*wanders in grumbling*
I don't know what's happening. These past two weeks I've stayed well within my allotted calories AND have exercised 40 minutes every day on my treadmill......didn't lose an ounce!
Karen...wow, you're doing great! kudos!
Okay, I'll shake off the grumbles and get on with things! Still 6 lbs less than I was after Christmas, so all good! ;D

These past two weeks I've stayed well within my allotted calories AND have exercised 40 minutes every day on my treadmill......didn't lose an ounce! Still 6 lbs less than I was after Christmas, so all good! ;D Don't be discouraged! 6 pounds is worth celebrating. Depending on where you started, 6 pounds can equal a belt notch! And just think, if you hadn't been paying attention to food and exercise, you might have gained another pound or two during that time. So it is all good ... It seems like sometimes the body just needs to do a little "adjusting" or something, and those plateaus can be very frustrating. Another thing I have learned is if I eat anything salty (popcorn, teriyaki, almost any restaurant food) the day before I weigh in I won't show any weight loss ... but then 2 days later I'll drop a pound or two ... that salt causes water retention, and 2 cups of water weighs about a pound. That's also why I weigh in the morning BEFORE I have coffee ... that cup of coffee weighs .5 pound!

Well, checking in but my scale has gone off the deep end and I have no idea what I weigh. Everytime I step on it, it says something wildy different. Yikes. Think I am about the same. Changed diet and it's taking a while for my body to adjust. And my eating habits. Has anyone else had this kind of scale problem? Maybe I need to replace it.

Quietly checking because....I feel bad I gained 2 lbs. back. I have been eating some junk food especially since every Sunday now I go to my two grand kids wrestling meets and I'm there from 8:30am until 5:00pm or later and eat a lot of hot dogs, burgers, and chips type of things sold at the meets because that's about all they sell. So I'm just sitting and eating! : Hopefully I can do more exercising the rest of the week.

So I'm just sitting and eating! : Hopefully I can do more exercising the rest of the week. I feel for you, that's tough. But it helps if you plan a strategy before you go. Here are some suggestions: 1. First, be sure to eat a healthy breakfast at home before you go. 2. If possible, take a little cooler/ice chest with you for your lunch. Or, when all else fails, I carry a protein bar with me; I've discovered that the Premier Protein bar from Costco is the best ... it has close to 30 grams of protein and only 10 grams of carbs, so it does a better job with satisfying appetite than many others. And the Chocolate Peanut Butter one is pretty good. The Double Chocolate one is pretty intense, I cut it in small pieces and snack on a couple of pieces if I'm really hungry between meals. The Yogurt Peanut Butter one is a good one for taking with you 'cause you won't get chocolate on you if you drop a piece ... 3. Be sure to drink lots of water or other non-calorie drinks. If your body senses dehydration it will hold onto every scrap of water it gets, which adds pounds at the scale. And if you are eating salty chips, etc., that makes matters even worse. 4. Plan ahead for dinner, either a nearby restaurant that includes calorie counts in their menus, or something at home that can be fixed very quickly so your hunger doesn't tempt you to snack while you are waiting. Good Luck! ETA: Preview is my friend, preview is my friend, preview is .... x 100

You can do it!

I'm having the same problem with my scale. Both DH and I are getting a 3-4 lb swing on our digital scale. I got so frustrated that I bought an analog scale. At least it stops on one weight! So I'm positive that maybe I lost a pound this week ??? Congrats to everyone for their progress!

Be sure that you are weighing at the same time every day, and wearing (or not wearing) the exact same thing. My weight will fluctuate 2-3 pounds depending on the time of day, what I have eaten, how my digestive tract is working, etc. So I weigh first thing in the morning, after I pee but before coffee, stripped naked ... I even take off my glasses, 'cause my scale weighs in half pounds and the glasses can tip it up to the next half pound. If I weigh before I go to bed, I am always 1-2 pounds more than I am the following morning ... haven't figured out where that extra weight goes overnight ... ??? but years of dieting and checking my weight have shown the above to be true ...

lol, yep, where do the pounds go when you sleep? My scale (digital 15 years old) must be pretty accurate and if I ever changed the battery it was only once. I don't always strip for my weigh-in hehe but oh do I get grumpy and get all the way into my sweats and sweater in the mornging before remembering and having to get all "light" again.
adamrocks - for your wrestling solutions. In addition to taking along snacks I'd suggest an exercise circuit of the gym. I'm assuming you need to be there but "there" being the vicinity and not a particular square meter. Hallways, stairs, and even outside around the building are all possibilties for some motor fitness, wall pushups, wall squats, stretches. I used to do this when mine was at the playground.
