an 'accessible' artist falls under this same umbrella. Many people find Adam threatening or inaccessible. And I don't think he can do anything to change that. Opinions???? Have at it! |
